Content Write Error - Cannot download PTS

After the first attempt which was an actual download

today it starts out repairing.....for a while (over 30 mins) and then starts to download from 0% to 24% and will restart (actual download)

Its done that twice and I just closed the launcher because it just cycles

My issue with the pts is that this is now the 3rd time i am redownloading it. I did a complete download of pts and it crashed on start so i repaird the pts but after repairing it the laucnher deleted all of my pts files and now i have to redownload it again.
I also accidentally closed the launcher after that i re opened it and had to repair the game again but again it started the download from 0% and deleted about 20gb of files

I try to download with URL, and the URL for depot_-1to98.z31 give me an error page.

I've consistently had the DL stall at 21% with an HTTP request fail error and then it restarts the DL again.

I've given up on this. The damn thing just keeps getting stuck and downloading from zero. I think I've downloaded like 200GB today and for nothing.

Restarted the DL after rebooting my machine. Started verifying and redownloading, got to 24% and now "Content write error". @ZOS_GinaBruno We really need some insight please.

Got right to the end of downloading the initial 59GB or so chunk then content write failed...

@ZOS_GinaBruno answer me this question, why is it 4 year later the launcher is still a pile of (to put it mildly)... Guar Dung???

Could we in future see something a little more reliable considering the the game folder gets bigger with each major update?

I've been having this problem as well. Of course, I didn't discover this until I got home from work. I did repair, to start the process all over. Then, every time I got the "content failed to write" error, I shut the patcher down, restarted, and continued where I left off.

Eventually, through repeated attempts, the download sizes grew less and less, until it finally went to 100% and complete.

And then I clicked Play. It instantly crashes to desktop, every time I try to load the client (either from the launcher or from the file folder).

I did a repair, it scanned the whole thing.....and now it says downloading 60GB remaining. So, yeah, *thanks* Zenimax. I'm going to get some breakfast and see where it is when I get back, but I bet it's going to download another 60GB of data, just to fail yet again.

Edit: okay, let's see where I'm at after breakfast...The repaired redownload went to 92% when I got the content failed to write error. When I restarted the patcher, it popped up with play, and I couldn't get it to download any more. And, of course, the game client immediately crashes to desktop, every time.

I did the repair option, and after it varified the files....it started another 60GB download.

That's it, I'm done.

Also been having this issue. Found some threads from last year with the same issue. I've deleted the 4 partial files from the PTS file on my C drive. Now trying a repair before attempting a download. This is my 1st time downloading the PTS also, so I'm not impressed so far hahaha

After several fails with "cannot write" error I now have "HTTP request fail error"

@ZOS_GinaBruno any info as to why this is happening?


& I guess I'm not getting on the PTS this week

I got this error this morning, closed the client, repaired it (as Gina said), it started to verify the client.... and redownloaded it AGAIN. Now it's trying to download it for the third time. @ZOS_GinaBruno please help!

I've also been having trouble getting mine to download. I repaired last night after stalling at 23% and left the thing to run overnight, which it seemed like it was going to do just fine - I went to bed and it was at 46% - but when I woke up to check this morning, I found it had backtracked down to 12% and started losing percentages as I tried pausing and resuming the update. I restarted my computer and managed to get it installed (it seemed that it had actually downloaded a significant chunk already), but then it crashed once I tried to load it. I submitted the error report that popped up and then tried repairing it again, and I left it to install while I'm at work today. I'm hoping that it will be done when I get home, but I am...not optimistic in the slightest.

I tried downloading yesterday....it said there wasn't enough space even though there was MORE than enough. Made MORE space, tried again, left it overnight and it was at less than it was when I went to bed. I cancelled that, which apparently deleted the whole thing from my system...and now it's trying to patch content that is either not there (according to how much free space I have on my HD), or it's patching something that is not registering as taking up space.

I had the same issue at first, ok like the first 3-4 attempts but i got it to work by closing the game and the launcher and reopening them lol it seemed too easy but it worked

Not much point in retrying this after a day and 6 attempts, now

So for me what I did is cancel repair try fail, cancel repair - then it looked like 32 was the actual problem so I deleted the zip and the partial, did another repair. Looks like it is trying 32 again. Seems the progress we see is for each individual zip because most everything is already on disk but right now it says 6% (I assume of z32).

Pretty funky stuff - this is my first time with the PTS so I may sound like a loon to vets.

I've participated in almost every PTS since Homestead. First time I'm seeing this. It seems the last time they had this issue was 2016 and ZOS needed to fix it.

@ZOS_GinaBruno this isn't an isolated issue. A ton of people can't download the file.

@ZOS_GinaBruno this is an issue for people downloading the PTS for the first time, not people patching the PTS. Talk to your team and have someone test it with your production launcher. It no worky.

Can't test anything right now outside of the launcher erroring at downloads.

I uninstall the PTS after every cycle (using the launcher). They can't expect me to keep a useless 60 GB file on my harddrive at all times.
