Doshira Not killable

A- BARELY have enough time to kill all the orbs as a healer class.
B- When I do have time to DPS the boss I can not do enough damage.
C- Sometimes all the orbs are not even gone and it summons yet more orbs.

Clearly this boss was not well thought out. It needs to summon the orbs at every percent of missing health to make it remotely killable to all classes/specs. Not every xyz seconds.

This is not enjoyable it can not kill me and I can not kill it. I have never played an MMO where I can not progress through it because the boss on a solo mission could not be killed.

This pissed me off so much yesterday as a tank type character. I had no DPS with sword and board, so my guildmates talked me into wasting 2 hrs leveling a 2handed skill line, which I was finally able to kill her after a 45min fight of kiting her and killing orbs.

I re-rolled to Templar to heal and dps, which I am leveling much quicker then a sword and board tank type.

I can not believe there are so many bugs in a release product like this. I expected some things in later levels above 20ish since they never let us playtest anything else except the starting area, but this is ludicrous.
I can't finish 4 quests now in Davon Watch area.

I hope I can help as I give insight to my own encounter with Doshira and how I handled it as a DK tank. Took me all of 5 minutes to down her.

    1) Move her off the platform and to the stairway.

    2) Use the stairs to kite her around and away from her orbs giving you time to kill them, they have very little HP and killing one gives you full HP.

    3) She has facing issues, meaning she will not snap your direction to fire off her lil land crawling whatever that is. Circle strafe is your friend here.

    4) Note when the orbs appear. There will be 4 at least every time she yanks you off the ground and siphons your essence. This is your queue to turn about and tab target the orbs. Do not worry about taking damage here as each orb will heal you to full instantly.

    5) If you are not killing the orbs in one shot, you might want to consider leaving and upgrading some gear. I encountered her at level 11 with some mix of level 8-10 gear and a level 10 weapon. I had all tanking traits active with no dps ones. The choices you make while leveling should reflect that sometimes you will be soloing some boss encounters. Spend your skill points wisely.

Templar yes but I am heals only no DPS skills. I want to play as a healer. The game should not hinder this. It should compliment my choices. If I can only defeat the boss in one skill set then this means that the game is broken as it is advertised that you can play how you want to play. If I can not play how I want and progress through the game (within reason) Then this is clearly outside of what was advertised and the scope of the vision they painted for us.

Your best bet would be to find out how other dedicated healers are able to defeat this boss. Is it not uncommon for even healers to adjust their play style a bit to meet different challenges?

Awesome but uhm there is no stairs. There also is no platform she is in the back of a cave. I had a spelling Error it is really called Doshia.

Somehow I think without the stairs and platform it will not work..

This is actually the root of your issue right here. Now granted, you can indeed choose to completely forgo any kind of DPS skill. But that is not the intent behind class design, at all. Even in group dungeons the healer will have to do things to help with dps. You can slap on a 2 hand and dps. You can sword n board. You can equip a DPS staff and auto attack using the staffs attack. Even the healing staffs have DPS auto attacks.

Need to start thinking outside the box hun.

Sorry but playing a pure healer without any damage/complimentary skills is not reasonable at all.
What will happen is that most probably you will run out of magicka and be a dead weight to the group.
There's no such thing as pure healer in TESO, anyone can heal through the restoration staff skill line, this while also supporting the group in other ways.
Skill points are not an excuse as there is plenty of them to have a very viable build even when maxing the healing stuf. I know, I have a Templar, I heal and kick ass in the meantime.
Probably the difficulty here is adapting from other games where healers just heal but this is ESO - it's different.

My restro staff is my dps. I should not have to think outside the box. I should be able to play how I like. This is how I was advertised. This is how I want to play. If I can not play this way then I was misadvertised to. I want to play my game how I want to play it and ESO said we can do that. Hey you want to try and "think outside the box" great for you. However that is not the role I am playing.

I haven't tried beating that boss as a pure healer, but it is possible to take down with normal bow attacks and some dps class skills. Templar has some strong skills in the dawn line that go well with a bow, and since you probably have focused on magicka for your heals they should hit hard as well.

Just the first two skills from the Dawn line should be enough, use sun fire, then solar flare then a heavy bow attack. Its fun shooting down all the orbs while trying to dodge and kite the boss.

