I play male or female depending on the character I'm playing, on a lore base. I'm not a roleplayer, I don't like it, but I always follow the lore, I want a coherent character, with a coherent name, as if I was making a role play character. If i'm making an healer, I'm more likely to make a female character, if I'm making an heavy armor warrior I'm more likely to make a male character. It applies for every game with gender selection.

Mainly female - I'm female and my chars are gorgeous and have nice cabooses and since I have to see them all the time, I prefer the look of a girl one.

I also have a storage dude and a tank nord dk bright red hair pointy beard Stache look and he looks like a pirate xD

He's called Borkin von Bork Bork Bork but with umlauts.

I was going to quit paying him because meh tank but he's just too cool to delete.

On the other hand though, I'm a raging furry, and I'm bitter that my only options are nasty cats. I'd buy ten lifetime ESO subscriptions if they added those fox people from old-school ESO lore.

That's cool you can admit you can't empathize with women characters and that you have no idea what their experiences and viewpoints might be. I just hope that self-awareness applies to real life women.

I like to immerse myself in-game by trying to place my IRL self into the game. :)

Me, too. My original/initial character was a Redguard Templar, and I was drawn to the features of that race, since it looked a lot like me. lol She's now a High Elf magicka templar, though, and I tried to get her looks similar to mine, but alas, not as accurate as the Redguard race. lol Oh well...

I have 5 females and one male so I’m choosing the female poll option.

Why, because the female Redguard relates to me more than the other races and I feel they are the most attractive when toying with the creation options.

I like the Breton but the female mouth....bothers me to the point where I’ve deleted 3

I have a high elf that was as result of paying for a race change to my orginal Redguard and my male is....a Redguard too

I play both. My characters aren't built to reflect myself. They are their own personalities.

Well said! And I do this pretty much the same way.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Always female, because I personally find it too odd to genderbend in an MMO. This is a personal idiosyncrasy, and I expect no one else to feel this way, it's just that, for me, my character represents me, and so I find it too personally awkward to be represented by the wrong gender. My ladies all have their own unique personalities, though!

I'm typically female even in offline games, too, whenever given the option. I just get tired of playing the brunette white guy with a bad case of 5 o'clock shadow who seems to have been the star of soooo many games for so very long, even if I've loved the games AND their (often scruffy-faced) protagonists.
