Australian and Kiwi players

I personally am playing from New Zealand, I've really noticed the lag when it comes to ping. Do any other Australian or Kiwi players find ping to be much of an issue or at least limiting of what classes you play and what play style? I'm averaging 260-300 ping.

South African here, minimum 200, usually about 260.

    20Mb down fiber line.
Dragonborn, huh? Was it your ma or your pa that was the dragon?

I am in NZ too and get about 300 ping most days.

This is the single worse trait about ESO. Literarly leaving me having to explain to friends why I still play the game and leaving tonnes of friends from wanting to ever touch it.

It's like playing in a competitive soccer league where there is only one top level division and you have a disability where your brain has a delay of half a second against players who have no such disability. Most techniques are out of the picture and you just chug along best that you can hoping that no one expects highly of you. In no respect other then pure love of the game would you continue, and others won't understand this.

350ms ping from Sydney Australia, cable or fibre doesn't make a difference.

I've tried using WTFast, I'm using fibre as well, on a good day I may average 240ms. I'm playing from the Manawatu, New Zealand. Quite a rural city, I've played the game whilst living up in Auckland and got about 210-230ms with fibre but it's still extremely frustrating and restricting. :/

Kiwi here, 250ish ping. I've done pretty much everything.

I know a guy who is Western Aussie with 400 and he has done everything.

    Melbourne, Australia.
    ISP: Telstra
    Latency Range: 220-270
    DL Speed: 55 Mbps
    UL Speed: 5 Mbps
Telstra recently increased some speeds, to be honest it hasn't made any difference to my gaming experience when it comes to ESO. Numbers wise it feels like it has gotten worse ! I would say my previous range was between 220 to 250ish.

I also normally play after work, so anytime between 5pm to midnight, sometimes a bit later 1-2am, when possible.

Don't think NBN is going to make any difference to this.

290-370 from Melbourne. iinet. I haven't really investigated it but it's worse than when I was playing WoT on the NA server, that was more typically 280-300.

I am based in London UK but play on the NA PS4 server (certainly not the only one). In spite of the geographic distance from the server I don't experience lag that would prevent me doing anything. That said central London will have big transatlantic data pipes.

ZOS may be stuck between a rock and a hard place on this. If they put a server in Oceania then the pings may drop but the server might not have enough players to properly support the content: PvP, Dungeons, Trials.

Someone could write an open letter to demand that they change physics to improve the speed of light.

Australia has less population than the UK but Japan is twice as populous and India and China are the most populous countries of all. I don't know if ESO is officially available there.

I have family in Western Australia and they complain internet latency is a problem in general.

I live in Melbourne, Australia and I play on the NA server - my ping is around 300 in PVE.

I can clear vMA without too much issue apart from occasional WTH deaths - I find that mobs can jump around and AOE's can be instadeath sometimes- which I attribute to lag. I do vet Trials with an OS progression guild that runs for leader boards - again not too much problem.

I PVP regularly and find that lag effects me here . My ping is 300+ or more in Cyro and that, imo, is where you can start to get a serious impact on gameplay

Bar swap lag, weapons lag, skill lag - you name it - and that can create a lot of frustration sometimes. I still have a lot of fun in Cyro but I would enjoy it a lot more if not for the lag.

from an old article (Windows 10 upgrade)
After searching the web, I found that users of Windows 7 and 8.1 have experienced similar problems in the past and in most cases this appears to be a memory management leak problem related to the 'ndu' (Windows Network Data Usage Monitor). Amending the registry solved the problem by changing a setting (Start value) to 4 which disabled some part of the ndu.

It's unfortunate for the Australasian players, and they have my sympathy. In the absence of a local server (which I can understand ZOS not providing) I don't imagine there's a lot they can do to improve things other than to make sure that they are using a wired internet connection rather than a wireless one, and that they're running a clean machine with nothing else apart from a non-bloatware anti-virus program running in the background while playing (and with no other competing devices sharing the connection). If it were me I'd also be pretty active on my ISP's forums making sure that they're optimising things at their end and through the network, while also checking out other ISPs if that's an option.

Dude... sub 400 you can do everything. I get between 260 and 450 range normally. Do vet trial, pvp, farm vma. Whatever. Dont think that 300 - 380 should stop you playing any content. Pvp im ALWAYS over 350. And i do fine.

Good day, mates! Sorry to hear about the ping woes over there. No difference here in the US with PvP. Banging heads the same in any given evening or during 10 or more toons skirmishes or engagements. Not sure about the ping thing, but supposedly they said there are good things to come for PvP performance with Summerset. Not sure what it is, but.. we'll see.. :* Perhaps, it can improve performance over there as well.

To give you guys more perspective, I play from Hong Kong. I find the EU server better. between 200-400 which allows me to do almost anything. I live in a small town on the coast with notoriously slow internet compared to the optic coverage in the city , I resort to my unlimited 4G phone hotspot now and again, but I have a more than decent PC and have no trouble most of the time despite upload and download speeds I last saw in 2002.

    Sydney, Aussie-stan...

235-240 is the best I can get.

PvP 290-350, but it spikes in big keep battles.
It only seems to matter when up against good players.. against average players and potatoes I'm fine.

For PvE I can run anything, I haven't felt like it has held me back...

Your net connection doesn't really matter. My ADSL2 or a fibre connection due to our location. If you think of it like a highway... your highway might have 10 extra lanes (so more data/s), but it is still speed limited... so our pings suck regardless...
