Do purple Winterborn rings actually drop from VMA?

So... I ran VMA about 20 times since the event started and got zero Winterborn rings so far. Which I would usually chalk up to my bad luck with RNG but then I found a couple threads from a year ago (1, 2) that say that the VMA loot table is janky and purple Winterborn rings basically never drop.
Does anyone have a definite answer to this?

✭✭✭Pretty sure they do, I know they definitely come from the leaderboards in gold. I believe those threads were from when the last chest didn't drop a weapon or jewelry set piece.BawKinTackWarDs PS4/NA1
