OP: Not sure, googling it throws up a few different results. Wouldn't be fair to name the wrong person as understandably they'd have a lot of anger thrown their way. It would be interesting to know the current MD's history so we can have an idea of what to expect - I.e if a background in like Candy crush then now is probably time to cancel subs before *** gets ridiculous.

Yeah because crazy is one thing... but those are a whole 'nother level. I'm just grateful I've never seen one I wanted or that didn't pretty much literally hurt my eyes just to look at it.

LOL Nah I'm just some gamer geek who finds using psychology to manipulate customers distasteful and unethical. I'd be a bad fit. But their claim is that the last one has been gone for 2 years so now I'm really curious.

Let's be fair, marketing is a difficult job. You have to try an persuade all the monkeys to do what you want, which is difficult enough, but then you have to try and balance your moral code with doing your job well, all while getting monkey poop flung at you. Now I'm not saying they're doing the best job, but to their credit, they could be doing MUCH worse.

EDIT: Also, marketing people =/= player investment/monetization people. Marketing often doesn't even deserve all the blame for stuff they're a part of.

You just defined marketing. This is their exact role. Its neither inherently disgusting nor unethical.

When a museum gets a new collection to show, the role of marketing is to find the best way to sell it, understand the psychology of their customers and manipulate them to come and see it.

When a company gets a new product, the role of marketing is to find the best way to sell it, understand the psychology of their customers and manipulate them to buy it.

Don't blame marketing when they're good at their job, they don't make the decision to design or sell a dodgy product and they don't have the power to say no we're not going to sell that.

I imagine someone in marketing at a game company joined with a fair bit of excitement, marketing interesting things to a growing and changing demographic with the ability to be innovative and an existing fan base of the primary product.
