This has been going on since, like, ever.

IF it kills you, it takes the stuff back and adds new items for next person!
Also to alleviate the full inventory you will be allowed to access your inventory while the chest is open so you can Make room before the chest attacks you.
If you clear it then the chest acts like normal and doesn't come alive after you.

You can have it in bank and still pick it up.Pink_Violinz wrote: »Remember, treasure maps can drop from chests. If you have the same one in your bank or on a character, you can't pick it up.

That aside, in my opinion the majority of treasure maps are not better than white glyphs. I personally destroy all except Vvardenfell, Summerset, Stonefalls, Malabal Tor, Glenumbra and Bangkorai. I find the other overland sets are easy enough to farm.
It just seems strange to me that people would rather have no chest than to loot someones leftovers.
it's not strange at all, the fact of the matter is, while there is the "left over" chest a new one can't spawn, in other words.. it basically blocks other people's chance at getting loot

I remember the devs saying that the respawn timer starts as soon as the container is opened, and it will respawn regardless of whether or not it’s empty.
No need to feel like “you have to take someone else’s trash”. It’ll go away on its own.

The issue is that timer. I read somewhere else that the timer is like 10 minutes. That's wayyyy too long, it should be a minute or two tops. That way it doesn't interrupt the respawning of new chests / nodes in busy farming zones.
...or just make maps stack...voila problem solved...at least this one...Make all loot from chests, resource nodes, portals and similar a "package" of either take all or nothing. Since so many players cannot or will not adhere to the basic rules of courtesy, shove it down their throats.
does that make the "package" take only one slot in your inventory until you do have time to clear stuff? that'd be awesome. if not, it wouldn't fix the problem.
Simply make the package auto-open and its contents go in the appropriate bag. It can't be that difficult to program it in a way it doesn't inconvenience the player at all.
EDIT: Yes, treasure maps are an issue. The solution is to autodestroy the duplicate. For the player looting the container, it doesn't make a difference anyways.
If that option meets too much resistance, prompt the player. "This action will destroy treasure map xy. Do you really want to loot this container?" Pick no, send the map, reloot the container.

As opposed to running up to the chest hoping for sweet loots, discovering its been used, cleaning it out because I hate leaving trash for someone else to pick up, and thinking the other player is a jerk for leaving their trash behind which is now cluttering my inventory.
So yeah, I'd rather people picked up their trash and cleared the chest. Not everyone feels that way, sure, but if someone leaves trash behind in a chest, I think they are being a selfish jerk.

So by your standards it is fine that the trash clutters the inventory of person A, as long as they loot it all, but not okay if it clutters yours. Sounds like a personal issue.

Since they got gold to take the trash, yes.
LOL.
This used to bother me as well. Now I just laugh and move on. It doesn't help to get bent out of shape over something you cannot control.
I agree that people should have the courtesy to clean up on their own. I don't think it will ever happen.
I don't use auto-loot because I want to see what I am picking up, but I always take everything.
People gonna do what they do. So many other things I would like to see worked on before this.

30 seconds is not enough to clear your inventory sometimes.
Make that 3 minutes and you have a deal.
how long does it take to press I, click the misc bag, grab crap [like husks for example] and throw it out?
Personally takes me about 4-5 seconds, topsMake all loot from chests, resource nodes, portals ad similar a "package" of either take all or nothing. Since so many players cannot or will not adhere to the basic rules of courtesy, shove it down their throats.
that could work too
1. Summon merchant
2. Look around to see where merchant spawned
3. Interact with merchant and wait for interact lag to end.
4. Auto-sell junk that doesn't actually sell anything
5. Try to figure out which item you can spare that's less valuable/usefull than whatever junk is left in the chest.
That does take me more than 30 seconds depending on how much coffee I've had.
I do something much simpler. I never have any issues at chests..and I DO loot everything.
If $inventory.freespace < 10 {vendor stuff} else {continue}
Yes. And I usually only run out of inventory space if I'm participating in guild events and therefore not going at my own pace.
But honestly, without Wykkyd's toolbar to tell me what my inventory it, I would run out of space all the time because I don't keep opening my inventory to check.
