Which is the class you Tank With?

I have tanking setups for 4/5 classes, but I must agree that DK and Warden are the only ones I can bring in trials, though Sorcerer and NB are entirely adequate even for the vast majority of DLC HM dungeons. For example I was able to do vFH HM a few days ago on a Magicka Sorcerer shield tank. I haven't found any reason to do a Templar tank though, since of all classes is has the least passives and skills that help with that role.

My only dedicated tank is a Templar, I have been quite happy with the class for tanking.

I will add that I usually run solo so quite often I will spec whatever I am using a bit to the tank side when I don't think straight dps is going to be the best way to run so at times I will go a little tanky with most classes.

What do you do as a templar tank other than taunt and survive? Are you able to cluster adds together in some way?

I main a DK tank, they just have so many useful utility skills for a tank, and with cinder storm possibly becoming a HoT or burst heal... I'm excited to see how that goes.

I have a few other tanks on the back-burner right now, but from my limited experience, I really like my Sorcerer Tank and my NB Tank. The Sorcerer has a surprising amount AoE & Single CC abilities that are useful for tanking (restraining prison/daedric mines/rune prison/bolt escape) as well as some nice healing abilities. With Silver Leash being modified to pull targets to you, I think Sorc Tanks will become more popular as well. NB tanks are just fun because it seems that I can contribute more to group DPS while still fulfilling my obligations as a tank, the only downside of them are the lack of class AoE CC skills. There's Aspect of Terror, but it also fears the targets which can push them out of the kill zone of the DPS AoE skills.

Templar's are also fun, they're just so dang good at self-sustain and can also support the group as well. The only class I don't have a tank in right now is Warden.

Dragonknight is the top tank. It was designed for It, and it feels like it.

I have tried tanking with every class. I had fun with all of them, but found with a sorcerer that it was more effective to summon a deadra to do the tanking while I stood a distance and hit enemies with magicka.

So, now I am in the process of making a summoning focused magicka sorcerer.

Potl for minor breach, fracture, ult gen (warhorn uptime increase), and minor sorcery,

Extended ritual to deliver you an on demand cleanse (not to mention synergy, which grants resources),

Shards to restore resources or pull groups of mobs with soft aggro,

Group wide ultimate restore with healing ritual and morphs, if your allies are at 59% health or lower (buffed, allegedly, come Summerset as an instant cast),

Defile at range for fights that benefit from it (bogden, drodda),

Major maim on enemy, which is getting buffed (allegedly) come Summerset.

Templar tanks bring a lot to the party. As for "clustering adds", spear shards to scoop, extended ritual and/or ice staff wall of elements to slow and root (aoe root btw).

Keep hearing rumors of silver leash being made a stamina chains... We'll see.

i have 5 characters, one of each class and they are all tanks with truly unique builds.

nord stamina templar tank is my main character since i began playing ESO a couple weeks before morrowind.
it is an odd race/class combo for a tank, and i never run “meta” gear.
(sentinel of rutabaga, warrior poet, merdida)
her build is 100% my own creation and she gets many compliments from teammates.

i dont play her as much because i fell in love with how fun my argonian magicka ice tank warden is after tweaking her build a couple days ago...
made her a vampire (still not sure if this is a good choice)
    gear is iceheart, willpower, and

Not to mention sun shield: it's a class shield for starters, but it's amazing in large pulls because it scales with the number of things attacking you. If you take the blazing morph and get a whole bunch of small fry attacking you, that rebound damage adds up reallllly quickly. It's especially great in vDSA.

Anything non DK is not a tank.
Tanking non DLC veteran dungeons means nothing. My non combat pet can do that.

Nominee for Hyperbole of the Year award. I got my HM achieves/ skins/ titles on my Warden for the latest DLC and I’ve cleared every piece of content in the game with him.

    -Passive Minor Maim
    -Incredible mobility and sustain
-Snare and/ or Ranged Snare/ Immobilize
    -Incredible Shield
-Free Stamina while blocking with Netch
-Only tank that synergizes well with Frost Staff (effectively a second block pool).
-Access to every buff in the game.
-Can respec into damage with something as simple as Necropotence with full points in Health. (42k Hp/ 35k Magika lol)

I’ve missed some, but Warden tanking (I find) is superior to DKs in every way and then some.

I tried dk, its a snooze fest to me.

I used warden for an ice tank, but what zos is doing to warden with summerset....there is no reason to continue, she is on stand by.

Atm I am focusing on a shadow tank. Very on the fence with what zos is doing with them in summerset, but will wait to see.

I am curious about templar and sorc tanking tho. I will prob buy two more slots eventually to try em out.

NB is my second choice these days, but the lack of a shield and now choosing between burst heal and stealth hurts them in PVP (and PVE somewhat).

I’m working on a stamblade with Bone Shield but it’s not quite as efficient as a magblade tank.
