The lag and crashing has gotten worse, I’m at a loss for words. This is just mind boggling

    They been doing it for years, a pointless poll will not make a difference, they been aware of the issues for a long long time.

    Genuine question: I'm on Xbox NA with a decent but not top of the line internet and have dealt with a few random loading screens but never a hard dc in cyrodiil. Are the majority of issues on a different platform or have I just been lucky? I'm seem to have issues getting bumped out of the game at crafting stations more than anything...

    Trying to figure out why I am playing. Had to get up the urge to login.

    Queue for Vivec and then Shor while I wait

    Get in to Shor. Pretty much just whos small man is bigger at a resource at the moment.

    Hit the queue pops for Vivec. Crash

    Login and am in Shor. Requeu for Vivec.

    Get in.

    Get to fight and cant fire abilities save for once every 5-10 seconds. Start getting chased around by 2. Manage to survive and have them chase me near a keep under siege for a while. Finally die.

    Have to ride back to keep as I was just outside of a camp

    Get to fight.

    Crash to login.

    Im really not doing anything here. Im disappointed because I like the game when it works.

    but...but..they're working on new PVE stories for you. Just hang in there. They'll get to Cyrodiil right after spellcrafting which is actually Soon.

    Vivek is atrocious. Between the lag, disconnects, crashes, long load screens, it’s enough for me to stop paying for this game.

    You're obviously new to MMOs Ayu. Perhaps your fresh from Skyrim or Fortnite since your join date is this February. MMOs tend to cover a lot of different play styles to keep us all interested for the long haul and not just the one you want. In case you missed it while you were frolicking in the PVE "paradise", there's a 3 faction war going on nightly. This PVP war was one of the advertised play styles before release so it wasn't just an afterthought. You might want to read up on the game you joined before posting please.

    Reason #1: People's tears actually bog down the server
    Reason# 2: Sloads! Every set worn drops frame-rates for console user and adds ping for PC users

    A bunch of us are grouped up fighting at BRK and keep lagging and getting disconnected. Trying to log back in as I type this. The same garbage every single day. PC/NA

    On the weekdays its tolerable and during prime time its bad but slightly tolerable on some days. But on the weekend it is absoloutly, 100%, unplayable. And solo pvp? how can i do anything when the skills dont work. When the enemies skills are delayed. When everything is so damned delayed?

    How can you guys ignore thousands of posts? @ZOS_RobGarrett had a thread with a ton of posts about this. But no he ignores it and comments on other non issues. I just cant wrap my head around it. I mean i know why you wouldnt comment on it, because you dont want to fix it. But what blows my mind is that instead of lying about fixing it you would actually ignore everyone.

    And i would loveee to know if any of the class reps brought this issue up to zos.. Or anyone who has ever had a reason to speak to them directly. Im guessing the answer is no but please if any class reps see this let me know.. Because the game performance is 1000 times worse than class balance.

    Very easily. The biggest and most obvious was when they tested on live servers to see if the removal of CP had an affect. They gave us double CP. iirc, this was about 18 months ago, before the first Mid-year mayhem occurred.

    While I will not bother to list every single action Zos has made public, and certainly do not know the tweaks they have attempted that do not require patch notes, that alone is sufficient to debunk the comment.

    Let me explain it like this. This issue is probably the biggest issue that this game has. You could say balance instead but i find this issue bigger. That being said there are countless threads posted every day about this issue and they all get silence. There is no mention of the issue in the patch notes so i dont know why you said that. Nothing on eso live. No information on the forums. This is an issue that has been ignored.

    Now you can go back 18 months and find that stress test. And you can go back to certain points and find some zos comments here and there, about performance, but thats always after an update and specific to something they messed up with the update. If you actually look into it there are pretty much no comments about the ongoing performance issue in game. An issue that only gets worse every update and never gets better.

    I think the last time i read a comment from them about it was like a year ago and it was the same BS comment they would throw around back then.. "we are always actively working on game performance" or something like that.. It seems for the last year and a half (or so) they have just started to ignore us completely.

