Yeah the ESO community is horrible worst MMO community I've been apart of if this wasn't an Elder Scrolls game I would have left long ago.

Try SWTOR, then come back and look at that comment again. That game has levels of hatred and toxicity ESO could never achieve.

So I am sure not one to judge people at all but during my short time period on this game I have definitely ran into quit a few people who talk crap on low levels they play with and I just don’t understand why they do so, if you have such a problem with people why stay in a group with them and not just leave? Yes this is probably a stupid post but for such a beautiful game why do people still have to hate, I may never understand.

To be honest I think it's probably just a lot of frustration in how the low levels disrupt the higher levels game experience by doing stuff that max level players know is dumb but the max players all just get tired of having the same problem come up over and over until the max player is just too fed up to explain it again or be nice anymore. For example, after waiting for almost a half hour or more to get into a DLC dungeon as a dps and getting grouped with a bunch of level cp 150s most max levels will just leave having tried to do it a few times before and finding it an exercise in futility. Join a guild and befriend people in a guild. You will find your experience better. Just as you wouldn't expect people to be nice to you on the street but generally nice to you at your local bar that you are a regular at. Note just as in real life some bars are not worth going into sonif you find a bad guild just leave it.

Sounds like I need to play SWTOR, I like toxicity. Here I can't say most the stuff I want because zeni spanks me when I get out of control.

I had a friend that wanted me to play Battlefront but the game didn't look fun.

Gone with the younger generations is the common decency that used to be the norm, with no accountability for ones actions or words people strive to become the lowest common denominator and take pride in that. More often than not people conduct them selves in a way they would never consider in person or in public... I blame the parents for not raising children better.

Just because words do not upset someone doesn’t mean they are in denial. Some people just have thicker skin. A lot of people seem to forget that.

Ahh, yes, @BuildMan.. the thick-skin thing. I have spent decades in the company of tough-hardened men as military, police, fire fighters and the likes, in which professions are bolstered by superiors that we need to have thick-skin, suck it up and drive on mentally. You know what, we are all just fresh and blood human beings with all different kinds of emotions. Whether you try to perceive to yourself or others how tough as nail or steel you are, at the end of the day, everybody needs an outlet in one way or another. Hopefully, it's a passive outlet. I feel that folks claiming to have thick skin are similar to the cliché of sweeping things under the rug (or carpet.) As the phrase goes, it is done so when the dirt, hair balls, whatnot are swept under the rug, it is out of sight and everything above looks clean and peachy. However, the dirt and whatnot are still there under the rug. Similarly, in-game, many times over you have to put peeps on block and ignore, but it is just like sweeping things under the rug. The problem is gone for you solely, but the problem dude/dudettes are still on there plaguing others who have yet to block (or report) them. Ha ha

Words are the most trivial things. It can be dull or the sharpened sword. Doesn't matter how tough someone perceive they are, everyone need an outlet; whether, it is simply talking it out with a good friend or a significant other about it, or writing it out over a blog or forum as this. You need to vent. As in this forum, folks come on to vent; however, some seem to be more diplomatic and constructive than others, but, nonetheless, it is a way to relieve whatever tension or whatever may ails you. As for me, ESO has been my outlet. I take out my frustrations on them adds/mobs and bosses. Well, at times, I do come on to vent on this forum, but I try to be diplomatic and constructive; despite some trolls and not-so diplomatic nor constructive comments/feedbacks.

As for the thick-skin thing, unfortunately, many of the men I knew who have sucked it up for quite a long time. Well, they just seemed to have kept things bottled up inside of them for so long, and it was just a ticking bomb which, unfortunately, exploded. Condolences to them and the victims on the aftermath.. sigh.. Peeps, it's ok. We are just human, and we all need to vent and not keep things inside all the time. It can be very unhealthy and self-harmful. However, please do vent in ways, passively, that it doesn't disrespect, berate or throw more sharpened swords (words) directed toward others.

    @GreenhaloX
But the thing about it is when do we draw a line between being truely offended and being in the wrong. And just getting pissed off cause someone said something that upset you.

Eso offers plenty of ways to silence people that you do not like. Such as blocking/ignoring them. So why do we have to enforce everyone to act a specific way when there are options already in place to circumvent the situation

I’m not trying to say that people can’t be vile, quite the opposite. But this is generally how things are. So instead of trying to put a false cap on it why not just let people who wish to participate do so. And other can just censor their own game as they choose. We even have the profanity filter for this purpose.

I will almost never kick anybody from a group unless they are just be an *** and refusing to learn something.

The other night in vBanished Cells 1 there was a CP 179 that wasn't using the must effecient of skills. The tank and other dps left and ran off on the 3rd boss. Saying they weren't going to carry us. Well you obviously aren't carrying your healer really. The demanded we leave cause it was "their dungeon". I just told them I had all night knowing a vote would never pass to kick me. Myself and the other DD just sat there till they left. Eventually they left and replacements came in and we finished the dungeon.

Rookie’s mistake. As a healer, you don’t need a carry. All you need to do was to vote yes on kicking low dps. Healer almost never get kicked because how easy it is to get by. Get a better dps will always save u lots of time.

Have you not met a Jerk in RL?

Yes, speaking freely means people can be jerks too. You just need to learn to deal with people like that.

    Here is an example:

Yesterday I was in pvp and someone messaged me comments like "Why did you die?", "Oo-h you died again?", and "Why are you dying so much?".

In real life I might have just walked away, but last night my message was very clear, "You are annoying, will you please leave me alone?". I'm sure he thought I was a jerk, and I definitely would not say that to him in RL. I felt good saying it too and didn't have to hide my real feelings.

