i can't stand that popup either, but if they didn't remove it today with 4.06, then i wouldn't expect it to be removed until the next patch maintenance, which would probably be this coming monday

I just installed and configured it, works and this annoying piece of garbage attempt at force feed marketing is banished.

Not only it's intrusive and annoying, it's also utterly counter-productive for them and that's why:

while before I gladly used to check the new items in the Store at the window showing up, now I blindly close the window (immediately) and I'm already accustomed to do so by now, hence I'm totally missing if there are new items for sale or special offers and the situation won't change in the slightest.

Good job, what marketing genius of yours thought about that?

More then likely they are listening but probably being trumped by higher ups as too bad, it stays. thus they cant comment on it. Too bad too.

I honestly doubt this now. At first I was willing to give Gina, Jessica, Jason etc. the benefit of the doubt and assume they were just in the usual Community Manager role of having to give out unpleasant news because they had no choice as ESO was new and things were changing fast.

Now? They've had a lot of time to either make the community's feelings known, or walked out the door. Neither seems to have actually occurred. On which basis I can only conclude that either ZOS has them shackled in a dungeon somewhere, or they really are at peace with it at this point.

The old way wasn't fine. I pay a subscription to play this game. This means that every time a window pops up and wastes some of my play time, I have literally paid ZOS for the privilege of them showing me adverts for Crown Store rubbish that I will never buy.

I can't agree more. It's annoying enough to get a giant ad on every login for every character. The fact that the ad is for something in already own is much, much worse.

This thing is driving me NUTS! I already login much less than I used too because ZO$ is driving me away but now I see this damn whole screen POS popup EVERY SINGLE TIME I log in on any character? This is annoying AF and HAS to GO ASAP! This is now making me want to login even less than I already am. Way to go ZO$, FFS what a joke!

at the very least it should recognize IF someone already has it and not display it to those who do.... OR show it once in a 24 hour period for the entire account .... instead of EVERY time you log in while swapping characters

Old way was fine "show me it and when things changed". Now it is every character every load? Nope, screw it, they are just being greedy. Not buying anything more till it is back the way it was. I agree. Worst, unethical marketing tactics deployed thus far.

I had no issue with the way it was before, but there are larger issues than the replacement of advertisements.
• Don't advertise items already purchased - fix the drop down in the Crown Store so that "items I've purchased" (appropriately) do not display in the Crown Store. This is not a programmatic mistake, but unethical marketing that could cause a community member to make an unnecessary purchase
• Pay-2-Win - note: I had this discussion with my guild, and I may be misinformed about the research scrolls. I had no issue with the strategy of the Crown Store prior to Scalecaller, but now I fear the game is turning into a Pay-2-Win environment that will not only divide the community, but poison it with the addition of Gifting and the existing cooldowns on research scrolls (limitations on earned in-game items). Gifting... is the huge issue here. Toxic effects from this will lead to an increase in scams, bots, farming and disruptive community behaviours that are completely opposite of what this game was built on. We have amazing players that not only care for the game in its entirety, but care for its community as well.

I'm considered a "whale" who is ZOS' ideal customer, but like I said, I don't believe in the recent manipulations. While Crown Store items are still typically considered a choice, the cooldowns on research scrolls (for example) is a push to limiting free-play activities. And this is just the start.

This may not seem like a huge change (or issue) for the community in its infancy, but if you really think about the effects this has on the future of ESO... it is dangerous for both parties.

Yeah, I don't even understand why they allow this. You know the cash for gold market will take off like a rocket. Just a matter of time before zone chat is filled with "Gifting (crown store item) for gold, whisper with offer", etc.

Honestly, I am still thinking they have another game in the works. I think they are experimenting with different ways to monetize their new game and are using ESO as the test bed to see how different ideas work. A lot of people wanted Crown item gifting, and I think they want to work out the details with ESO so they can have that in their new game on launch day.
