Can zos just turn all the jewelry master writ drops into surveys instead

We all agree that these writs are not worth doing....not at the amount of grains it takes to make a plating, even the purple grain grind is no way near where the rewards should be...

So until these get fixed, or drop rates on grains gets upped....can these Master writs stop being rewarded and instead get surveys so we can get mats to maybe get a chance at more grains?

Look i'm not complaining about the rarity of grains or the need to get 80 gold grains to make a gold ring....

What i'm complaining about is how these writs drop more often than the gold grains.....Ok maybe that is it!
Make it so we can combine 10 useless master writs into one useable survey?
Ummm stuff… about stuff…or something.

That would probably defeat the intent of scarcity of jewelcrafting mats.

But as a minor quality of life improvement, I'd really like them to include one more option in the dialogue after opening a JC master writ:

Burn it with fire and stomp its worthless remains into the ground!!11eleventy

Like this please. Exactly like this.

Grains need to go from the game completely. This is just an artificial level to add to more grinding in the game.
    • Crafting writs should drop platings directly.
    • Refining raw materials should produce platings directly.
As it is for all the other equipment crafts like Black Smithing etc.

ZOS very often uses the phrase "to be in line with other abilities" when changing skills, etc. Please apply this for jewelry crafting as well.

got writ yesterday for necklace, pays out 113, sat and figured out cost, F U zos. Stick your jewellery master writs up your FAT a_ses. Very slow research times and then the high cost of grains - Zos, you guys and gals have lost your FREAKIN' minds.

The very slow research times are only there so they can shift more of their crown store research scrolls. Next to no one was buying into that *** probably, now they're probably shifting by the truck load.

Research has always been this slow even before they had the crown research scrolls.

Yeah, the 'very slow' research times is balanced by the fact there's only two sets of 9 traits to research... as opposed to 6-14x9 that the other crafting types have. (well, the fact you don't get more research slots is the main balance.)

But yeah, the whole 1/10th of a improvement material/style material thing is kind of obnoxious. (on top of the part where it doubles the storage needed, if you're not on crafting bag.)

Can't even sell these useless things in guild stores because no-one wants to do them.

I did hit a milestone though - I refined enough platinum to have around 4,000 bits and finally made it to 10 chromium and my first gold plating!

So at 4 weeks per gold mat I should have enough for a 3 piece jewelry set by Spring of 2020, how anyone can see that as too grindy I don't know! /heavy sarcasm

No, no, you're doing it wrong.

The intended way is to sit in zone chat and spam "WTS Crown Store items for gold". Open your wallet, use the new Crown Store gifting system, and raise 8mln gold. Then buy the grains needed to gold out a piece of jewelry. Easy peasy!

(And in case it wasn't obvious: /s)

Even with the price corrections of materials over time these writs will NEVER be worth doing. Please look into this. 10x the effort should reward 10x the reward. Or reduce the effort needed as it's excessive.

Look on the bright side! In 2 to 3 years from now, those MCW’s might actually be worth doing. Until then, you can save them to clog up your inventory.

At this point, i feel like I am actually better off doing level 1 JC writs. Nothing useful comes from the max level other than special jewelry (only seen one so far), and occasionally, 1/10th of a mat. I have got a purple once, 2-3 blues, and never a gold. Low levels are cheaper to do, and the survey drops (about the only real reward worth a darn) seem to be pretty consistent with low and high level writs.

Swing and a miss on introducing a balanced and rewarding system, ZOS.

Trying hard to get kicked or what? :D

    ---

The writs might be worth doing if they scaled them down one tier - i.e. those writs asking for gold now should be for purple, and current purple writs down to blue.
Legendary jewelry writs are a colossal waste of time.

I honestly think these are just the result of lazy development. They're set to generate in the same way as every other equipment writ: they generate in a random trait, are always either epic or legendary quality, and reward >40 writs for gold, and >7 writs for purple.

I can literally imagine the conversation in ZoS HQ:
"What should these writs be worth?"
"Just put them on the same value system as all the other equipment writs"

But they're definitely broken. One time I got a writ that rewarded 9 vouchers. It costed 40 purple grains (so more than 40 purple jewelry items deconstructed) and then, the kicker: Gilding Wax. Do you know where you acquire Gilding Wax? From the Master Writ Merchant. For 20 vouchers.

    What is this??

Yep....these writs need a major overhaul!

I would be fine with them making the jewelry master writs more of a rare drop if the voucher amount was increased ten fold.

Yeah they're definitely using a generic algorithm for determining all master writ rewards. Jewelry crafting as a whole feels very sloppy, as if it were an early work in progress that was rushed through development to meet the summerset release deadline. If even one single employee had looked at JC master writs, it'd be obvious that they need a massive rework.

I just hope ZOS buffs JC to match the others, instead of nerfing the others to match JC.

This, so much this. And if they didn't want to do that they could reduce the qualities required. Turn the now legendary mw's into epics keeping the vouchers the same. Then turn the epic mw's into rare and add 20 vouchers to all the ones under 20 to help cover trait cost.

I wish they would give us a Survey map instead. It’s certainly more useful than those stupid Jewelry Master crafting writs. Perhaps in a couple of years they might be worth doing, but right now they are sload poop :)

This is absolutely true. The only cost effective thing to do with these writs is destroy them.

Or at least turn them into funishings so we can fill all those empty bookcases up in our houses.