    Oh lord.

Let me tell you something. You can play this game naked and weaponless. It's perfectly possible. Is it smart? No. Will it get you killed? Yes. Should devs cater to people who want to run around naked? Obviously not.

If you want to focus on healing and only healing, without any damage skills, knock yourself out. But don't be surprised when you can't kill enemies. Healing mobs to death isn't a viable combat tactic.

So you are saying that the advertisements lied??I do not care about what you think will happen in groups. This is a Mass Multiplay Online ROLE PLAYING game. My ROLE I am playing is of a healer. Why are you trying to tell me how I SHOULD play. I believe we paid the same amount. What makes you so high and mighty? How you believe I should play and how I want to play is two different things, I was told through advertisements that I could play the game how I want to play. Using my staff for DPS at level 9 is not going to hurt anyones group that I AM NOT a part of..

So tell you what buddy how about you go give advice to yourself on how you want to play. This is not me asking for advice and I really do not care to hear advice. I am saying this Boss is bugged and not well thought out as it is only killable by DPS specs.

Listen, it's very simple. If you hit a mob with wet noodles don't be surprised if he doesn't die. Combat is central to this MMORPG (as to many others) so what were you expecting? Also, it really takes 2-3 skills to get some effectiveness so this is just plain lazy and RP is just an excuse.
Btw have you seen the templar in the character creation? He has Heavy Armor and a Two Hander, ffs.

The beauty of this all is that you can mix any weapon with any skill lines, even without using the class ones, and it will work.

"Wet Noodler", I'm gonna coin this new term for all these people that forgot that games can be hard sometimes.

Took the words right outta my mouth. It is kinda fun seeing people that thought they were good at MMO's whining like this over something they can fix themselves.

Templars are not just healers. They are Templars in the purest sense. DPS Battle Healers. Trying to be a pure anything in an Elder Scrolls game is hilarious.

you don't need a dps spec. You need one AoE skill and some sense of timing on when to use it, or good mobility and reactivity. One of the best parts of this game in my opinion is that it forces you to adapt to what you are seeing. Doshia is far more kite-able than her more powerful cousins are and she casts the feasting spell far less frequently, so she is a good tutorial for something you will see later.

I play mostly as a tank in this game so it's not like I do massive amounts of burst dps either. I've killed harvester mobs (that's what Doshia is - you'll see a lot of them later) using one hander and shield with no AoE skills slotted. I've killed them with a staff by doing the kiting thing. I've killed them with a bow. And I've killed them with one AoE skill to murder the orbs and just hitting normal attack with insert weapon of choice. A variety of things will work on her. Standing there and hitting your heal spells while you dps with the resto staff can probably eventually work, but you will likely have to be a lot better at the game than the average player who just slots some damage abilities to win the fight.

    Whatever you decide, good luck.

I will just comment on this part, as this is the only part that is tackling your core problem.

The "play as I like" and "roleplaying" arguments are just a smoke screen.

Take this comparison, as you seem to know what real roleplaying is:

Me and my friends play a real tabletop roleplaying game. We have a fighter, a wizard and a healer, all of them not rounded characters but one-trick ponies. Is the character creation a problem or the GameMaster or the system or their own?! Now imagine, I as the GM, pit the healer alone into a dungeon where he has to fight a evil spider that heals herself with balls of light. The healer goes full charge, then heals himself until he has no more mana (magicka), then dies a horrible death. Who is to blame now? The dungeon designer, the gm or the player that just wants to be stubborn and plays with blinds?

In this fight, you have to adapt your play style and there I can only praise the designers for this excellent and very rare move in game design. It is not bugged or only killable by dps. Did it myself in beta with lvl 8 templar healer. Just use a fire/lightning whatever staff and you are fine.

Thank you for your comment but the thing is that at level 9 you only have a finite amount of ability points. You CAN slot other weapons yes but you will have no skills in said weapon.

My combo has worked great up till this point and I have no need or desire to change it. Then this happens and what I am left with is no choices or no way to change. I am stuck as is. Even if I took the time to level my weapon skill it ouwld not change the fact that I literally get no benefit from it skill wise to replace my restro staff.

