Well the last time some Deadric Prince tried to mess with the argonians he had to call his troops home and closed all Gates because they got rekt so hard

That hasn't actually happened yet. And a generation or so after that they wiped out a largish chunk of their own people by helping summon up a chunk of an Oblivion realm whose creatures harvested the souls and animated the corpses of everything that came close.
