Maybe they should lease them to us at 8.3% monthly interest rate, then after a year of making 12 equal payments they will have collected double the original cost of the mount!

Don't worry! All the extra money will go to more content right?!

    Guys?!

More content can't be bad, right?!

    Guys!?

The game I used to play called Shaiya had this

One of the most disgusting monetization practices I've ever come across

Also a bunch of Nexon games run on that model. Spend real money to rent stuff? No.

You can rent a jet ski but you don't get to keep it.

Yeah, not particularly interested in doing that either.

Let me phrase it this way, "Spend real money to rent cosmetic items in a game? **** that noise."
What I am getting at is this is entertainment, it's a service, it makes you happy.

I doesn’t make me happy paying for things I don’t get to keep.

Also your examples, you are trying to hard. This whole game is rented. From eso+ to the very fact that one day the server will be shutdown and everything will be gone. And no that doesn’t make me happy either.

In quite a few MMOs there are 7-day and 30-day temporary mounts and then permanent versions of those mounts. The temporary mounts allow the developer to offer a higher chance at a rare mount that may only last a few days. For example, you may be able to acquire a 7-day Radiant APEX mount for less gems or have a higher chance of it being in your crate.

I think this along with rare temporary pets would be a fun and exciting addition. It also would encourage people to get more Crown Crates and perhaps improve Crown Crate sales.

So this would be fun to you? Fun and exciting additions would be earning mounts through drops and achievements. Not this terrible system. This system would actually make me quit ESO and that says a lot. if you want this type of system go play Maplestory or something.

Lets discuss this idea in a constructive manner. Let me point out that this game is all pixels. Nothing we have in the game is real it's all there for our entertainment. An easy to attain "rental mount" wouldn't hurt anyone and may actually bring more joy to that person's day.

In addition, it may actually take away a person's want for the mount all together. Maybe it didn't seem as great as they had hoped? Perhaps the "rental mounts" would just be a daily reward. It could add more variety and flavor to the game.

No, no and no! We pay money for those crates and want to keep the shiny things we get from them.

nope. i don't even bother with those in WoW or GW2, and there you get them through gameplay, often as part of the event. paying actual money for those? heck no.

I find it to be the opposite of fun and exciting.

Play to win yes. A daily reward to try before you buy. Not pay to win a temporary mount, it’s encouraging gambling addictions and overall fuelling the fire of rage at the crown crates, and they certainly don’t need any help with that.

Exactly nothing in the game is real so why would you want to "rent" a mount. If you wanna see it then just preview it in the crown store.

Tell me one thing: Point out 1 person in this thread that this idea would bring joy too. Pointing at yourself don't count.

And you mentioned earlier that it works in other games. Want to know why? Different player base. And the games you did bring up, are free to play games, not buy to play. So also a completely different model. Is there any buy to play games that has a rental feature? I can't think of any off the top of my head.

personaly I like crown crates in moderation as an opportunity to get some removed outfits that I may have missed. I cannot think of a single person who actualy buys crates for consumables. and what you are offering is to add yet another crappy consumable. no. just no.

I like them as well. I buy them with my ESO Plus crowns that I get every month. I like the excitement of opening them because I can never decide what to buy from the crown store. And I always turn those consumables into gems. If I ever got a rental mount in place of something permanent, that would drive me away from getting them.

If I am to ever see a mount in my free crown crates I would like it to be REAL. Imagine earning an apex mount only to find out it will go back to oblivion in 7 days. No thanks...

Yes, gambling addicts. You’re aware you’re advocating a literal mental disease, right?

According to the DSM-5 gambling is an addictive disorder not a disease. Furthermore, whether you can gamble in the game or not is not going to help or hurt their disorder. They can still seek other ways to gamble online, such as internet casinos, other games with crates, a number of cell phone products. The solution to the disorder is never to treat the symptoms but to treat the disorder.

if someone really has a gambling addiction they are better suited to seek help through health care professionals.

I am advocating trial mounts because I think they are fun and it would be nice to get something like a mount that is rare to try.

Okay so explain the need for someone to rent a reskinned version of a mount they already have. I.E. Why would I want to waste my money to rent a senche when I already know how they look when they run, walk, etc. If I see a mount that I like in the preview I buy it. Nobody in their right mind would use this feature and it would make crown crates even less appealing since you have to add these on top of the already crappy consumables you get.

    No thanks.

I think the loot crates are saturated with enough crap as is. I am already spending money on chance, so why would I ever want to receive a temporary reward instead of a permanent one? Would you like to spend $15 on a chance to get something you can only use temporarily, or would you rather spend $15 for a chance to own it forever? I can't think of any reason why I would choose the former over the latter.
