tl;dr
someone quitted because of bad changes and asking for fix them to get reson to play again in this game
ZOS could fix the issue pretty simply.
The issue: Not everyone grinds for BIS gear, some are more inclined to other aspects of the game.
The fix: End boss drops a select-able item from a list, categories include rare mats/rare gear/rare recipes/rare furniture...
Simply choose the category and receive the random drop that is assigned to that boss.

It's like the transmute crystals system. Sure, it can be a slog to farm crystals, but at least you are guaranteed to eventually be able to transmute a piece. With pattern grinding you can put 20 hours in and get nothing. It would make grinding a little less taxing if individual rare patterns were worth 100 x tokens and you got an x token for every quest you completed or something like that... Not instant gratification but not IMPOSSIBLE either.
Also... the anniversary event has been awesome, but I was hoping it would drop Morrowind patterns and it isn't. I have been getting a minimum of 66 boxes a day, and have gotten a ton of cool stuff, yet have only gotten two BLUE Morrowind patterns... no purples in sight.

No. I said the things that basically make it like The Sims (though far more expensive) are the only things that still make it interesting as the gameplay has become so bad. That's.... not a good thing, and not at all what I wanted out of an MMO.

The only "bad" aspects of ESO gameplay is dungeons and PVP.. the rest of the game is amazing.
MornaBaine wrote: »I don't really play your game anymore, which you should know for starters. Why? Because you have 2 settings. 1. "Faceroll Easy Mode" for all questing and 2. "Gouge Out My Own Eyes With A Grapefruit Spoon Too Hard" for all end game, trials, and many hard mode dungeons which are the only things that yield the items and dyes I really want. Not to mention the mind numbingly boring repetition of it all to get gear. I miss Doshia being scary. I miss the vampire and werewolf quests being challenging. And let's face it, you never have given us anything worth having from questing so there's absolutely no reason to do it past level cap. You've basically wrecked the game for most casual players.
So what DO I give you my subscription money for? Roleplay in the Elder Scrolls setting. The pretty graphics. Player Housing. Yep, that's pretty much it... I still enjoy your far more expensive version of The Sims that I can play with friends. That's all you've got left going for you now as far as I'm concerned. And you keep ruining even that with gamble box exclusive items, limited time items, shoddy craftsmanship on costumes far too often, limited dye options, and prices for pixels that defy description in their lunacy.
So, let's talk about Morrowind. When I saw the furniture I was incredibly excited. It was so much nicer than anything else you had in the game. I was fully prepared to go nuts and spend the endless hours required harvesting mats to make it. BUT you made getting the plans so incredibly RARE AND DIFFICULT TO ACQUIRE that I was forced to give up. I don't even bother venturing into Vvardenfel anymore even though it's a really cool zone. I can't get what I want there so why bother? You basically refused to let me get the only thing I was excited for from Morrowind. I'm still salty about it. And it's the reason I have bought NONE of the houses from Morrowind even though I initially wanted ALL of them with the exception of your gross "Tumor Tower."
Now, I am checking out Summerset on PTS. Holy moly but you've finally knocked it out of the park on the player housing. The houses AND the furnishings are absolutely phenomenal. Kudos! Give your dev team on that a raise! And yet, I am absolutely terrified that you're just going to pull another Morrowind on me here and I will NEVER be able to recreate the things I am doing in PTS. Because not only will your prices for the furnishings on the crown store be completely unreasonable and literally insane... but you're going to make acquiring the plans to MAKE those furnishings incredibly rare AGAIN, aren't you? Seriously, if you're just going to make everything as impossible to achieve as you have with Morrowind why should I even bother? I am fully prepared to lay out the stupid amount of cash I already know you're going to ask for both houses.... AND with the new furnishings I even WANT to buy one of the old Notable homes as well. But what's the point when you're just going to ruin any enjoyment I might have in those places with your insanely BAD RNG????
Please, please, PLEASE do NOT ruin Summerset for me the same way you ruined Morrowind. I'm literally begging you here.
I agree that RNG and grinding is reaching epic and unwarranted proportions.
I think in the patch notes for summerset they say that morrowind will now drop more morrowind specific furniture recipes rather than other races' recipes
Edit: Here we go . In 4.0.2 pts patch notes we can find this
"FurnishingsUpdated the furnishing plan drop chances within Vvardenfell, Clockwork City, and Summerset. When you loot a furnishing plan in these areas, you are now much more likely to see furnishing plans directly associated with that area."
Now we just depend on "likely"....

MornaBaine wrote: »Well ZOS you did it. You've ruined Summerset just like you ruined Morrowind for those of us who actually give you vast sums of money for player housing. You just did it by a slightly different road this time around. Instead of making the plans for the Alinor furnishing nearly non-existant like you did the ones in Morrowind (though I hear you are planning to nerf the drop rates so "good job" there!) you've introduced a new style material for them that can only be obtained by mindlessly running the same daily over and over until your brain melts from sheer boredom. And to add insult to injury, while you only get ONE style material from this quest of COURSE each piece of furniture demands multiple of them. So crafting Alinor furniture is actually WORSE than crafting Morrowind furniture. This was incredibly sneaky and underhanded.
I will finish the project I started thinking that you were going to act in good faith this time and that you had actually listened to your player base and were going to do something ethical. But since that's not the case I will know in future not to buy anything else because it's no more than yet another bait and switch to get me endlessly into the cash shop ON TOP of your already exorbitant house pricing.
I never thought I'd see the day I'd give up my sub on my main account. But that day is coming.
MornaBaine wrote: »So the ideal world is where there is no furnishing patterns that are rare, because to me that's how you're coming off as wanting. If there is no rarity there is no value, sure you may want everything, but if everything is the same rarity it take the excitement out of pulling a rate pattern/motif. I don't know you just seem to be upset over normal game play features, some things should be more rare than others
Well, for starters, why SHOULD a cosmetic item like furnishing patterns BE rare in the first place? The purple and gold items should simply be more expensive to MAKE than the blue and green ones. And I really don't care that the gold items require writs. That's part of the difficulty of making them. I'm fine with being forced to "work" for items that convey in-game advantages. Like gear. But a sofa? Not so much. Furnishing patterns, regardless of whether or not they are green, blue or purple, should be no more rare than the base game motifs are. Nor should the items required to make them be subject to a huge RNG artificial scarcity. They should simply require MORE mats, as they go up in "quality," to make. Being required to spend the time harvesting to make what I want isn't an issue. Being denied the ability to make it AT ALL is what I'm on about here. Furnishing a home is not a matter of showing off how lucky I am with RNG. Because let's face it, that's all it is. It's not like getting a Trial skin which proclaims you were actually good at something and beat a difficult boss. It's literally nothing more than saying, "Hey I got lucky with RNG!" Who cares? And it disrupts and destroys the ability to decorate in a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing way... which is literally what player housing SHOULD be about.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head here, unintentionally. People enjoy chasing rare things. That means they need to have sight of their quarry, and a reasonable path to it. If it's out of reach, or hidden, then the chase is no fun at all.
