Are they just something to have and decorate or do they serve a real purpose?

Seriously, they work as a free teleport and now you can get storage chests to put in them, they're handy if you've got an overflowing bank/bags. If you've got the merchant and banker assistant you can place them there too. You get a free Inn room in your alliance and with some DLC so you can use those if you don't want to lay out any hard cash.
Is there a limit to the number of storage chests you can have?
Alright, I am thinking of buying one. If I purchase one that is furnished can I move and pickup the furniture that it comes with?
