Helmet Deleted With Hide Helmet Option

I have the hide helmet option turned on. Then I made a helmet and equipped it. I then checked my character to see what other armour I need to update, only to see that my helmet is now gone from my character as in not hidden but deleted.

This is a terrible bug that hide helmet option results in your helmet being deleted. So I had to turn this option off as I did not want my next helmet that I made to be deleted. So the option to hide helmet is not an option at all, it's horrible as it deletes your helmet.

I did , but i did not even pay att if the helmet was still there later heh.

Well , was just some crappy low lvl helmet anyway , my top char is still 7 heh.

have you tried making another crappy low level helmet and seeing if you can replicate the problem? I'd do it but I'm no where near a town. Or has anyone else been able to replicate?

Yes this happened to be 3 betas back and onward. I reported it every-time. Guess its not a priority until someone deletes a helmet worth a small fortune then they may address it.

Had the same thing, noticed it when I wanted to show how awful the basic Orsimer helmet looked. Reported the bug in-game as advised.

I don't know if it's even related to the hide helmet option. Zoned out of a dungeon last night and poof, my helmet (which I display) had gone. Had to craft a new one.

I don't use hide helmet and mine just disappeared off my head. At first I assumed that it just degraded or was broken and that's what happened. Made a brand new one and about 2 hours later that disappeared.

Myself and someone else my group had the disappearing helmet last night as well. Mine wasn't hidden, I just realised that it was gone off my head at some point. If it is related to armor degradation it would be good to know - I had been wearing mine for a while. My friend's was freshly crafted though and she was in the middle of town when it happened.

I've had hide helmet on since within the first 5 mins of playing and haven't had this happen once in the last few days. I agree with the others, the cause is most likely unrelated to this option being selected.

I wonder what causes it? Mine disappeared after I equipped it so assumed the hide helmet caused it. But probably not as others are just disappearing without that option.

Doubt it is armour degradation either as the helmet I had that disappeared was freshly crafted and vanished in town and had never been used in combat.

Update on this - the other member of my group thinks theirs went missing while crafting (the helmet is not visible when crafting). I do a lot of crafting so that might be where mine went too. So perhaps a bug with whatever code is hiding helmets (whether manual or automatic). Having said that a third member of my group reported his waist piece going missing, which as far as I know isn't automatically hidden at any point. I guess we just keep reporting it in game so the dev's have as much info as possible to resolve it.

To back this theory up I was doing a lot of Blacksmithing when my helmet's disappeared.

No hide helmet but it went like the others. If it's crafting related then I went through the entire save-Lyris quest without noticing. I noticed right after leaving the Harborage (pact). I was crafting at some point before so I may have just been aloof.

Looks like we found another down side to 1st person view til it's fixed.

I've lost at least 5+ helmets this way.

I always thought I had 'deconstructed' them by accident, but I now see that I was incorrect in that assumption.

I can back it up that it is NOT related to the Hide Helmet feature. I've used that feature many times, and there's been no problem with it. It is definitely a bug with Crafting. I've always lost my helmets after a bout of Blacksmithing.

I've lost lvl 20 helmets, and some of them were pretty nice looking.

Same thing here. Lost 2 helmets now and both seemed to have disappeared while blacksmithing. Not a huge deal but I know once I have a really rare helm and it disappears on me I'm not gonna be so happy.

It's probably the tradeskill bug I reported.

It's happened to me twice, and it wasn't related to hiding the helmet, but something with the deconstructing interface. Possibly related to trying it with too full an inventory, leaving to sell, then coming back.

I found out the reason why they keep disappearing, if you are at a blacksmithing station and are deconstruction you are given all items that are valid for deconstructing. Now if you don't select one with "e" but directly hit "r" then it will deconstruct your helm instead. I haven't tried it with medium/light armor at a blacksmithing station but it definitely "works" if you got a heavy armor item equipped on your headslot. It will however not deconstruct anything else.
It does not matter if you have your helm visible or not.

If you fail to improve a item then it takes your helmet also. Only happens to my characters that way. I just remove my headgear before crafting to be safe.
