Veteran Player Reimbursement: Morrowind

This is nonsense. Crying and whining about being a "vet player" and paying for something that is now free is really weak. Ive played since launch, i bought Morrowind, and i am happy new players will have mpre content available for less.

For me, and this is me, housing- not really my thing. 130 for a house is never a choice i made. 60 for a motif? Again, not my choice. The idea pf Australia etc being "screwed" out of contests. Isnt that their international law? Does that REALLY fall on ZOS?

You honestly sound like a spoiled kid with a younger sibling who got something new, and you're feeling entitled and angry because you aren't being given anything as well.

You are responsible for your purchases. Not ZOS.

You may wait with me :).
I'll just wait another year for another chapter and then they will give me Summerset for free :).

Well yeah, but then you'll have to pay for a new chapter that you could get for free later!

When will the vicious cycle ever end!?!?! :p

Harshly written, but with a very strong point. I understand completely the frustration of seeing things we paid large ammount of money for turned into free gifts, without even a word of compensation for the loyal veterans. But, hey, it´s my humble opinion.

Gw2, WoW, Swtor, every other mmo basically does this now

Morrowind isn't factored into the price. It's a free addition to the package. There is nothing to reimburse you for.

That's the point. They feel now that it is a free addition they should just get the full X amount they spent on Morrowind back.

They get a bundle deal sale & you get your knickers all in a twist?
If you played & enjoyed the chapter you got your money's worth... what happens with the new players shouldn't change that.

If I see a movie I own in the bargain bin, I am entitled to NO REIMBURSEMENT because last year I paid regular price.

Seems like this is the first MMO for many people. This is how MMO's work..when new expansions come out the previous one is absorbed into the base game.

And this is so that new players to the game aren't hit with having to buy base + each expansion to get to the current game.

If you don't like how MMO's work then go back to static games.

For many, it is, because of the audience it tried to attract.

Remember when you bought a game on disk and a sequel came out a year later and GameStop offered you next to nothing for it? Well that’s what it’s like except Morrowind is at least still worth having.

You said it yourself: You have thus far gotten 2000+ of hours of entertainment from the game so far. Thousands. That's what you paid for.

When you do the math it gets a little harder to understand the outrage.

    $80 spent.

At 2000 hours: $0.04 per hour

At 2200 hours: $0.036 per hour

At 2500 hours: $0.032 per hour

We can even say, what if only 1000 hours were truly using the Morrowind-based content. $0.08 per hour.

    That's some well-purchased entertainment.

Long story short, this is pretty normal, and it IS a good thing. One of the few reasons I never tried FF14 is that I didn’t want to have to buy everything at once, back before I really got into ESO.

I’m ok with Zos lowering that barrier to entry, even if it is just promotional. I got my fun out of it, and I got the extra digital swag.

I got tons of entertainment out of my copy of Morrowind, which is exactly what i bought it for.
    Money well spent ...

So why care if someone else gets it "for free" with some other purchase?

Seriously...I don't understand the thought process behind this.

This happens in every industry. When a product has been on the market for a while, it can go on sale or be packaged with a newer version as an incentive.

Basic economics guys, nothing to see here.

Absolutely, if was to go back to WoW, my account has every expansion except the latest one available.

The last one I actually bought was Cata.

So if I did start playing again I guess everyone who bought Pandaria, WoD ect should get compensation ?

Actually for WoD they would kinda have a point.... ;)

So we all saw that ZoS is offering a free copy of Morrowind to those who are going to buy Summerset. The question is: what are you going to offer those of us who already bought the Morrowind expansion?

I paid eighty-***-dollars for Morrowind, and from your own press releases ZoS is offering us nothing. Nada. Zilch. *** All. ZoS, you already screw us over with $60 motif books, and $50 assistants, and $130 houses. You screw over Australian and New Zealand players but locking them out of competitions. You are currently screwing veteran players by offering next to nothing new in the holiday event reward boxes. You are currently screwing us all over buy continuing to limit old items to $4 lootboxes when world-over lootboxes are being made illegal. Gameplay is half-arsed, all the effort we put into crafting and research is being undone and made pay-to-win. Literally all new content is being marketed towards the handful of new players that pop up per announcement, while veteran players who have been here for years and put hundreds of dollars and thousands of hours into this game are stampeding towards the cliffs of "Cancel Subscription" and "Delete Game".

