✭✭✭✭✭That 2,000 number is WAAAAAYYYY off. According to the Steam charts, they had 13,500 playing on Steam in July, and 15,400 in June. Whoever posted that video is flat-out lying.

ESO does not truly have 10 million players. 10 Million copies were sold and that is what MattF stated. Very unlikely most of them are actually active players by any stretch.
I am not saying ESO is dying. It certainly is far from dying. Also Steam stats, as I stated earlier, are meaningless as to how ESO is doing. It is such a small portion of the playerbase on PC/Mac servers.

Only 2000? With as many problems as Steam has with ESO, I'd expect that to be a LOT lower. This is also, not taking into account players that purchased directly from ZOS, or those players on XBOX and Playstation. There's PLENTY of players that I see on PC NA.2 -

Because of the login issues in the last couple months, a lot of community members have started advising players not to buy the Steam copy. So, it would make sense if that specific subset of the population has declined due to factors that are entirely specific to that platform.
Additionally, there may be some short term population decline coming off of Summerset. This is fairly normal behavior after every content release, and generally nothing to worry about. Historically Steam has been a pretty good litmus test for overall population trends, because it would move (roughly) in line with the overall community, unfortunately, due to Steam's login server issues, that's no longer true, and any assumptions based of that data is suspect.Edited by ZOS_JesC on August 6, 2018 5:29PM3 -

✭It is widely recommended to NOT buy ESO on Steam for a variety of reasons.Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 11 years. 8 paid expansions. 29 dungeon and zone DLCs. 45 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. Just because Cadwell Silver&Gold failed doesn't mean the game should be brain dead easy forever.
"ESO doesn't need a harder overland" on YouTube for a video of a naked level 3 character w/ no CP allocated AFKing in front of a bear for a minute and a half before dying if you don't believe me change is needed.7 -
