Step 1 Make the game more casual.

Basic principle: Everyone needs to be able to do everything. Everyone needs to be able to get everything.

Normal would become solo content, veteran would become casual group content.

Step 2 Set up an Elite server.

Basic principle: Hard to Insane difficulty of content. Hardcore grind for gear.

Normal difficulty is pretty hard. Landscape mobs require attention. Vet is for the dedicated player only. Imagine if completing vFG would make you a name on the server!

Whos's with me?!?

No, everything that has a vet mode also has a easy mode and if it's hard mode cosmetic rewards you want you need to put in effort to get them as they are not participation trophies

With the mega server tech I would imagine they could do this now. I mean everytime a new overland area is needed to support more people it opens a new instance right? Just make one of those instances scaled harder, make one scaled easier. Then sort people according to what they pick. Now everyone can still play together and pick the challenge they want when they want it.

I would imagine it is easier said then done and money is money... so I wouldn’t hold my breath.

As for Step 1, if you've got an end-game capable character, normal probably already is soloable content. Veteran is casual already if you've got a good team (Maybe not Vet DLC, yet). Now, if you have neither an end-game capable character nor a good team, the difficulty level is just about right.

I didn't realize this was even my problem let alone all of my problems... time to sit down and rethink my life choices I guess.

Sorry, but the ROI just wouldn't be there for ZoS to do this. Sure there would be some uber-elite hard core people that would use the Elite server, but I doubt it would create enough revenue by itself to justify the expense of making it.

    Even more casual?

Overland content and non-dlc dungeons are laughable easy. Do you wanna beat everything while running naked and using your fists instead of weapons? Jeez.

I understand what your trying to do. But you are looking at it in black and white and its mostly grey. As a casual, i want challenge sometimes. I dont want the game to be easy all the time. I want a variety. Sometimes i want to be able to melt mobs and other times i want a challenge. I dont want to switch servers for a harder mode.

Like wise, im sure the elite/vet players dont always want hard, insane, and "bring a full stack of gems" all the time. That grey area is where more people are going to live wanting a mix of easy and challenging content. Something they can accomplish without a lot of effort and something they need to work towards to complete.

The problem really is the extremists on both sides. On one side you have the super casual that thinks they should be able to hit ~ and type "godmode" and play that way through all content. Then you have the other extreme that thinks you should be able to do complex rotations, have top gear, know all mechanics of every boss in the game and pump out insane damage playing with your toes while watching netflix and eating a bowl of Ramen in the latest trial and you should have it mastered by your 3rd run at the latest.

If one want something even more casual, go to play some other game, please. It's casual enought already. I don't speak about some really tough content here, like trials and arenas, which requires some skill and preparation, I mean 90% of the game. In particular, the overland content should be more difficult, it's unacceptable easy.

Its pretty easy to pick difficulty modes.
    For Overland/dungeon Content:
    Easy - use an end-game capable DPS/Tank/Healer
Moderate - use a decent character with under 20k DPS and PUG normal dungeons
Hard - use a hybrid build or random gear sets or an inefficient rotation, or PUG Vet dungeons
Extra Hard - use only bow light attacks

    :)