    But really i bet you couldnt even find one thing theyve said or tried to do about the ongoing performance issue. And i dont mean fixing the crashing after summerset or the load screens. I mean the ongoing lag and delays that have been happening for the last 2 years in this game. The issues that have pretty much ruined pvp since pvp is where the most people are at one time doing things that actually require you to be precise in your actions..

    It will never be fixed because of ZOS choice to base their net code on TCP. TCP has way too much overhead and is the absolute worst thing to use in a real time combat game.

    There is a reason every FPS and real time combat game that has come out since the early 2000’s uses UDP. TCP should only be used as a control and authentication channel nothing more.

    Since ESO uses TCP it will always lag due to limitations and overhead. Nothing short of re-writing the netcode to use UDP or putting cool downs on abilities is going to solve the net code related lag issues which is sad really because neither of those things are going to happen.

    So get used to the lag I guess

    There is a reason every FPS and real time combat game that has come out since the early 2000’s uses UDP. TCP should only be used as a control and authentication channel nothing more.

    Since ESO uses TCP it will always lag due to limitations and overhead. Nothing short of re-writing the netcode to use UDP or putting cool downs on abilities is going to solve the net code related lag issues which is sad really because neither of those things are going to happen.

    So get used to the lag I guess

    Well im not a programmer or a coder or someone that knows much about it. But if thats true then that would explain why they ignore it and that would also mean that my prediction, that they will never acknowledge it because they cant fix it, is true as well. I suspect it will be like this forever.

    But still imo its unacceptable. If there is a way to fix it then they should do it. No matter what it takes. you dont just make a game and then let it turn to *** and leave it like that.

    You most certainly do if if it's not financially feasible to repair what is broken. I'm sure the cyro faithful wouldn't mind if they shut down the servers for a 3-4 to rewrite the coding instead of making new content to sell, but that would upset quite a large portion of the player base, not to mention every stockholder if they are a public company.

    Can't believe so many players still continue to slam their heads against the wall hoping for a different result after all these years. Angry polls and rinse/repeat threads are not changing anything.

    This night it was really horrible experience for me. First it went more or less smoothly vs. Pact, but as soon as I went to Roe area where there was a big DC siege going on... Crash to login screen.

    Trying to come back. I reach the character selection screen, attempting to log back in... "Unable to connect to game server. Make sure you have a valid internet connection". 2x. Then it works because in the meantime my toon is ported back to the Cyrodiil starter area.

    This happened 3x this night, always the same. Then I gave up and switched to an alt, doing a little pve. But its just no fun if you can't play what you like most.

    And the lag... what can I say... I believe that this is responsible for around 90% of my deaths. Sometimes it goes rather fluently also in a little larger fights. Sometimes I have horrible lag even when fighting just 2 players. No chance if your abilities don't work, everything is unresponsive and if the other side just had no issue at the moment.

    Sometimes I see an opponent down and wait for his buddy to show up in order to res him. He shows up and just in this moment I got a huge lag spike which prevent me to interrupt the rez. Great...

    Such things are poison for my gaming experience. I am wondering how their netcode is working. It seems as if too much things are transported or calculated life and not beforehand. I mean, if my opponent is in stealth why do I get such a large lag when he pops out of stealth? Why is all the stuff not calculated while he is in stealth? Its not my graphics, I am running the game already with very few details. At this stage I am really considering playing a different game for pvp.

    I experience the same, hence the reason i log in less and less. I have more fun playing games like Battlefront 2 or similar. To bad, i really like ESO's PvP.
    Yeah some might say i look back to 2014 with rose tinted glasses. But it DID run more smooth. There are tons of video's out there. You could really feel the difference before and after the lighting patch, because i played before and after and it just was bad the day after. And since then it went downhill performance wise every patch.

    We get a bone thrown once it a while in patch notes saying "ongoing performance fixes" or something. But they rather pump out crownstore items and new PvE content because that is where the money is and where their resources are at.

    I hope they will work on these things nonetheless.

    But this overhead seems to be what I experience: In most other games I've played, if you have a low ping, you start to lag around for the other opponents and see other opponents lately. Here, if the connection is bad, your own game starts to become unresponsive and it seems that this also drags down people with good connections. I prefer the former any time!
