Character doesn't display armour?

Anyone else having an issue where they cannot see the armour their character is wearing? like he looks the exact same weather hes naked or armed to the teeth? For awhile I thought all the armour just looked the same, but then I realized in the character select screen I can see what I am supposed to look like, but soon as I go in game I look naked again like when you first make the character and your level 1.

Its really depressing that for the last 20 levels my look has not changed a single bit, I'm just staring at the same bland grey suit. Which is odd because I can see the armour of people around me and some of it looks pretty cool. Image of what my character looks like in-game, server is down so I can't nab a picture of what he looks like in character selection. (before someone misunderstands and jumps on me for "duh, of course you don't get the veteran armour", I am talking about character selection screen, not character creation screen)

You get different armor appearances by crafting in different 'styles' so I recommend buying a motif and making a set that you like. Use a guide to find a set that you find visually appealing

I think you missed the point, armour does not load visually on my character. I have played with all the settings to no avail. In the character selection screen I can see what I am supposed to look like, but when I jump in-game I am just in the bland grey suit your in when your lv.1 and naked.

Okay. I was just wearing a beige robe when I started so it looked like to me from your picture that you WERE wearing armor. Seems like a weird issue. Do you know if other people can see you wearing armor?

I just noticed it today when I was afk for awhile on character selection screen and I was like wait a minute... that's not what I look like... I've been wearing the same gear for 20 levels...

Jumped back in game, took all my armour off and the character shuffles like you changed gear but visually he looks the same. As for if I appear differently to others I don't know, didn't think to ask a friend "what do I look like" when we were playing.

Well if someone else says you look like you have a red metal dragon armor (Example), and on your screen it's a grey armor then you know that it's not server related and is something to do with your client and/or GPU.

I have the same issue. Visual gear won´t change my appearance, even if I take everything off. Just the weapons change accordingly. Helmet and shoulders aren´t displayed at all.
Back in character selection everything looks like it´s supposed to be.
Just ingame character looks the same since lvl 3, showing the gear I put on to change out the starting rags.

Check your inventory, more specifically the "Costume" slot next to the jewelry.

I FIGURED IT OUT!
When you open your inventory, all the way on the left it shows your character and all of his/her gear. Underneath *ACCESSORIES* I noticed that I was still wearing my FROST BANDIT DISGUISE, right click the disguise and un-equip.

You just managed to necro-post in a topic from over a year, suggesting to use the collection system which wasn't even implemented back then

But you are right, this issue could now be caused by an active costume.

So I'm having the same issue. The Armour I have equipped is not showing on my character, it shows on the character select screen, but once I get in game it's not there. I've checked the connections area. I can dawn purchased costumes and I can put on disguises , but once I take it off it goes back to not showing my equipped Armour. Also, the facial features aren't right. The dude looks completely different, with a beard and everything. (I didn't have a beard)
I'm on the ps4. Can't figure out what to do.
If you guys have heard anything, please let me know.

Hey there @stickler,

Certain quests will polymorph your character into a completely different person for various purposes. Can you let us know which quests you have active in your journal?

@ryands60 just to confirm because the posts from you aren't making it clear - are you saying your character is 100% not in a costume/disguise? It's beside your neck and ring slots.