So, tell me, what are you going to do for us veteran players that will stop us cancelling our subscriptions and bad-mouthing you to the world? Because, honestly, I'm this close to giving you up. I've put 2577 hours into this game, and up until recently I still loved it; but with all of this, I am having a very, very difficult time remembering why.

Welcome to every MMORPG. This is one of the dumbest posts in a while. I played WoW for nearly 12 years. Over 700days of played time (over 17000hrs) and never once did this practice bother me. Nobody is going to pick up a new game and then by 3+ expansions to play a game. Its half the reason DLC is in ESO+. ESO is actually being pretty considerate to play. Most big mmos dont roll old expansions into the base game/new expansions until a handful are out.

You aren't screwed over by crown store items as most motifs are available cheap ingame and houses are not required.

ZoS doesn't lock any country out of competitions the government of that country does.

New players are the lifeblood of MMORPGs. Most 'veterans' dont playthe entire life of a game. WoW as an example has had hundreds of millions of players and only ever had a top of like 12.5m concurrent subscribers. Most people quit when content no longer interests them or it is too difficult to do simple things lile dungeon or quest zones (as well as money for sub required games). Marketing models have to be very poor to make people quit

Honestly, they shouldn't give a monkeys wirey pubes about what you want to 'not unsub or uninstall'. They majority of people are not of the same mind as you, especially MMORPG veterans because we are all accustomed to the business norm. Besides you are free to wait until next year to get Summerset for free with the next chapter. Feel free to quit, you and people like you, who understand nothing about business, wont be missed

I really hate the I had to pay for it so everyone else has to pay the same amount mentality that veteran players of this game seem to have.

For instance, my friend pre-ordered, had to sub for a year to play. Now I don't know what retail for pre-order was, but I know that she paid a hell of a lot more than I did, when you factor in the fact you HAD to have a sub to play.

I got the game for $60/$70 when it went off of the subscription model.

I saw the game for $20 in a walmart the other day.

You literally cannot tell me that you don't see how this works.

It works the same with a flipping iPhone. Let's say you bought an iPhone7 when it came out. I'm pretty sure they retailed for $745-ish USD Now, about a year and a half later it retails for $600 USD. Things depreciate in value as newer, better things come out and replace them.

And none of this actually takes into consideration that the 'free' copy of Morrowind is coming during the promotional pre-order. As in limited-time. This game would get prohibitively expensive for a new person if 3 years from now they had to pay for the game and 5 chapters all at full-original-retail price to play the game and have all of the advantages that Veteran Players do. And at that point, a game will choke and die on it's remaining players because there won't be any new blood coming in.

I have an idea, let's compile a HUGE list of all the times that ZOS has shown complete disregard for it's veteran playerbase.

    I'll start: LEVELING REWARDS

I guess they feel they already have our money... new cows incoming to milk.

Yep, these are the two largest sources of entitlement comments currently in the forums:

    - Morrowind inclusion in Summerset for free
    - Leveling Rewards

Some people just don't understand how the world works. I honestly don't know how these people function in society, to be completely honest. I have to imagine they just go around assuming everything is free simply because they want it to be.

I just want to say I've been here since launch, my sub has never lapsed. I have collector's editions of both ESO and Morrowind. I spend WAY more than my 1500 crowns a month (though I do buy my additional crowns on sale for the most part), and I don't feel like I'm being screwed in any way by Morrowind being added to the pre-order Summerset bundle.

OP: you paid for access to content when it was released. You've had access to said content since then. If you paid $80, you probably have some other goodies to show for that, too. You got your money's worth.

I for one, am happy to buy it because *le gasp* i am having fun. I treat it as a hobby expense for devs to make the game better.

Yes zos is not responsible for Australian and new zealand law BUT zos could of easily have done a competition that ALL their player base can join in, other mmo titles can achive this level of respect. Is discrimination against zos's terms and conditions?
Maybe their actions (competition, lag issue, maintenance during peak times) is why there is not a large oceanic based population on any platform.

And to answer the question "if i knew morrowind would be free would i have got it?" I cant change the past BUT since morrowind is free summerset should be free next year and hopefully when they decide to release 'new' content for their new chapter then can get summerset for free. Not just pay for another reskinned paywall area

See, stuff like this could be ameliorated by them doing something like, "Aaaand for our loyal subscribers, 5000 crowns to play with as you wish!"

Could be but you will buy any dlc they put out at any ridiculous price so why would they?

It's quite hilarious tbh, you all buy overpriced dlc then complain about ZOS treating you like mindless consumers.
