ATTENTION: You did not pay for Early Access

If it was free I would have gotten early access regardless of whether or not I preordered.

Not sure I understand the logic here. How can you get a game before launch in order to get early access, unless you buy it before launch, which equals preordering?

I bought Imperial Edition for the horse and the mudcrab.

    I am not disappointed.

Early access was not free: I had to pay to get something for it.

If you go to McDonald's with a "Free Coke w/ Burger" coupon and they don't give you the Coke, do you say, "Oh, well, it was free, so no loss"? Of course not. It's part of the written agreement.

When you make the purchase, it's with the promise of "early access". Early access is as much a part of the deal as the Molag Bal statue or the 1G Imperial Horse.

That being said... it's *just* early access. It's a nice time for them to playtest things on a large scale, and work out the kinks for release. I've had a lot of fun, and the servers have been available longer than not. I had a chance to play early, Bethesda had a chance to work out the bugs, and here we are, ready to rock for launch, woohoo!

People have a right to be frustrated, but there's a middle ground between the two extremes of "SHUT UP IT WAS FREE EARLY ACCESS TOTALLY FREE SHUT UP" and "OMG WORSE LAUNCH EVER OMG THIS SUCKS MONEY BACK PLZ". :)
"It's morally wrong to suggest gameplay changes for an MMO."
...seriously, someone told me that once here. The things people will do to win their internet arguments!

The point was that early access was an inclusion of pre-ordering, something that required you to make a purchase in most circumstances. As it was included in something you bought, rather than given to you without obligation... Then it's not really "free", but a perk of purchasing.

I just have a burning hatred for stupid people, I merely wanted to explain that Zenimax did nothing wrong. Whatever though, I'm done with this thread.

You want to correct people on a wrong assumption then get irritated when you are corrected yourself. While I understand it is never fun to be wrong and admit it, the first step to enlightenment is realizing when someone brings you facts and not troll posts.

    Farewell.

GAME charged you £5 as a "layaway" fee, not for early access to the game.

Early access was part of the explorer's pack, which was FREE with any pre-order. I paid for standard edition and... omg guess what... 60 for the game, 5 days early access, AND a month of game time. Just thought I would point that out since everyone wants to say that they want their money back and that early access was a rip off. How is something free a rip off? If you had waited until tomorrow to buy the game, you would have paid the SAME AMOUNT, and not gotten a free month. Use your brains, I know it's hard, but try.

Its part of the sale that was made. That is how others may have felt ripped off. Its like if I offered to sell you a refrigerator for $300, which is the cost everyone pays for the refrigerator. You don't want it now, because you are remodeling your kitchen in a month and will buy it then. So I tell you, if you buy it today, I will give you a 20% discount on future purchases. You decide to buy the refrigerator. Then when you come back in and I don't honor the 20% discount. Would it be wrong to be upset, since you got the refrigerator for the same you would pay for it had you waited to buy it?

Seems like some people don't know or have forgotten that paying in advance equals paying more in current economic systems. Just like consuming commercials/adverts isn't considered paying by many people.

You got your Coke though. You just didn't like the taste and it was only three quarters full. Regardless, they still delivered on their promise.

    You are completely wrong.

You are under the impression that the Explorer pack was a free bonus. It was NOT a free bonus. It was included in the package as something you purchased. Read the advertisement... it is NOT free.

Well, Read this. It'll probably give you ideas or cheer you up on how ESO will work out :open_mouth:http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/67092/eso-downtime-honesty-the-future#latest

Also: We did get 5 Days extra, and on-top of the 30 days we get, we also get 2 extra days from the Downtime we had. Zenimax understands the people who comment and share their knowledge on the forums.

The two extra days are simply a grace period for entering your physical copy code. They need to retract their post. We are not getting extra days of early access as the game will be live. You simply get more time to enter your code as a lot of the physical boxes have been confirmed for delivery after Tuesday of next week. Most companies do this when retail sites are late on delivery. If anything Zenimax is wording it the way they did to try and by complacency and make it look like compensation.

Actually we gave up the time value of our money. Every day the dollar I spent yesterday is worth more than the dollar I have in my pocket now. It may be a minute amount but its still a value. Also, they ask you to part with your money prior to the product to increase cash flow. They work with your more valuable present value cash while you wait for the product to be produced. They give you extra stuff to compensate for not delivering the product when you part with your cash - so technically YOU ARE PAYING MORE for the bonuses - which includes early access.

I understand that basic economic principles are lost on people - but to say that we did not pay for early access is entirely incorrect.

If it said "Free 16oz Coke with purchase", but they delivered a Diet Coke, flat and 3/4ths full, they did not deliver.

That being said, we can agree that both parties could use to be a bit more moderate and reasonable on the issue, even if we disagree on the specifics, right?

I'm not worried for these maintenances, but I think early access was actually paid. If it wasn't for early acces, we would have paid the game 5 or 3 days later. The company had access to our money 5-3 days earlier, and remember that money generates more money over time :)

Despite that, I think it's better for everyone to have server maintenances to solve everything than a game full of crashes and bugs.

That had access to our money a lot earlier than the 3 to 5 days. I bought my preorder months ago, so with amassed people doing that, that is a lot of money that can be used to make a lot more money. If say a hundred people bought it 4 months early. They could use that money and easily get 10 interest over the course of a year, which would mean at $60 for 4 months the company could make $200 free and clear and still get their profit from the game. Probably a lot more than a hundred people preordered the game.

    Attention: I did.

When i get offered a free toaster for subbing a magazine - guess what? I expect that toaster.

In this case I don't give a toss but your argument is ridiculous.

No you didn't. besides the servers have been online during all 5 of these days. Might not have been for the full 24 hours during all 5 days but they were online. If it isn't at a convenient time for you then that's your problem. Zenimax still delivered. Your magazine won't ask what day and time you want your toaster delivering.

I should probably just let this lie, but I liked the toaster argument.

When the toaster eventually arrives, I would expect it to work. Not stop working for hours at a time, even though it was "free".

Seriously though, I understand there will be problems during early access and launch. Some companies have tried to keep in their customer's good graces by delaying the start of the first month's "subscription" as a means of compensation. Just a thought.

LOL, it would be especially funny (or irritating, depending on your state of mind) if the toaster worked 20 hours a day, just not during breakfast time. LOL
