Melee magicka weapons

    Think the game definitely need something along those lines.

    It's just plain weird at the moment. There's a real bias toward mag but so much less choice. If you take out resto and shield (as the tank and healer 'weapons') and their skill lines and concentrate just on DD skills, mag has a choice of three weapons and only one skill; stam has eight and three whole skill lines.

    There are enough mag skills over all the classes that are melee range, there really should be a weapon choice that makes them make sense.

    But saying that, I also think stam need a more viable option for range; either bow reworked or something else totally new

    I've submitted multiple ideas for melee magicka weapons, or at least dual-wield magicka weapons which I would prefer that still fire ranged, and seen multiple other ways for it to happen...

    I don't care how they want to try it but they need to make it happen.

    There were official melee magicka weapons with the bound weapon spells as far back as TES3 Morrowind.
    There were mods doing the same and more with dual-wield also that far back.

    Why are the developers here so behind their counterparts in Bethesda and so far behind modders when they have the rights to all that stuff? /elephino

    I just googled this (I've ever only played a bit of Skyrim, so I have very limited knowledge of lore and all that).
    So with this said, it is actually possible, lore-wise, to have a spellcaster conjure a weightless magical melee weapon.... This could maybe be through some guild or world skill line, if it wasn't implemented in classes (since all classes are spellcasters).

    Because standing in melee as a clothie is a death sentence.

    Say that to my Mag DK main melee with 1h/s that did vet maelstorm yesterday while exchanging blows with last boss :) and ye I have been wearing only light armor well and shield and using shielding skill + burning embers to go through it :expressionless:

    Every time I have seen this come up I think it is a great idea, and find even more places for it to work. Hopefully Zeni will give us some new toys to play with somewhere down the road.

    Someone has yet to explain what melee magicka weapons offer that staves do not.

    It is certainly not the range since staves can work just well within the melee range. It is certainly not the versatility since they do not offer more versatility than staves.

    Considering range is a huge benefit in the newest content due to being able to keep dps up while mobile it does not seem practical to add such a skill line. After all it would be a liability in pretty much everything added in the past year and probably for awhile.

    Diversity.

    They could implement something with a defensive nature that could take the place of sword and board for builds that use them, mostly in PvP. You could add in melee range magicka dps that could synergise with some of the closer range magicka abilities. Even something in a monk style for healing. All of these would allow heavy attack resource management as well.
