In PVE I main heals. I enjoy providing resources for my group, whether its boosting their damage, helping them manage their resource pools, or just being a helping hand to res when its necessary. I like the support niche, I like being able to be a utility to my team. Or I just like being needed and it feeds my ego

100% support character. Healing, buffing, debugging. Throw out occasional damage if no support is needed.

What makes my elf be a healer is that she has the nurturing heart and soul for it - a calling.

What makes her happy is healing allies faster than foes can harm them. Oh and dropping shards for resources and EleDrain for buffing. Oh, and lightning blockade for concussing and stuffs like that.

In describing the role to someone else, she would stress the most important part of the job: Being the one who willingly gets blamed when someone dies. ;)

For me being a healer is switching back to my dps main because of potato 3k dps DDs who think they are OP and blame you for everything anyway
I have some characters, play the game and do stuff. It's fun sometimes.

This. Only way being a healer in PUG group dungeons is to go hybrid route i.e. Restoration + Lightning Staff and do as much as DPS as you can. I easily do 10k DPS without even seriously trying (magicka Sorcerer and Bosmer...).

Being heal/buff bot in PUG is complete waste of time and healers are unfortunately mostly obsolete in the most group dungeons... Sure when I once in a time I get a "high" DPS group (i.e. 30+k) it's all right to use Warhhorn and Elemental Drain otherwise no, use Elemental Rage and slot some DPS spell. I see in the first pull which group I get so adapt to it.

Also SPC set is useless in your typical average PUG (~15-20k DPS). I run Julianos as you never count on others to do properly their role. I mean I constantly have situations when I type boss mechanics and people still do what they shouldn't than die (and maybe say sorry).

    TL; DR
Buffing group with low-average DPS is massive wate of time - just heal when needed and do DPS by yourself.

The cowardly Wood Elves are best noted for their unwillingness to engage in a face-to-face attack; a Bosmer will strike at you from every side except the front. You won't cross swords with a Bosmer, but you might catch an arrow in the throat. Be wary in forests and jungles, and watch your back.

I find much truth in what you say. I generally heal for disorganized 'gaggles' at WBs or group (Normal only) dungeons as either a duo with my running mate or with strangers who each have their own agenda. So I know what you mean about supporting less than optimized groups. I kind of enjoy the required flexibility. While I slot many normal healer skills (EleDrain, Shards, Blockade, Ext Ritual, Mutagen, Healing Springs, Bol), I also slot some that give me good flexibility when I need to contribute solid dps or even hold my ground when the boss decides he really likes the healer (Reflective light, Sweeps, Channel Focus). What I give up that many healers run is Combat Prayer - up time on members of disorganized groups who run all around is puny and +8% to low dps is still low dps, lol. I also slot the MG ultimate for passives + dps.

Oh yes, I forgot to type Combat Prayer as another useless skill (like Warhorn and Ele. Drain) in your average group dungeon PUG. Or when you drop that floating Orb from Undaunted skill line and nobody uses it :/...
Just wait 1st trash pull to see who you got and adapt you skill bars according to group DPS.

Being a healer in random normal PUGs means that too often I am also the tank because the person who queued as the tank can't be arsed to slot a taunt.

Given that I main a tank, this is annoying AF. My healers certainly can heal and tank, but if I wanted to tank, I would have queued on my actual tanks.

Depend on the level, but yes healer is hybrid, even in vet dlc you should try to do some damage.
Has two setups normal and vet, normal if dps focused vet is healing and had shield. Also has two trial setup.
Agree on warhorn, shooting star tend to work better unless good group.
On the other hand few healers get kicked because of low dps.
And we keep the fake tank alive :) And yes you feel it even in an normal.
I say I prefer sorcerer over templar on non vet dlc because higher dps. Templar shine in dlc and trials.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Just played Wayrest Sewers I in veteran for pledge (didn't play it when it was two ? days ago). Didn't even want to do HM as 2x DD where CP ~120 and ~130 and DK tank was almost 180 (he actually farmed Toothrow gear).

Tank was very compentent and would play with him again but DDs... I typed to hold block when Allene do Suprise Attack or they get one shot dead. Guess what happened? I was constantly over and over and over again res two DDs and typed to hold block. At least one learned to hold block after some time so I had to res only one DD...

And here comes statistics... It's typical dungeon run. Being buff bot means you are useless.

    20180512165758_1.jpg

Seriously, I understand DDs don't have firepower as they have low CPs and who knows what gear but not holding block... I was very close to completely switch front bar to lightning staff and proper skills and finish her with tank only (again, he was very compentent) and let DDs lay down as they can't press block.

But I just have to play veteran dungeons to level up Undaunted to 9 and I'm going to heal only in Cyrodiil PvP.

What many here are saying is what I've also picked up playing my wife's healer. You need to be a hybrid. Which isn't hard at all when you are spec'ing for high magicka for both dps and heals. (Spec'ing a little more for sustain on a healer than pure dps though) The three key skills for a good healer seem to be...

