Just wanna say thanks again for all the advice people wrote in this thread, it helped so much, my winning attempt was actually really smooth even though i couldn't stop shaking, but i didn't make any stupid mistakes! i got all the crystals down without dropping down, killed all the summoner adds asap, left some dots on boss, took defensive sigil and speed sigil when i was back down and got all ghosts... when i used spectral explosion the crem guard was near the boss so i dropped destro ulti and boooooom

BUT the key things i changed were caluurions legacy gear to julianos, crushing shock, using priasmatic glyph and harness magicka... all this helped a lot

    finally!!!

    Congrats, seriously.

sorry for necroing this thread.... but after maybe 15 runs of vMA since my first clear, i just killed voriak solkyn without dying for the first time ever, which at some points i honestly thought i might never do

since then i've also done the argonian round with no deaths (which is RARE! i usually have at least 1 death and not even on the boss...), and the ice round is pretty much a walk in the park now..

I'm sooo proud of how far i've come when i look back at this thread so i just wanted to update it

This is my best score yet, happened today:
    UaVhuse.jpg

I'm now using infallible aether + necro + any monster set i feel like (i change it up but valkyn skoria works really well usually)
and maelstrom lightning staff on backbar (I've had maybe 3 of those drop, and i got an inferno staff yesterday.)

but yeah... if i can do it anyone can :-)

    my next goal is FLAWLESS.

i don't even care if people say vMA is easy af now, it's one of the hardest things i've ever done in a game and i'm really proud of my progress

Awesome! I just finally cleared stage 6 a few days ago. I've yet to really give the argonian stage the old college try but so far i've been melted by the poison plants each time. I am a very mobile player, I like to move around a lot and I think that's whats causing me to hit the poison plants.

Anyway, congrats on your clear and your drop rate! 15 runs and at least one of each destro staff, that's pretty sweet!

those poison plants are so annoying, the only advice i can give that worked for me is to stand far away from them even when there isn't the poison aoe, because standing near them triggers it to occur which i never knew before... and i move around a lot too, probably more than necessary >.< also i try to make the adds move towards an area without any plants at all and kill them there, but even that's difficult sometimes because they seem to be everywhere

and thank you! don't give up, stage 7 and 9 are probably the worst ones for me considering how many times i've died on them previously, literally felt like hell.. but after a few runs you will know exactly what to do and then it will just be a matter of time and practice until you have 0 deaths :D

If you have reasonable stamina, it is actually useful to go near them on purpose to trigger the explosion and get rid of them. Run by them or dodge roll.

Otherwise staying my the edges is pretty useful, it also gives you a good overview of the corners where the venomcallers spawn.

ohhh i never tried triggering them on purpose :o i use witchmothers most of the time though so don’t have that much stamina...
i agree with staying by the edges!

TIL a colossus can spawn during the last VMA wave.

I only started VMA this week, but I got flawless on my 6th run (petsorc). My setup was nothing special. Necro/Netch because it's what I had on from dungeons. Only thing gold being the 2 lightning staffs. Valkyn Skoria helm/shoulders. I just use the 160cp health potions from dungeons.

I mainly stick with a 1 bar rotation due to latency potential. Do not be afraid to use the perks on the floor. Before starting I read a text guide and then watched a video of a run on the wave. This helped a lot with memorizing how the mechanics work.

Always keep your damage shield up.

When the final wave begins I stack damage on the boss spawn, and he teleports right away. I run straight for him and shield bash to cancel his skull barrage. I drop some dots on him and single target spam the wizard that spawns. I pull the dirty old fire lizard to the boss and dot them both while spamming single target.

At this time the boss typically teleports to the center and calls me out. I run to the shiny floor portal and drop some dots on it, so the little raptor can walk into it and unlock the portal. If a healer spawned I single target spam him down before heading up.

Once up I drop dots on the first crystal and watch for the boss to throw a skull, which I dodge roll. I start to make my way to the second crystal while walking backwards and single target spamming the 1st. It usually breaks at this time and I have dots on the 2nd. I try to be aware of the placement of the floating shield and stay behind it. The boss blasts and the shield breaks.

Depending on position due to shield hiding, I will either start a dot on the last crystal or finish off the 2nd. Keep an eye on the boss so you can dodge roll the next thrown skull. Rinse and repeat - damaging the crystal while moving towards the floating shield. You know whether you have to run for cover based on the boss animation.

I feel my biggest problem during my 1st run was not watching for thrown skulls while up top, and getting knocked down. Now I view it as a dps race, and always complete it in a single phase (being more mindful of thrown skulls).

When we head down I start grabbing speed and defensive buffs. I find the hast buff important for snagging golden ghosts and keeping this phase really short. I drop dots on the boss and single target spam any wizards. When a fire lizard spawns I pull him to the boss and drop dots. I'll add that I find the best way to deal with fire is stand on the fire lizard and do quick circles around him.

Once I get 3 golden ghosts, I curse the boss, grab my offensive buff, unleash the spectral blast to stun, drop dots & destro storm, and single target spam. The boss dies, and I open up a chest for some melee weapons that I don't need.

If you want a real guide, this is the one I read for my 1st run, by Joy Division.

Good luck fella. I'm sure you can complete it.

EDIT: This is on Xbox console. I'm unsure if things run differently on PC or which add ons help, etc. Plain Jane over here.

i’m not sure if this is for me or not but this thread is old and i commented above that i actually killed him with no deaths and got a new best score for vma now
but this is such helpful advice for anyone struggling to complete it!

One of the most disheartening feelings I have ever known in a game was dieing on a no death run on the last phase of the final boss. One of the best feeings was getting flawless the next day.
