Yeah running it through compatibility troubleshooter seems to work for me. I used the "Try recomended settings" I got a "Windows XP Service pack 2 message (I am running Windows 7) and I hit start. Game fired up and I'm actually in. While it's a work around I hope it's addressed asap. Thanks Valixene! :)

It also told me to run in service pack 2 mode, but it didn't solve it for me.

I'm using windows 8.1 64 bit with an acer predator (i7 @ 3.4 ghz with 32 gb of ram and amd radeon 7700 w/2gb card) and the launcher won't even do anything. I have tried to use the "recommended settings" from the compatibility troubleshooter and same results. Uninstalled and re-installed and still same problem. Ran as administrator, same problem. Been working on getting it to do SOMETHING for about 3 hours now, and still nothing. Oh, I also granted access through the firewall (special permissions and such) so that there should be no issues there. Little frustrated...
Any OTHER suggestions before I ask for my money back?

Also (for informational purposes) the launcher shows up under the background processes in the task manager when I try to open it. Not really sure what other options I have for getting the launcher to work. Windows says that under the 8.1 section that the launcher is compatible and should not require any adjustments, but that doesn't work either.

mkorny I agree. Patience and trust in the zenimax team is our best option.

I'm so anxious to get into the game and I know it will happen...just not in the next minute and I'm okay with that. I've tried reinstalling and checking for updates and repairing and then sent a ticket to the support team. Good time to take a nap.

I would agree with this, but they took the money for the early acess so i'd expect for it to work.

I can understand this sentiment. But that doesnt change the fact that theres possibly thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people attempting to access 1 server at the same time. Star Trek Online has the same sort of server design and on early access, release and every major update there were and still are numerous complaints about people unable to even get passed the loading screen. Im assuming this is a similar issue. If it is it might take a day or two to correct it or for the population to settle out a little bit.

I know it can be frustrating especially when your money is involved. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Things will get better.

Possible memory leak issue still unresolved.

Mac client here and I crashed as well, just like in beta. I am able to play for an hour or so then crashes to desktop.

So, got a call from Bethesda Customer Support, apparently my Anti-Virus was preventing the launcher from working at all even with the firewall bypass. Temporarily disabled AVG and the launcher took off... now to wait for it to finish downloading...

Thanks for providing that update, @Master_Skinner. We've created tickets for those of you that are still experiencing this issue. Be sure to try temporarily disabling any firewall or anti-virus protection to see if that's causing any interference.

It worked fine in Beta, now I've got 3 crashes in first 5 minutes, then I've spent about a half an hour (or more) creating a character and now it won't log in, stuck on "Requesting character load...".
Character creation crashes are the most annoying ones, because like all the RPers, I put quite some effort into it and when I have to do all over again a couple of times... well, makes me want to quit and never come back.

Having the same constant crash issue as those above. Just terrible. And people have a right to complain as we're the customers. For many, this isn't our first time at the MMO rodeo, and we've seen plenty of clean launches. No excuses. I gave up on the BETA because it would crash every 2 minutes.

Just think about the fact that the last generation of Mac Pro is not supported yet... I' m trying to play on my laptop, which is a Macbook Pro Retina, a good machine but not as good as the desktop one, and I can' t even login into the game due to a bug (and I discovered that I am not the only one having it) on the accounts... I hope they' ll fix this soon or I think that I am not going to renew my subscription. I' m tempted to request to refund the money I spent but I think that this is not possible... Bah

Sooo the new thinner Macbook pro with retina display is not supported? What kinda crap is that... Are we talking the current generation? I participated in the beta and I was never able to log in. Now that early access has launched I am still having trouble. I am beginning to wonder if I have wasted 60 dollars

    I'm getting TIRED of this.

This happened in beta, many people reported it yet nothing seems to have been done about it. There's no answers, no replies, no updates. It seems as if there's literally zero people at work during this launch.

Yes, launch is always a bit mad but is that simply the nature of the beast or because companies let it slide BECAUSE we're used to it by now, expect it and kinda sorta let is slide? Perhaps ESO wants to become yet another fail MMO that dies after the initial box sale, they're on to a good start for that.

I pre ordered to, at least try to, register some names I'd want to use, expecting this to become a long term game to play (played DAoC for 5 years, EVE for 10) but it seems like they're not really interested in that, all that's happened is "lol, you paid to be a beta player for another week".

Game launched ok on first attempt. 2nd attempt after dinner I kept getting these client crashes and tried alot of things (disabling AV, reparing etc) but I got it working by ticking "Run as administrator" in the compatability box... however, my account already run as administrator on my Vista 64-bit computer.

I have no idea what worked but here's what I did in order. Many restarts were had since updating software needs it.

-nvidia graphics were updated before launch but reinstalled them anyways
    -uninstalled/reinstalled eso
    -installed corresponding windows graphics updates
    -shut down norton antivirus
    -pressed start in the launcher
-I'm in! Got past beginning sequence then black screen and only sound.
-shut down eso and restart computer again
-press play again only to have "Incorrect login" show up with the correct info
    -restart computer
-press play and no problems just smooth sailing to coldharbour

Again, I have no idea what worked but I hope this helps someone.

@mkorny Yes, I do expect to be able to play a game I paid $100 for the first day it's advertised. Just like I expect to get a cheeseburger when I pay for one. I am not Bethesda's BFF I am their customer. We have a legal relationship. The way I see it, they've ripped me off.

You need to read what he said. The Mac Pro is not supported with the dual-processor Xeons. The MacBook Pro with Retina are fine and the Intel Iris Pro issue fix is working correctly.

My situation. I now have 3 characters. My first, a templar, progressed to lvl 10 w/o incident and started questing in Glenumbra and BAM, crash. Then every further attempt (multiple tries over the course of a week now) to log-in has resulted in the immediate or near immediate crash of the game.

Oddly enough, my other 2 characters (which I created because I can't play what *was* my main) play just fine. On high graphic settings at that! Zero issues with the other 2.

I did not have this issue in beta which makes me wonder if it's related to specific zones or items or areas within a zone.

So far I've tried with no luck:
    - lowering the graphics to low and then minimal
    - running as admin
    - running in compatibility mode
    - contacting support who doesn't seem to have a clue
    - reading the support forums

I have not tried uninstall/re-install since I do have 2 working characters.

One commonality I've noticed with these crash reports is DirectX 11 and slightly older graphics cards. But that might not have a thing to do with it.

Really hope they figure this out and get it fixed for everyone impacted.

This may sound incredibly stupid, but it worked for me(windows 8):

When the game launched I had serious issue with logging in, it just didn't work. I tried to repair, reinstall etc but that didn't work. What did work: Went into my C folder>program>zenimax online, and moved the zenimax file to the C folder(computer>windows8_OS (C:)). After that everything worked fine.

Don't know how. But it worked.
