To be honest housing in ESO feels very tacked on an kinda pointless, Rift did housing so much better and Guildwars had awesome guild halls0 -

Since you can do whatever you want with your house its also a really good way to go wild XD
make an Arena!
Put alot of dummies in there to test stuff!
Enslave your merchant and banker and use them in your house while they can't move!
yay!
Put storage chests in there and store all those lockpicks!
Make a tormenting room or make a daedra shrine to hail molag bal!
The only costly things are the chests for either 100/300 writs or 1k whatever-how-much-it-was crowns but the crafting stations go away for 34k gold each and that is not that expensive tbh
And the mundus stones are just... some luxury stuff, no one needs to change their mundus stone every hour
personally i love going to my home after farming or doing some stuff to have some peace, sometimes its annoying seeing alot of players on one place and i also can use my outfit station in peace without being afraid of being judged or watched XD
And with the storage chests i finally could manage some of my monster sets, trial gear and blueprints/motifs C:

No "real" purpose. It's just so you have something to spend your millions of gold on: a money sink and crown spendage booster. It's also something alot of players really love for some reason, to decorate the house in a unique way. It's not something I find interesting, at least not in the way its being offered. But there seems to be enough players interested in this that it makes sense from a business perspective.
Well there is one "real" usage I guess:; you can put storage chest in the houses and store items in those chest. But since the contents are not shared anywhere else and only can be accessed by you opening that particular chest I don't see any real value in them. Better and much easier to just make your own guild with bank.
Oh an the target skeletons I guess that is the only actual thing then... But really both the chests and the skeleton doesn't really have much with the housing to do except that zos decided that you must have a house for them.Edited by Jayman1000 on August 2, 2018 1:00PM0 -

Seriously, they work as a free teleport and now you can get storage chests to put in them, they're handy if you've got an overflowing bank/bags. If you've got the merchant and banker assistant you can place them there too. You get a free Inn room in your alliance and with some DLC so you can use those if you don't want to lay out any hard cash.

4x30 and 3x60.
Can be bought with crowns (1k and 2k), writ vouchers (100 and 200) and tel var (100k and 200k) with the exception of the 4th 30 slot chest which is achieved free when levelling a new character from level up rewards.
Awesomely, if you do not place your chests in your home (one of your homes) you may keep them unplaced, and plonk then down from any character, within any home you have, access their contents and then put them away after, thereby making all chest contents accessible by any character in any home you own.
This is what I do.
Especially since we cannot skin the chests and they are both identical to the rest and fugly, they serve no aesthetic purpose in the home.
