I had a reply a bunch of pages back, but to summarize: The character isn't me, it's just an action figure I'm playing with; I like kick-butt female characters in fiction; and I don't believe in/experience 'immersion'. So why not make a pretty female character?
(Star Trek Online's new Dominion expansion's a bit annoying - to get all the new content, I had to make an ugly, male, Jem'Hadar character.)
Play both because i want to, nothing to do with silly immersion or anything i just make chars an hit things with them.
If you ever played games like the ME an DA seies where the pc is voiced an never did a pt as a female shepard or hawke/inquisitor then your doing yourselves a disservice, especially the ME series as quite frankly the female va does a hell of a better job particularly as a renegade.
So basically i play all rp games i get as both male an female an from all other angles the game allows through choice or action simply because i can