    1. Having a sense for when damage is ABOUT to happen.
    2. Having a good sense for how much you can focus on DPS without letting your group die.
    3. Knowing how to keep complete idiots alive when they do everything that you would do if you were intentionally trying to get yourself killed.

I must confess...I find number three to be optional depending on how mad I get with them.

You can't save people who refuse to follow boss mechanics even when you type in chat. I always type mechanics in chat but playing in European server is problematic cause big language barrier. And then you have players who just totally shut down chat...

And then we have special mob mentality - NEVER heal DDs who charge into huge mob packs. Let them get insta gibbed (see that all the time) so they learn to let tank to take aggro. It's the only way that some can learn. I don't waste magicka on those types, too.

PUG healing is the worst. It's rare for anyone to pop orbs and even more rare to get DPS that know what they're doing. I just throw on a DPS set like Julianos, keep up my HoTs and if you die, chances are high it was most likely your own fault (love those people that stand in stupid and blame you).

Sure if you get Alcast, Gilliamtherogue and similar type DDs and that happens 1 in 10 times in group dungeon PUGs. Following your advice and using meta builds which are created for mentioned top players is the massive waste of time.

Buffing group with 15-20k DPS when you alone do almost 10k as healer? Yea right.

What makes not pop orbs though? I find when I heal. I remind dps especially young dps to pop orbs. I think would help if there was some sort of reminder or indicator on how some skills work in group play. :O it makes so sad when a take takes a back step my circle of protection (rip 5k stamina). There's a lot of other buffs or support that I have to remind people how to use. It helps in voice chat, but in text chat it's quite a journey.

I'm old school so my terms for a healer is to first and foremost heal. I feel that all new prospective healers should learn how to heal, properly, when in a group. It might seem easy but it really is about the class you bring to heal and how you manage each class mechanic.

You can go shield healing with both sorc and dk, go priest beast mode aka Templar, go positional healing with wardens, or dots galore for nb. Or maybe just the usual muta springs prayer orb combo.

Thats my take on it. Honestly, I really feel that there has to be a fourth role, support. It bugs me personally that healers are considered support but I get where the stance is coming from. Heal first, buffs later.

In Europe almost all countries speak different languages and many of them have dubbed TV program so even when you learn foreign language in school it's basically game over as you never heard it again unless you work for foreigners.

We had nightmare last night for vCoH II pledge. We came to the last boss and typed in chat to not kill ghosts. Twice failed as one DD constantly killed them. French DD even typed in French as he thought maybe other DD was French so he didn't understand English. Nope. Still killing. We kicked him after third failed attempt as I initiated vote. Came another DD and we quickly did HM without zero deaths. Then tank asked do we have vFG II for pledge. We had and did it HM, too.

So that kicked DD clearly didn't understand both English and French or maybe even shut down chat completely.

I mostly don't have problem with various languages (except mostly Romance one), but most have so yes, language barrier is huge when you need coordinated play. There is a reason why German and French have their own/separate zone chat.

Yeah for most part people pop my orbs. Be it random vet or normal. If nothing else it heals quite well. Makes me question other morph though. Well when mystic is Poped it does serious damage, but dot isn't that great.

Yeah troomar is right circle of protection has be on bar 1 or 2 in dungeons for it be effective enough. Trials it works out but still 2 might be direction that I am going. You can drafts of new version in the thread.

If in a pug group I use my pet sorc with the matriarch slotted. Can heal well enough and in most cases where there is a lack of dps I make up for it. In good groups the dps have enough survivability to only need a occassional burst heal anyways. The extra dps really helps speed runs.

I like to play when I'm high and I find it way easier to heal people during a Trial or Dungeon than to try and keep up a rotation while trying to avoid enemy AoE. As a healer I noticed you also don't have to worry about finding/killing the important enemies first, you know like as a dps you have to kill specific targets first in certain runs, where as a healer just keep you eyes on the other players and follow the group with heals or even easier keep your eyes on the tank. Also you're almost guaranteed a spot in the trials as a healer (Almost)...............That being said ya boi has a Healer/Tank for trials hmu Xbox One N/A server GT: SUG3 N4STY

I'm absolutely in love with my Nightblade PvP healer. It's not a pure support character, but rather someone who tosses heals around, saves people with wards and big Ultimate burst heals.

Very mobile, can do solid burst damage for finishers. Not much in terms of group buffs/utility, but one can't have everything, right?

In PvE it does its job, but I understand why some people would prefer other classes for healing, especially considering my lack of proper pve healing gear.

i play as a healer 2 years and she always was a hybrid (dd mostly, then PL, BoL and Ritual for healing are enough, Shards for group resources). Damage around 20-24K is ok to support the group that way. No SPC or Prayer. Like already mentioned this skills are useless when you buf low DPS players.

It's kinda sad - buff high DPS players and they will get muuuuch more DPS, while low DPS players literally gets nothing.
