The server hasn't been down for 24 hours yet so your math is faulty.

    6 HOURS = 24 HOURS

This does explain why the chat window is being bombarded by people trying to sell Main Quest line loot for hundreds of gold, people can't into math.

Sadly with how people have been reacting lately, they would state the same even if it was down 30 minutes. For some it helps them feel better to complain. I find complaining does very little in the world. And they should just find something to occupy their time.

Morning - can't get into the game
    Day - Work
Get home- can't get into the game
    = 1 day can't play
    = 4 days early access

Life lesson- Australia and I daresay the world have different peak times than the US
  • thageecub18_ESO
True the math is faulty on a fundamental level, however as most people sleep at least 6-8 hours a day we can add that on to the down time...now there is also the concept of 'work' which tends to take up around 9 hours including travel time, generally leaving around 3-4 hours for people who work and sleep to play ESO... Throw in time zone differences and BAM, the current server maintenance loses someone a full day of play time, hence people being a tad annoyed at the server downtime... let alone the crappy megaserver maintenance schedule which basically kills every Wednesday and Sunday night of gaming for Australians.

    Epic Fail.

@Valison‌ so break out the oars and row yourselves to a better timezone.

It's unfortunate that you guys got screwed because of timing but since MMOs are world-wide games there are no times that are not peak times, I assure you, there will be an instance of everyone getting boned at one point or another in this games life-cycle.

i regards to time zones i used to play a game i forget what it is now but it would have 3 shut downs a week and the shut downs were never at the same time so people wasnt effected by a peak shut down as often worked out u would have 1
1 peak shut down a week which was cool

To some extent it would be nice to not have to always be affected by maintenance, but at the same time it is nice to know at least there is a schedule of when you are going to get screwed over so you can at least be prepared.

I will forego the vent that has been building over this server maintenance.

It would be of great benefit if you were to set maintenance as "planned" and "emergency".

Lets discuss "early" access. I am wondering if now those people who have spent money and have been locked out for a great part of the early access offer are to be compensated. It just looks like you have received monies for 'extended Beta'.

I appreciate your attempts to have a speedy recovery of the server, however when you ran scope for this project why did you not consider an overflow server as an option.

    Anyway, just one persons opinion.

It is rather frustrating when people wait 3+ years for a game to come out...

Plan to take off work so they can play said game...

Reserve it early because clearly we are dedicated fans...

And have to wait for server maintenance during the DAY TIME which should be avoided. I applaud you for trying to work on the NA servers overnight but going into the daytime stinks royally.

I don't understand all the complaints. I understand the frustration, and if you have read the dev team updates, you'd know they are working on bringing everything online.

So far, this has been a very smooth launch for me. No queues and no sitting at my computer waiting to get a chance to login while other players are playing.

This is an online product that requires a lot of interconnected systems. These systems aren't fail proof and do fail.

I know the maintenance downtime sucks, but be fortunate for what has been an exceptionally smooth launch (no launch is perfect).

    To each their own.

You had a smooth launch? That's awesome (thumbs up)

Not everyone was so lucky. Why don't more people show a lil empathy to their fellow players lol.

This is very true, but when I took the day off to play EoS and I can't play EoS.... I will rant on forums.

I agree that having server maintenance happen during the daytime is not always the best practice. That being said, I do not think that the server being down for maintenance during the daytime during the launch week is a bad thing. All of those problems that everyone was experiencing will hopefully be fixed and we will all come back to a better product than before.

That what beta is for. They had enough OPEN beta to work out these kinks. The people who preordered it for "early access" are getting to test out more bugs so the people who didn't reserve it get a working copy? Seems flawed.

Also, remember.... The server has now been down for 7 hours, so our last night playing got cut short as well.

I partially agree with you. However, during open beta people were not getting their accounts hacked and losing their bank in the process. Also, remember that the game has not officially opened yet. We are still in pre-release. Yes, a raw deal for those of us who wanted the extra play time. I am being optimistic that we will have a better product when the game comes back online.

I feel that if they communicated the issue with some sort of effort to make your community understand, people would get over it a lot faster, or even be an almost non-issue for a lot of people.

I'd like to think that and for some people it would but we'll see. There is a thread about it coming up soon and I'll bet you still see the same stuff.