Frustration sets in with nowadays players after they died the first time in a game. You already nerfed those bosses, please leave it at that. Better give the player an in game feedback/tips after dying 3 times.

I gave you advice on how to kill Doshia using one skill from the Templar Dawn's line and normal bow attacks. If you can spare 2 points for the aoe upgrade its even better.

Yshaar gave good advice on using the destruction staff- just 2 points and you have access to awesome aoe, that will synergize well with your focus on magicka.

I have tried over and over to kill her with my healer sorc. I DO have dps talents but they are just too slow or weak to put a dent in her health fast enough and spamming fast cast staff attacks do not kill the orbs in time. I tried switching to 2 hander and found myself dying even faster. You are not alone, this boss is not merciful to anyone that has slow or low dps. I focused most my skill points into resto staff and mana regen abilities so my leveling group could do group content right away. I hate these quest lines that force you to solo them, It is really not how I wanted to play this character. If i wanted a solo player TES experience id play Skyrim some more, its far prettier.

Adapt and survive. That's the name of the game. I feel the your pain though. She was a real eye opener for me when I first ran into her. That's what I love about this game though. It really challenges you to get creative and try different approaches. Even if that doesn't fit you're build.

I was able to finally defeat her by unlocking a skill that was better suited for her. Can't even remember what it was now (sorry, it was back in beta) but do remember it was Daedra, aoe, focused. I also added the best extra damage potions I could make at the time and quick slotted them.

Don't give up, you'll defeat her eventually and be better prepared for similar situations down the road.

    Good luck and happy hunting.

Doshia is easily killable with just weapon attacks alone, even easier with a ranged weapon (healing staff). Be fast on the orbs, and dodge a majority of her attacks, the battle will be fairly long, but as a healer, you should easily be able to survive and eventually take her down. It was actually one of my favorite fights because it actually required me to react quickly and not face roll my keyboard.

I'm just messing. Sorry. Doshia is very killable, just knock out her healing orbs and when you do, they heal you

simples, Doshia is down! Go home, reap reward and let out a sigh of relief it's over.

In Beta Doshia frustrated the crap out of me, but I kept going back for more and eventually she went down once I figured it. I love this game and damn you I can't get access until tomorrow. You lucky bunch of Elder Scrollers!!!

Beated her with 2 classes. Sorceror and Templar.
After understanding that the bubbles heal her I just dodged and killed the orbs with weapon (bow or staff) then threw some cc on her or some dot. And again and again. Fun combat I enjoyed that I had to think and not just click.

Also I should mention that this game is kinda hardcore because of the non-tab targeting and the crosshair that needs the player to do 2-3 things AND aim.
This is fun so far. Also I heal too but of course you need dps skills.
You can only slot 5 skills so take 3 heals (which is great by the level of 20) and some dps.
I don't see any problem here to be honest...

I was able to kill her on my cloth wearing, healing Templar at level 11 by switching out my normal resto staff for bow. I didn't have to change out my armor, nor did I have to invest in any bow skills. I just played smart and whittled her down.

The advise given for kiting on the stairs was accurate and effective in beta, but sadly they've changed the room she's in. At the end of beta (and I'm assuming now), she was in a fairly small cave like room, and resets if you kited her too far down the hall. I experimented with kiting her some, but your best bet is to keep in her in the middle of the original room as much as possible. Strafe around her to avoid her ground attacks. The orbs always seem to spawn near her, so there isn't enough room if they spawn on her in the hallway.

In the circular room, one pops in each corner. Giving you a few seconds to kill all four. Which means you have to be FAST, which is where the bow came in for me. I shot them with an appropriately leveled bow using the short, quick attacks. If you notice her health isn't going down or that it is regenerating, that means you aren't killing the orbs fast enough. They heal her if they get to her, just like they heal you when you destroy them.

For my fight, I hit her with a bow and instant damage skills when I had mana, while strafing around her in circles. Once the orbs popped, I stopped moving and focused on them only. Then repeated. It took forever, but I was able to get her down.

It was a challenging and fun encounter. One I'm sure would have been made easier had I been in plate, but it is possible to do in cloth. I enjoyed it, but I do think this fight could stand to be tuned down a bit. I can't imagine my mom or sister (who both play the game) being able to complete it successfully requires a more advanced level of player skill.
