Lol now ZOS will make money off this issue

Whether you want to reward them with more money for not fixing the issues with Steam is fully up to you

Good to point that thread out.
Also, huge assumption that this is Zos' issue to fix since it clearly only affects steam. Maybe we should be advocating not rewarding steam with more money for not fixing their links to external servers. Best to actually know what is going on before advocating such things.

Just bought the standart edition for 10€ directly from the website and can finally login through eso64.exe. Everything else is unchanged, Summerset is available and ESO+ is active. Took me max 5min, so if you want to free yourself from steam for 10 bucks consider that

why do people buy from a third party (steam) when they could just as easily bought from the source (bethesda)?

Thank you for the information! I'm wondering if this would work for NA as well. I guess I'm a dash nervous but my desire to be free from Steam is stronger than that.
Launch from Steam should be an option, not a necessity, especially when there are tons of other titles that have the option to launch in 'offline mode,' for instances where Steam is not working properly.NTclaymore wrote: »They shouldnt get money from being stupid. This workaround should be available to every steam user. This needs to fixed!

Regarding that workaround with buying a standard edition to login without Steam, can anyone provide a more detailed instruction? Do I need to create a new ESO account or just buy it with my existing one? How do you not reinstall the game and still login after buying a new copy?
I just want to avoid frustration at this point.