Not going to peruse 5 pages of replies, but there's a bit of context missing in the OP.

There's generally always more to the story, or at least there is presence of a story.

EDIT: After perusing 5 pages of replies, :( I was at least able to extract that the OP is referring to higher CP's talking about lower CP's (I read it at first as the lower's talking trash.

Sadly, other than the anecdotes provided by the replies, there's still no context...

FWIW, I've had it work the other way around, too. Try offering advice to someone with higher CP than you, about even the most basic/obvious thing, and you'll usually get "Lol, get to XXX CP and we'll talk"

This is usually the point where it's pointed out that it's a 2nd account, with the first account having more CP and more time in game than possibly the rest of the group combined. This is also the part where it's easier to simply depart.

Advice on how to help your group (group chat) or an individual (whisper) clear content is either going to be taken positively or it's going to be brushed off and ignored. If it's the second, don't waste your time.

Experience can back it up with reasoning and results. Anyone wishing to disregard that for superficial reasons isn't worth the time.

This can apply from any experience level to any experience level.

(I have thousands of hours in the game, and I'm still amazed at the little tricks and methods I occasionally witness in things like 4 man. You can learn something from every single person/group, if you allow it.)

Exactly because of thinking like this ...bullying on the internet, and on social media in general, exists, you know. The problem is wider.
Let's think of a teenager who escaping reality plays a game and is, well to put it nicely, a total nuisance to everyone just because s/he can. The same teenager then usually feels entitled to harass a girl or a boy on some social media site. And who knows, maybe she or he even knows their victim and posts embarrassing content about this person? What then?
The internet is full of such stories and pleads for a little bit of empathy.
Just because you're on the NET or playing A GAME, you should not forget that there's a real person behind the character's name, you know.

Also, those people who want to escape reality and think it's an okay to behave like entitled [snip] should probably stay away from mmos and stick to single player games. MMO is for everyone, and if you can't coexist, and be simply civil (just that, really, it's not too much) and cooperate in an mmo..there's something fundamentally wrong with you and you should stay away from mmo... BECAUSE mmo is not just for your OWN AMUESEMENT, you share the environment with other players - HUMAN BEINGS. o_0

It's not about forcing anyone to be nice for Odin's sake! o_0 it's about common sense, common decency, realising that you're not playing a single player game and your actions may, and actually do, impact other player's quality time in game as it was pointed out numerous times on this forum.

And, no, I can't "stop equating reality with online persona". Because there shouldn't be any difference..unless you suffer from schizophrenia? I am here who I am in real life. I treat people here or in game, or in any place within this digital realm, as I'd treat anyone in so called real life.
But you're right..we live in a schizophrenic society now plagued by "the reality" of the net/social media and notion that you can get away with everything here.. because nothing here is for real and you can turn it off whenever you like.
So, here, we differ. And we always will.

Having said that... I must say that my skin is thick and I am old enough to not pay attention to toxic people. I am just discussing this... shall we call it... "phenomenon" , that's all.

bingo offence is not given, it is taken.

people who play mmo come from all walks of life. You don't know what the person goes through day to day and reacts different to it.

    Most bullies are bullied themselves.

when people cast judgement on supposed bullies, it makes them the bully as well.

i met a guy in ff11 who played a female elf called an elvaan. Most everyone assumed it was a girl for 8+ years, he never corrected people, didn't care to he kept his irl life separate from his online life.

it is better to be the bigger person, and just report and move on, then being a bully yourself and start judging and insulting others.

I've met some pretty vile ppl online, even was cyber stalked for 2 years with 0 help from police. I've also met some of the kindest people like my boyfriend, and am part of a good youtube community who accepted me for who i am.

I have autism, which a lot of ppl see it as the new "***". I've been bullied for it as well irl with my family and online due to my poor ability to communicate. But with support of good people my communication skills have gotten better.

I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

I play my own way, and I like to figure out stuff myself. Great example are these DLC dungeons. I were running trough normal mode DLC dungeon with a buddy for the first time after taking a break for ESO. This dungeon had been out for a while, so people already completed vet. Then at some point this random guy in party started to telling us where to go, what to do, and gave us spoilers of what where gona happen.

This was so annoying, as I did not ask, or need his advice. There wasnt a wipe or anything, everything went smooth, but he just felt the need to tell us. Then he started to post achviments from vet no death runs, and this really triggers me. Mind your own business, and stop trying to show off. You don't know why your allies play like they do, so stop trying to change that. :unamused:

i woulda kicked him and moved on. When I try to help, I OFFER said help. When I'm new i ask for help.

i can see his side, they wanted a smooth run and make sure people was on the same page.

when in group content everyone needs to be on the same page. you also need to speak up and say "hi im new, i don't want spoilers"

can't blame people if you don't say anything or communicate.

if people followed one simple rule....JUST ONE! Treat others as you want to be treated.

So when someone is being a d**chenozzle, you can be one back?

How did you even come to that conclusion?
In what universe people want to be treated poorly by others?

There are literally rude people everywhere on Earth. In church, volunteering to feed the homeless, everywhere. I’m a Shriner, and some of those old coots I’d like to positively choke out as they are flat out rude, especially to younger fellas. For much the same reason as you run into it online..they know you can’t break their nose for them. The safety of being anonymous and across the country liberates people’s inner a55hat the same as being an old man who knows a man in his prime can’t step to him. So they run their mouth and dump their vitriol.

I try to focus on the sad wretch bit, sigh, and move on.
