Quest "A Hireling of House Telvanni" impossible to advance

Sun-In-Shadow does not appear in the Council Audience Chamber in Sadrith Mora when she is sponsored by Magister Theran and promoted from slave to hireling.

This quest keeps getting broken for no apparent reason. Just get it right please ASAP and stop touching anything tied to that quest after that.
Please fix it ASAP.

Sounds like a similar issue to what people are experiencing in another Morrowind quest which I just wrote a thread about, maybe there's a connection to the server issues going on right now

12 hours later still not switched.

    Tried the following:

Dropping quest (redoing it from start effectively, GRRRR)
    ReloadUI
    All Addons Off
    Logged out for 30 min
    Logged out for 8 hours.
Blade of Wow on all the NPCs in the room (out of frustration)

If I recall correctly, then one of my characters completed that quest between May 11 and May 19 (inclusive). Sun-in-Shadow was already in the Council Audience Chamber when my character arrived to watch her change in status from slave to hireling.

So, either the flaw is evident only in some instances and not in others, or it has been introduced since my character completed the quest (or both).

Or, of course, the flaw may only be evident in the game software running on a Mac, on XBox One, and/or on Playstation 4. Or perhaps it occurs only on the NA megaserver, or only on the EU megaserver.

That is why you must include the platform and megaserver on which you play TESO in your report. ( Guidelines For Bug Report Forum)

I did this after Summerset launched on 5/21 even though I had the precursor quest before that. I'm also on PC-NA.
Maybe you should try it on a character that hasn't done it before Summerset.

I also Blade of "WOWed" every npc in there for good measure. lol

Frankly, I do not know what you mean by "Blade of 'WOWed' every npc in there ..." -- okay, I suppose that you killed all of the Telvanni NPCs who were in attendance? LOL indeed.

As you suggest, I do expect to have another character questing in Vvardenfell in the near future. .....

I came back after a long absence for Summerset. I figured I'd finish up the last few quests I had left undone in Morrowind before heading into the new content. I am now stuck on this as well, It being the only quest left in Morrowind for me is a little frustrating as I can't get the completion achievement until they fix this. I play on NA server on PC. Hope it gets fixed soon.

Also having this problem. I go to the chambers, no argonian even though that's where the quest tells me to go and the quest markers are there.

    PC NA.
    A Hireling of House Telvanni.
On the step to "Talk to Sun-in-Shadow in the Audience Chamber" but she is nowhere to be seen. Nothing to interact with or trigger up there. Everyone else I've seen come up into the room seemed to be having the issue as well.
Relogging didn't help, leaving the area didn't help, and it's been several hours since I first got stuck here and that passage of time did not help.

I'm experiencing the same. Restarted the quest, disabled addons, killed everything in sight, relogged, etc. I waited around and watch people come into the audience chamber, stand around for a minute and leave.

I just hit this wall myself a few minutes ago. PC NA.

Sun-in-Shadow NPC is not spawning in the Audience Chamber as part of a stage in A Hireling of House Telvanni quest. His arrow marker is floating in position but the actual NPC is not here and can't be interacted with in order to progress.

Something which all of you might try is locating Sun-In-Shadow. If I recall correctly, she was not in the Audience Chamber when my character arrived, but she arrived after a noticeable delay of several seconds. If I recall correctly, some of the council members made remarks before her arrival.

So, she does not begin in the Audience Chamber, and she could be outside of the chamber or even outside of the building. (Maybe she is afraid to enter?)

Select the quest in your Quest Journal and choose Show On Map. It might show where your character is supposed to meet her. If it shows the Audience Chamber building, then exit your character to the anteroom, etc., until your character is outside. If she is not there, then return to the Audience Chamber.

(This issue has been on my mind ever since I first replied to the OP.)

Ya and that happens from time to time with other quests where an NPC physically moves from one location in one space to another location in the same space. But not zoning. Now whether the designer intended for the NPC to look like they were arriving or not, I couldn't say, but I don't think the NPC is physically traveling from several zones away to this location after the player hit's this stage. It is likely the NPC is meant to spaw in right after the player lands in this location or already be there when the player arrives.

Frankly I can't even remember where I saw them last. I'd go look there if I could ):

I definitely tried all that. The NPC is either not spawning correctly, or is in the ground or above our heads. The arrows aren't attached to the characters in some cases - just a spot, and the NPC is generally in that spot. So the arrow is there, just not the NPC.

I watched another player basically mirror what I was doing - leaving, going back up - going outside, checking the journal, going back inside etc etc for about three minutes before I said something in chat. And waiting around after a relog for about 10 minutes, I watched at least 5 other do the same before I made my first post.

The NPCs are all just different copies always at the locations but invisible to us players unless on the right phase of the quest. There is no "finding them moving between locations" or "waiting for them to arrive".
    It's an instant code check.

FYI, Sun-In-Shadow was in the central tower ground floor right inside before this point, which she is no longer there either since the tag for this quest tells that version to go invisible at this point for realism.

If I had to guess the cause of this bug....it seems to be that both versions are tagged to go invisible when the quest reaches this stage rather than one going visible and the other invisible and then switching back status after this stage of the quest or to a complete new version at her home for future quests.
This is a simple common issue that was easy to fix back in TES3 Morrowind modding. It's practically shameful how the developers could miss this and not correct it fast also.

There's literally nowhere to locate her at.
She doesn't exist anywhere for me.
I've sat well over fifteen minutes in the audience chamber as well, so it's not a question of waiting enough time for her to show up from a trigger.
The quest journal sends me exactly to where I'm going, she's just not there.

I mean, good for her for actually managing to GTFO of slavery and the entire game world and everything without my help, but she could have at least sent me on another quest chain before she noped out.

I finally got a response saying "they are aware of the bug and working on it". However, the please click the button to be notified part didn't make any sense, and makes me wonder if the first bit was true even. But regardless, this is one the top 100 quests in the game, as it gives a skill point quest (and a personality).

BTW, CSR told me to /bug standing in the location. Not sure if this is different from the "Get Help?" Submission from right clicking on the Quest, but might be worth doing for everyone stuck here. I'll be doing it when I get hme.

Ah, ye Blade of Woe was it? I, too, played World or Warcraft for a long time. Ordinarily, I command the game client to make a screenshot, then use /bug to report a problem in the location where it occurs. However, in some situations such as combat, the screenshot will be made but the report must await an opportunity to write and submit it.

For what it is worth, your remark is probably the first time that I have ever considered whether there is a context menu for a quest listed in the Quest Journal. Either that, or I discovered it within a few weeks after I started playing TESO in December 2014 and subsequently forgot all about it. Thanks for mentioning it.

Just saying me too. Broken Quest. They used a lot of these floor pool/portals as transportation in Summerset and this is one of the few places where the same pool teleporters are used. If I'm a betting man I'd guess they borrowed code from here or came back and updated the code here with summerset shiney newness and broke the quest in the process. probably thought it was a low risk update and blew away the quest hook/trigger in the process.
