All my characters disappeared after this latest update

My first time doing a beta on PTS for the game so maybe this is supposed to happen, but I have been trying out the new Summerset stuff for the last few weeks, trying a couple of different builds with new characters and not using my existing ones. But just updated after the update this morning, logged in, and all characters are gone. I just have option to create brand new characters. Was this supposed to happen? I know the characters aren't meant to survive over to release, but this just seems odd to me to lose everything in the middle of testing. Anyone have any suggestions?

They copied over the EU characters, so any existing characters on the PTS got deleted. It's so that EU people get a chance with their character copies instead of only having templates (which is now what NA has). 100% intentional.

It is supposed to happen. Each two weeks (or three with this update), the character copy is whiped and the other server's copy is updated. Week 1-3 were NA characters, week 4 and other will be EU.
It's the same for every PTS cycle, except that until now it was on a two week cycle.

Natural part of the PTS cycle.
First 2 or so weeks, NA players get to use their characters, then EU players get to use their characters.
Because you (probably) dont have any characters on the EU megaserver, you have to start from scratch

So what happens at the end of this coming three weeks?

Does the PTS close down, or do we get to carry on playing with our current characters until the next test/update/patch (in this case the EU live server characters, and the NA template or newly created characters)? How does it work?

It used to be that EU characters got their copy all the way up to the start of the next PTS cycle, but the past couple of times they've copied the NA characters over again about a month after the patch hits Live. The PTS remains up and running the entire time, usually updated with whatever minor patches Live has gotten when they do the character re-copy.

Usually the last character copy will be present on the pts until the next update is planned. So from 21.5. you'll have the same characters for the next 2-3 months.
Previously, I think in both the CWC and Dragon Bones PTS, there was a final copy of NA characters in the last week. This might happen this time aswell, though I doubt it.

One more question: am I right in thinking that if I delete one of my PTS copied characters, that character will not be deleted on the EU live server?

Nothing you do on PTS affects live

Nothing ever gets copied back. Se deleting won't affect live either.

With the PTS, your better off to not get attached to your characters, as they can get wiped at pretty much anytime. And this can happen weeks after new content gets released.
