Do the event rewards seem rather silly?

Can't help but mention this, as people are getting expensive motifs for doing what they largely already do - writs and a handful of other dailies. Some examples I have seen are the full Buoyant motifs, as well as the full worm cult books, going at well over a million per item. This kind of thing may have impacts on the economy (I can only complain so much, I have received benefits from the event too!) XD

Since you asked, no, they don’t seem rather silly. A nice change of pace to actually get something useful. Silly was the Jester event rewards.

Not silly at all. I like that every event we have has different things it gives out. For this one, we have a chance at getting awesome motif pages. I doubt I'll be lucky enough to find a book of any kind haha, but Ill be happy enough if I can scratch off some more pages I don't already know on my main crafter.

I believe that most players are not doing writs consistently. A very small portion of very active players are. It may seem like everyone is doing it, but those are just the always-here regulars, not the other millions of players. Events like these encourage the less-engaged players to try out new system, different quests, and otherwise see if there are some systems they might like to return more often for. If yes, cool, more active players! If not, that's fine too, not every game is enjoyable for every person!

And yeah these events do affect the player economy for a bit, but in the balance of More Fun For More People versus More Gold For Less Than 1% Of The Playerbase, I'm going to end up siding with the more fun way of doing things.

Farming for months or paying with crowns is silly. This is the best event of the year.

Since I have yet to see someone complain that they got lockpicks and/or a handful of Ta runes, I'd say the rewards are rather decent even if the droprate for the exclusive pages is crap.

I don't think it hurts zos at all to be generous once in a while. Sometimes it's better to build up good will and positivity rather than scrimping every penny (they are "losing money" on each BA book they give)

The only ridiculous thing is that I can resell the white quality ribbon off a tuft of hair for 40 gold but I can't even resell this fancy-pants, legendary quality decorative box to a stupidly high cat in Rawl'kha.

In this event everything is useful at least. Other than the crafting mats, the items vary from good to "Holy Moly". My jaw dropped when I saw a transmute crystal and a potent nirncrux in 1 box. Silly? No.

Nothing silly about the rewards in my view, but the prices being charged for them are certainly silly by the sounds of it, comparable to those prepared to pay them of course!

hasnt even hit primetime yet and motif prices have dropped on average 33%, thats just from half a day of this event. That would probably sound alarm bells for a games economy but im pretty sure zenimax doesnt really care

That happened last year and prices rebounded, however, keep in mind that motif prices were rather inflated thanks to the Outfit System. So it looks a lot worse because the prices were higher than before Dragon Bones.

Lets see, Motifs I can use or sell, Nirncrux (3 today) Transmute Crystals (about 20), crafting mats, new style mats

    Nope, not silly at all.

Is this really worth a complaint? ZOS does something nice, and somebody complains about. Oh, well, had to happen I suppose.

Motifs are but one small part of the game economy. Sure they will drop but they will bounce back in a month or two.
They were getting too pricy anyway due to the outfit system.

You would think, but I've seen so many complaints about getting free crap that it makes me wanna cry for the devs. People actually complaining about gifts. I agree with you, but there will always be someone to look the gifthorse in the mouth, then beat the horse to death.

I see two main thrusts to the complaints.

    1. The free stuff people really want is locked behind RNG so unless you do a bunch of dailies (aka writs) it'll be hard,to get what you want. Which wasn't IIRC a big deal last year, but the Worm Cult limited motif really brought this complaint out. Its worse for anyone with limited time to play.

    2. The economy just got flooded with supply of practically everything, so anyone who usually farms is watching prices drop like a rock because demand hasnt kept pace. Which I tend to think this is a shortsighted complaint since the market rebounded last year and the motif market was inflated anyway thanks to the Outfit System, but I see why some people complain.

So these two complaints are opposites, one complaining that there aren't enough rewards (especially for players with limited time to play) and the other complaining about the impact on the economy (more important to players who play the MMO economics game). Its not just "complaining about free stuff", its complaining about the ways that free stuff impacts different playstyles.

I don't agree with either complaint, myself, but I do understand them.

But it's just natural that people with more time will get more completed and hence get more stuff.
