Bloodthirsty trait for jewelry is tied to PvP...

... can you already see the tears coming? I can.

BLOODTHIRSTY

Trait effect: Increases Damage against low-health foes

Researchable Item: Necklaces and rings with the Bloodthirsty Trait have a chance to be awarded when you complete the new Cyrodiil daily board quests (note, not the repeatable quests).

Trait Material: Slaughterstone. Acquired in refined form from the War Researcher vendor in Cyrodiil for Alliance Points.

In addition, as with weapons and armor, you can deconstruct jewelry with one of the new Traits to gain the material needed to craft a ring or necklace in that trait. When you deconstruct jewelry, you will only ever obtain a Pulverized form of its Trait material, which you must refine into a usable form.

Glad it's a PvP based trait. It fights the theme.

No tears for my crafter. I've never done the quest in Craglorn that gives you a nirnhoned item. However two of my crafters have all 9 traits researched for every item. Guess how I managed that. I don't do pvp. My main crafter has the full motifs for all three factions, and I didn't buy them with AP or telvar. As long as pve crafters can get the trait to research in some manner/by some means, I sure won't be crying.

There's also a trait that can only be gotten from trials and not everyone does trials.

They'll be on the guild stores soon enough. And we'll have enough other traits to research in the mean time.

Well, it can be traded and I don't really see it as "must have" trait for me. I've lived without having access to it before (since jewelry crafting isn't a thing yet ;) ) and I certainly won't need it in the future.

I'll take the sensible approach - I'll craft less-than-max trait sets on my jewelry, and save any max-trait sets I need for armor. /shrug

(of course, if they end up cheap on traders, that's an option, too. Say, less than nirn-trait)

edit: ah, and I see other traits (and their trait materials) are tied to Undaunted chests, Trials, etc. So yeah, there'll be plenty of people saying "well, I don't do X! dammit!" And then buying the things at a high markup from guild vendors.

Also explains why they went with new trait materials - the old ones aren't limited-access.

This, note that the golden who is the traditional way of turning AP into gold will become less relevant.
On the other hand 80K for an gold jewelry piece will still be an good deal for an long time.

In trying to figure out what types of new quest could be added I realized that we do not have defensive quests. And with the change to defensive AP ticks, I wonder if defensive objective quests will be added to the game. Could provide a new dynamic and an interesting way to earn the new trait.

Imagine if it was "Defend Fort Warden for 2 scoring ticks." But you are EP. So now you have to get a group to take Fort Warden and hold it for a period of time against an enemy attack.

I don't see PvE'ers giving up damage 75% of the time for more damage 25% of the time anyway.
Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

No one will buy bloodthirsty so you won't make any gold off it anyway.

Bloodthirsty is one of the stronger traits on jewelry. Especially on fights with a hard execute phase, where you want to burn down the boss asap.
And also in pvp, imagine someone beaming on a 30% health target, and he drops to 25% thats prob gona be an instarip ^^

What's wrong with requiring a player to earn these in a pvp zone.
They are 100% optional, but even if not - who would really care???

You go to the zone, run around for awhile, kill other players, get killed by other players....and then at the end you get your stuff.

Why is this a big deal?

I think it's weird 'bloodthirsty' is considered pvp related. Execute phase in trials is more important than in anywhere else in the game, though I can certainly see the theme of pvpers being bloodthirsty and plenty of pvp builds love their execute phase I'm sure as much as any trials runner. I guess trials gets that 'synergy' trait b/c it's all about team work even though larger teams of people are constantly found in cyrodiil and usually stacked up tighter lol.

But mostly just busting balls here. In the end it doesn't matter and bloodthirsty will probably be one of the more desirable traits, so it gives pvpers a chance to make money out of their AP which is usually a good thing. I like things being spread out in the game, it's not a game of one type of play - if you choose to avoid a percentage of the game b/c you don't like trials or don't like pvp or don't like questing or crafting or pledges or whatever - that's your choice and you should be glad they created a system where at least you still have access to some of the rewards through buying them off other players.

Like someone else said plenty of people have learned the Nirnhoned trait without ever doing the quest that gives the items you need to research it. (I started researching Nirnhoned as soon as I ran out of other traits to research, at the time I didn't even know where it came from.)

It will be the same with this. People who do PvP or don't mind doing it will get the items directly and then sell them to people who don't do PvP. Possibly in return for jewellery only obtained from Trials, or even dungeons if they're strict PvPers.

This isn't Nirnhoned round 2, where the items were hidden behind an entire questline for one rng reward and the whole community needed to work to obtain and spread 34 different item variants.

There are only rings and necks, and clear sources to be farmed in varied game modes. Tradeguilds are going to have complete jewel crafting research available for purchase by the first weekend.
