I'm honestly surprised that I only saw one of the posts I expected this thread to be filled with, that basically being "if you are looking for common courtesy don't play MMOs." That seems to be the gist of everything I hear every time someone complains of rudeness in this forum or in zone chat. "If you don't like rudeness, become a hermit because humans are trash and we're proud of it." Rather discouraging...

It's a good thing you can turn of zone chat ;) I honestly can't remember if you could do that before? I haven't played since the game launch tbh. I am back because of Game Pass because I wanted to try out Summerset DLC. Unfortunately, you have to purchase it because it's not included in ESO Plus. But I digress.

Okay so there basically being lazy but again I take the time. Common Courtesy

Lol who cares where people leave their characters, it's an MMO and people are free to do what they want. Calling someone lazy because of where they go afk? Seriously? It is in no way disrespectful to stand in front of a damn door. These threads get even more rediculous every day. It's common courtesy to mind your own business. Common Courtesy.

    Agree.

And I know some gamers out there are Self-entitled, to say the least
Anyone else see the irony here?

I'll agree there should be negate zones in the the service buildings, but the rest of it's pretty minor. You can still interact with anything you need access to, as there is no collision anymore.

Your method of introducing the discussion might come off a bit condescending. Personally I tend to shut off the moment someone speaks as if they're addressing their pet or a first day kindergarten class.

When someone's trolling in game, it's pretty obvious. The rest of the time it's likely people just playing normally, not contemplating what virtual toes someone thinks are getting stepped on.

In either case, all the good intentions in the world are unlikely to change either one.

if Bethesda can disable levitation in TES3 Mournhold, Zos must be able to disable 1,3 & 4 unless they are in a combat situation.

Duals should be restricted to designated areas.

Unsummon pets add on has become my best friend. I am one that likes to unsummon my pets in town or when urn farming. I know others pets getting in the way irritates me so dismissing them is top priority to me, and this add on is a godsend (and sad it isn't naturally in game).

Or the developers could take some time and actually make it so we can click through pets like we can click through other players and make pets disappear when we are in any user interface window just like surrounding players do.

But no, they've been too busy milking us dry to ever do that since the first complaints, if they are even smart enough to do it.

Ah yes, the door thing! There might actually be a chance they ARE pretending to be guards or something due to RP, but the chance of that is very, very slim. You made me remember some buffoon who was blocking the entrance to the kitchen in Craglorn by summoning their merchant assistant and parking her right there. Alas, the merchant is NOT intangible, and this person took sadistic delight in ignoring people's pleas to move her. Fortunately I discovered that I could dodge roll right past her and get into the room, but it was quite annoying. So yes, I could imagine if they weren't, and it makes me grateful that they aren't.

Okay so why do you think they stand in front of doorways? I personally see it as trolling. How do you see it?

My assumption would be that they are just afk and that's where they chose to stop. The reason I don't see it as trolling in many cases is that the number of people they would actually be trolling with this behavior is likely very small as I'd imagine the vast majority of players just ignore someone standing in a doorway and keep walking through. I'm not saying it's not possible they are trolling, it's just that there are much better ways to do that if that is the intention.

I tend to afk during the load screen from bank/outside for instance. didn't know this was a big deal or an issue. I'll try to refrain.

It's not the players in the doorways really. It's mostly for me the winged twilights flapping - because you almost can't target whatever (door, crafting station, wayshrine) with the flapping. Well - maybe someone who's played a lot more than I have can, but I generally have to go somewhere else because even in first person (which I just hate), I can't click fast enough to beat the flapping....

Then out of no where, some random player streaks in from out of no where , literally, and steals the resource you have to pick up that's right in front of you and you can't stop them because it's in PvE zones, they take it because they too are also doing the same quest.

    How's that for common courtesy?

    FANTASTIC right!!!!?

How did they get there first? Sounds like you were the one trying to steal their resource. Where do you think they came from? Where is this "out of nowhere" you speak of, because they did the same thing you did.

People need to get over themselves. Sometimes you will be farther from a resource and someone will get it before you. Deal with it. Stop telling others to be courteous while at the same time talking like a resource they were closer to belongs to you.

