Support ISNT helping me and I NEED HELP!

Iv been waiting now 7 days for a response from support about my issue. Below is a copy and paste of what I have sent them and my issue. This issue seems to fall on deaf ears and there is no phone customer support so Im hoping posting here will get a result.

Hello Im having an issue, MY character cant seem to get invited to groups. And cannot be whispered. I dont know why this is and I dont know how to fix it. But when others invite me all they are told is character does not exsist. Yet I do and Im right here. Iv assured Im online and active and every step Iv been told, And yes I did put a special character above the O in "Sol" but I cant possibly fix that I do not have the money to buy a rename token after I just bought the game. There should be a warning about this for people NAMING their characters so that this does not happen. OR it shouldnt be allowed if this is a known issue. Please help me as right now I can barely play with friends , Iv been waiting 7 days for help with this and this just remains in a "Waiting for agent" status , Which is ridiculous

Also note if you have set your group/guild settings to “offline” you may partly experience the above symptoms

dude i sent in one lastnight even messaged devs and all and nothing its like they litterally dont care about their dang game or playerbase at all. the transparency is nonexistant and if you file a ticket they litterally just hope you go away cause they never email you back. this is getting truly rediculous to the point of whats the point of even asking or reporting anything??? and if they do answer back its a cookie cutter pr statement instead of actual support. its got me to the point im more pissed off than happy with zos anymore. @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom

Are you in a guild? What happens when they whisper you from selecting the cycle wheel or group guild menu? (Rather than directly l)

the ONLY way anyone can whisper me/Invite me or anything like that is if they type /w @carothis NOT my character name though. If they right click and whisper me from the drop down in guild roster, Or in zone etc they all get the response "Character Does Not Exsist" So regardless of the method, Clearly its an issue with the naming. the same issue is happening to my friends Character Kal'varis Sol who has the same symbol over the O in his name.

Honestly if you just bought the game, just remake the character without any special alphanumeric key-characters and start all over again. You barely have what, maybe 40 hours at most into the character?

It is possible to get around that. As evidenced by my guild having an officer with a scharfes in his account name. Though, I will continue to mock the guildies who pronounce it as a B.

This may simply be that people are trying to key in your character's name manually, which won't work, unless they match the unicode, and let's be honest, you couldn't be bothered to tell us which accent mark you slapped on the O, what are the odds someone in zone will?

Also, given that they're getting a character does not exist error, it kinda indicates that, maybe, "Carothis Sol," was available. So, you should have picked that.

Thing is, a lot of PvPers intentionally use non-standard characters specifically to avoid idiots PMing them. So, this specific quirk of the system has a very real reason backing it up. Just, get people to invite you by right clicking your name, instead of trying to type it.

One of the PC lot might be better at guiding you (I’m xbox) but on Xbox the whispers are done at gamertag level not char level - I wonder if this is Where your issue is?

This has been going on for a week now, A week Iv been playing and Iv gotten this character to 50, Have him in a guild etc. I should not HAVE to remake, I should not HAVE to do any of that. Support should do their actual job and resolve an issue

Your account is in a guild.

Just, roll an alt. Don't worry about deleting anything right now.

Additionally as stated, Right clicking my name does not work either . Im posting this in hopes Support will get eyes on it, Unhelpful answers or putting me down for not knowing that puting a symbol over a letter would cause an issue are not helpful. So unless you plan to be helpful, Im fine with you not responding.

My main has a special character in the name and doesn't have any problems with this. OP might actually have a bugged character.

Also just so much LOL at the suggestion that OP should just delete and start entirely over with a new character as opposed to ZoS doing something about it. Y'all will let anyone just walk all over you and ask for more.

The fact that people who pay a premium $15 sub dont have access to live chat or phone support is legitimately insulting.

Oh, support is not going to see this thread. They go through the tickets. They might spend some time on the boards, but not in an official capacity. The developers see the boards, but this quirk is pretty widely known, so I'd be surprised if they were unaware.

You wanted a special character to make your character special and unique: Congrats, you got that. Now the sensor at the supermarket's automatic door no longer detects you.

I didnt do it to be special, Me and my friends did it because we where told in Elder Scrolls last names had those, This is all of our first Elder scrolls game and the lack of support and so far unhelpful community members like you are likely to make it our only one.

This problem has existed since the game launched. Be grateful that there is an option to rename your character. Used to be that we had to reroll characters to fix this. If you want support to correct it you will have to wait a bit. There are probably higher priority tickets in the queue

No one should have to wait for over a week to get help in any way, Stop making excuses for crappy support. And IF!! this is a wide known issue. It should be listed upon creating and special characters like this should NOT be allowed. not just brushed under a rug. Your arguments invalid as all parts of this actually beign an issue falls on the game itself not the player.

No, it doesn't. I can't think of a single case of a non-standard Roman letter being used in TES. Non-English phonetics, sure. But, even with the bonkers stuff like the Daedric and Dwemer names, you're not going to find a single accent mark. At least not in the original English versions.

Players use those. Like I said earlier, that's a PvP thing, because it causes the exact glitch you're describing. Which can be very nice if you want to avoid angry teenagers PMing you while you're stomping their faces into pulp in Cyrodiil. But, actually using accent marks in canon? No. Nothing comes to mind from the last 15 years. (Maybe something in Arena or Daggerfall, but nothing since then.)

EDIT: Hell, even the Daedric alphabet is just a standard Roman Alphabet, in English displayed via an alternate font.

Well, to answer your question, a simple google/forum search will show that this is a persistent problem. I don't know why they haven't fixed, could be for a number of different reasons. One possible work around would be to have every single person who interacts with you change the hotkey for exiting interfaces (alt) to a different key (assuming that workaround even works) or.... they just use your account name. It sucks, I also have a character with a special character in his name, but imagine how players from slavic and cyrillic alphabet countries feel. I'm sorry that you're mad, but at least your account name doesn't contain such characters (assuming they had the foresight not to allow those characters to be used in account creation).

Based on previous threads the best that you're going to get from support is a name change.

That's because you used the special character that more than 80% of the player base cannot type.
The fact that they can whisper you by your ID means it's not broke.

I'll say this one again. Your best option is to roll an alt, and play that while you wait for customer service to sort this mess out. And, this time, don't use a unicode character.

I have since rolled an alt, And played it some but it takes the fun out because I hate playing on alts and have to level up all over again

I cancelled my ESO+ for similar reasons today.

I'm completely disgusted by this company. The game is great, not gonna argue there, but the company, and if someone says it doesn't matter, IT DOES, the company behind it if it treats its customer base worse than dog poop (actually even that gets picked up and thrown nicely, but yeah, there's laws for that) then there's really no reason to stick around much and throw more money at them.

I was a keen spender, loved the game, but because of how much my person and everyone who keeps the show running with their wallets matter to them I gave them the big middle finger today.

Well, try to make sure you're not simply rolling the same character again. Playing a different class will rapidly evolve into a different experience from what you had last time, and will keep the leveling experience fresh.

Just, don't go off and grind your way up on Dolmens or Skyreach farming, because then you won't learn to play the class, (unless you go back and really dig through it later.)

Apparently your new to the gaming industry, But traditionally if something causes an issue in any way within your game . You block that issue and or resolve it, Neither of these have been done. There was not even a warning that adding said character could resolve in a negetive effect. Hense this is on the game itself NOT the person buying it.

Its like telling someone you can go into a field and explore for the day, But not telling them that if they bring a snack that fireants will be all over them since the fields infested with them. SEE with said warning, they wouldnt bring a snack even if they are there all day
