I think we should have another option of joining the imperial legion and work to try and drive all three factions out of cyrodiil.

I kinda roleplay this anyway with my Imperial. She thought who best to fit the Empires way of life? And landed at DC for their leaders cosmopolitan / open way of thinking.

The empire is legitimately dead. The legions are either under Daedric control or are so diminished that they're literally six people squatting in a ruined building in Imperial City. Non-Daedric loyalists don't really exist as independent entities anymore - they've been absorbed by other factions (primarily the DC).

Plus, the DC is already pretty much that option. Their whole stated goal is to restore the Empire, and the Empire has had quite a few Breton Emperors throughout its history, so... it really is a return to the status quo.

we already have a 4th faction!
it are those who already left the game!
the largest faction in the game!!
and if @ZOS follows the proposals of the Bergama duellist elite
we soon have only 2 factions:
    1. the duellists, crying for more and more nerfs
    2. . the 4th faction of those gone forever

Of the three alliances, the only one that could lead to a restored Cyrodiilic empire is the DC:

    - The Dominion would just absorb the conquered provinces into itself, to rule them all from Summerset... at most it could become something similar to the Ayleid empire; most definitely not something an imperial Cyrod would want.

    - The Pact doesn't care at all about the empire and would most likely just dismantle it for good.

I don't want to play an Empire Loyalist, but I would like for it to be an option at least for others. Might add something new to the RP aspect of the game if nothing else.

I would like this but I would stay loyal to the Pact. Empire could be on IC islands and have 3 parts of that as their home keeps. Each home keep would be accesable via one of the bridges and would be fun.

There's no more empire since the political structure has completely disbanded, the armies have either been broken up into bands of roving brigands or have been enslaved by the Daedra, and each of the 3 factions, having retained a degree of cohesion, claims itself to be the legitimate heir to imperial rule. In fact this is a pretty common situation in human history, when a larger kingdom or empire fragments and each faction tries to conquer the others, or even a new faction claiming inheritance from an older entity: ex. the germanic Frankish kingdom claiming inheritance from the Roman Empire, with Charlemagne being crowned Roman Emperor by the Pope in the West, whilst the Byzantines, the Eastern remnant of the same Empire claimed the same; later still the Holly Roman (German) Empire and Russian Empire claimed the inheritance. Even during the Roman empire proper there were long periods of instability, civil war, and a short sucession of emperors propped up, then dethroned, by the Praetorian guards and various legions: there have been as many as 4 successive emperors in short succession after Nero's downfall in 69 AD. So in conclusion you are in fact all playing the Empire, since EP, AD and DC all see themselves as such, and claim legitimacy.

From one of trailers we see spawning of the (potential) 4th playable alliance at some point. If zos release necromancer as a class at some point this will be even more justified. They do not have to be classic empire but the hordes of undead and now enslaved ex Imperial legions, just like Legion Zero. Daedra would be the leaders of the alliance and players who chose to be "the Empire" would just be a part of undead forces under the command of Molag bal and Tarns, as their puppets. It would be more interesting and would break 2v1 we have atm 99% of the time in Cyrodiil. This would also give us chance to visit IC from outside in some possible future expansion to PvP.

    No Empire is dead.
What's left of the Empire is run by Clivia Tharn (empress regent) and Mannimarco. Clivia is only Empress-regent by marriage and even if she was dragonborn (which I assume she's not) I doubt she's be considered a valid ruler by anyone.

By the start of ESO the Empire only really controls the Imperial City (and then in name only, it's the Worm Cult and Molag Bal who have the real power), most of their troops have deserted and between that and the invading armies Cyrodiil is in chaos and the lands beyond have declared their independence.

So in other words there's not much for us to join and it would be more like becoming a member of the Worm Cult than joining the Imperials.

The Empire the OP is likely thinking off, the 3rd Empire which is the one that ruled in TES 1-4 won't exist for about another 250 years. So maybe if you're playing a young dunmer or altmer they could live to side with Tiber Septim's conquest, but that's highly unlikely to appear in ESO.

(Having said that I'd love a TES game where you do get to play as a soldier, or more likely a secret agent type, during that campaign, both because I think it would make a fun game and also because it would be nice to see it all first hand and maybe clear up some of the uncertainties.)

Except the DC has been known to attack the orcs, and the orcs are a valued part of the Empire, so....thats not an option.

The orcs are now part of the DC.

Ayleids enslaved , the AD stands for equality. A bit of a difference.

AD wants everyone who isnt an elf or khajiit to be a 2nd class citizen at best

    13th*
Bosmer are 2nd grade already, and Khajiit at best 12th in the eyes of dominion

Yep, the darker, pointy eared ones are just milk and honey on the other part. Especially to the "beast" races :)

What grade of citizens would dunmer be in ad society? 2nd at best. Also, tbh, your reason here is like we are talking how John's father beats up his wife and you burst in and say, well Jim's father beats up his wife as well. Puts you up in bad light, as u were advocating for this, and I know you are not a slaver nor racist.

Yes I want to play a Empire Loyalist and join the Imperial legion. The Empire can rise again.
What would be incredible is having the two options when choosing an Imperial.

The warrior so stamina styled racial passives or the mage and magical styled passives.

A 4th faction would totally change PVP and imo for the better theres so much potential for what they could do.

A bit late now. Maybe in ESO 2 it will happen.

Fighting for the Empire was a big part of my play in TES games. I really miss it in ESO.

You are talking about who you fought against in the AD story line. Seriously, dont have such a selective memory.

The Thalmor would like to have a word with you....and equality isn't the word.

You mean 1000 years after this game? The AD story line in THIS game would like to have a word with you.

Just take a look at AD's "Your Queen Commands" it states that it would rather place an altmer infant than let another race sit on the ruby throne and under the same breath talk about inexperience and youth. If that doesnt scream 2nd class citizenry, nothing will.