Nothing like feeling happy and trying to have a special moment with someone you love irl only to have someone throw mudballs at you and spam skills just for no other reason then to ruin it on purpose. It really shows the toxic player base that is getting larger and lacks common courtesy in any sense~ :/

They are talking about quest items, not crafting nodes. Learn to read.

This "quest item pvp" is absolutely stupid and easily fixed. Hell, they have several quests where it is fixed so everybody can access the item without fighting other players for it, but this is not universal and it should be universal to all quests.
New quests where players have to fight for objectives are unforgivable.

From time to time, I get the infinite load screen bug when walking through door. I wonder what is my toon doing during that couple of mins when I wait for the game to load till the point I gave up and press alt-f4. Also what happen to him when I try to restart the game. Is he standing in the doorway, or will he walk aside on his own as common courtesy.

I feel that common courtesy is lacking in the in-game community.

If I'm busy opening a chest in overland, don't hover and wait for me to fail so you can steal the chest.
If I'm busy collecting a crafting mat, don't run over to me, dismount and spam collect when I'm standing right next to it.

    Courtesy tips

    1. Unsummon your familiar when in town. You honestly need in town and besides, it's distracting to other players (This Applies to Sorcers)
    2. When you see another player headed for a resource, find another one there are plenty of resources in the game. Don't swoop in and take it just because you see another player headed for it. Unless you truly need it. And they don't
    3. Try and be helpful in chat, and make sure to thank the "person" for there help.
    4. Give someone a chance in a random dungeon, instead of kicking them out. They might be really good.
    5. Instead of telling someone to "get good" offer to help them out instead.

Does anyone want to add to these tips?

    I agree with 2-5.

As far as #1 they are my pets. I am a sorc. I understand that they can be annoying however some people find them more immersive to take them with them as they are a part of the character.

Lol! I am sure this going to be a most interesting discussion ;)

Today I wanted to talk to you about a little thing called common courtesy. I know there are a lot of people that play this game. And that means a lot of overcrowding in this game. And I know some gamers out there are Self-entitled, to say the least. So have the decency when playing ESO to stay out others people ways when doing quests. Especially when trying to see story content. I personally hate when some random player is just standing there and either loitering or "block traffic" yes you're allowed to stand anywhere you, please. But seriously do it elsewhere It's like when you're trying to watch TV and someone walks right in front of you. It's annoying, to say the least. I thank you :p

And how will I know who is doing missions and who is not?

What about this, dye all your armor pink.

So I know someone is doing missions and I will stay away

How about purple, not a fan of pink :p But what about the people that have already done the quest before? They absolutely when where an "NPC dialogue" will spawn. Now at the same time, those that haven't previously done the quest don't know.

I have done almost all of the quests before but that doesn't mean I "absolutely know" where and when each and every single quest is activated.

I am NOT "GRAND LOREMASTER OF ESO QUEST DIALOG ACTIVATION".

Plus there are plenty of quests that once finished I can no longer see the quest giver at particular locations.

My best advice for this type of annoyance?

    Suck it up buttercup.

Well, if we're going to talk about immersion, you probably wouldn't walk into the average town with two Daedra in tow, the townsfolk would not react too well to that...

On a more practical note, the flappy wings block access to crafting stations and bankers, especially when several people have their Twilights out. Just put them away. I admit I sometimes forget when I'm playing my Petsorc, and once I even had someone whisper me asking me to desummon my pets because they couldn't reach a crafting station. About flappy wings: my sorc used to find it really bothersome for herself as well, but was such a noob that she honestly didn't know the familiars could be easily unsummoned. Since the moment she learned it she unsummons them in towns, especially at crafting stations and banks. So, my sincere apologies to anyone who might have suffered from her twilight and clannfear!

About standing in doorways: it sometimes happens to me when getting out of the door takes a couple of minutes of loading screen and in that interval someone in my family calls me because they need my help. I go afk for a little while and when I come back my character is standing in the doorway. Well, I can't help it, and at least the door is usable. It never bothers me when other people are standing in front of a door I need to enter. Actually, it makes things look more lively!

Apologies then, but it was my impression that the original poster was questioning the use of a u in courtesy, as they spelled it "cortesy" and the question was next to that and not behaviour.
