Now BSW is apparently saught after again. Everyone is running to the golden to get it. But why? If scathing, necro, julianos, and netch was all better than BSW 2 months ago, what changed?

BSW also increases your chance to cause the "burning" status effect. This will help mDKs with the upcoming change to Combustion. Combustion will now give you 500 magicka once ever 5 seconds if you proc the burning status effect.
The 5th piece bonus of BSW reads:
(5 items) When you deal damage with a Flame Damage ability, you have a 15% chance to apply the burning status effect to the enemy and increase your Spell Damage by 525 for 8 seconds. This effect can occur once every 12 seconds.
Basically, when it procs- you now get 525 spell damage AND 500 magicka (if Combustion hasn't procced recently).
I may swap out my Silks of the Sun for Burning Spellweave... but I prefer a guaranteed 400 spell damage 100% of the time vs 525 spell damage 75% of the time.
Who knows. Either way- it may pair well with my 5pc Innate Axiom (since it increases the heals from Draw Essence AND Coagulated Blood).

Burning Spellweave doesn’t actually proc Burning. It procs its own unique Burning effect - the normal Burning status effect stacks with it.

Wow. That's news to me! Thanks for enlightening me. I wonder if its "burning" effect will proc Combustion, then?
