Content Write Error - Cannot download PTS

I got 92% then got the error. Kept hitting pause, which increased amount remaining till it kicked in the patches, then game crashed on startup, never got past the black startup page.

Quick update: We're currently testing a fix for this issue. If all goes well, we'll look at rolling it out to everyone tomorrow.

The CTD is when it installs the patch without the actual game being installed.

Kind of stupid how the launcher allows for that to happen.

Tried a couple times. Deleted everything, tried to reinstall. Even verified and repaired. Still get to about 20-23% and get the Content Write Error. Giving up for tonight.

I have tried all methods to get the pts to download but it will not. It goes to about 14% I get a content write failed and then it goes back to 0%, wash rinse repeat. I got an invitation for Summerset Isles beta but can't join it because of the inability to download pts. Zero issues with the main server. Please help!

I've hit the content write error at 3.4GB left twice now. I can't do anything other than restart the download entirely. Here's to 3 nearly complete downloads in an hour... maybe I should call it quits instead of wasting all of these SSD writes for something that's obviously broken.

The patch is broken up into a multi part zip file. They're downloaded in order.

I'm able to get full parts of everything up to Z30. The download went down to 2.6ish GB left, and then reverted back to 4.4GB.

I'm assuming that Z30 is failing a checksum validation.

I'm encountering the same thing here. At some point below 4 GB left, errors occur.

I was downloading just fine at about 77 MB/sec and left it to finish; came back and it was at 1% with a download speed of 9 MB/sec. But then looking at my ISP download log I see I had apparently already downloaded the entire thing - twice.

Might just wait for the fix, I think. I have no download limit, but my poor SSD doesn't need the extra workout!

Just an update, following a prompt from earlier in the thread I deleted PTS folder, ran launcher as admin, same error at 20%, 29152.47 mb. Content write failed.

I tried letting it download over night...and the next morning it had restarted again....I don't get it..literally

Indeed. An error. Inevitably for the fourth time ~ Content write failed.

I hope it shall be fixed today. I was planning to record and provide Performance/Game-play feedback. It matters not. Take your time, One-Two days more or less.

I also got the 'Content write failed' error twice around 17% and 20%. I'll keep my fingers crossed that Zenimax have found the error and can offer a hotfix today, as mentioned earlier in this thread.

As this is my first invite to a beta, I'm very eager to start testing and provide feedback!

After two days of trying to download the PTS and running repair i somehow managed to install it. Had the same "content write failed" error.
But now it crashes after launch

Good news everyone - the fix for this issue passed QA, and we'll be rolling it out to everyone this morning. We'll let you know as soon as it's finished so you can try downloading again.
