Alternate Staff Attacks

Idea for staff attacks: Having the ability to toggle a staff between a channel and single shot. Meaning you could switch a lightning staff from it's channeling bolt to a single shot lightning blast. Alternatively, add a channel for fire and frost staffs. Is there a game play reason this would be a bad idea?

    I can't speak for PC, I'm on PS4. Currently a heavy lightning or restoration attack connects a beams between the target and the staff doing damage over time. A heavy fire or frost staff does a wind up and then fires off a fireball blast or snowball.

    You can heavy attack out of stealth with a fire or ice staff but a restoration staff or lightning staff heavy attack out of stealth doesn't hit as hard initially.

    It adds variety and makes lightning staves different from fire staves/ice staves. Seems fine to me, we have two staffs of each type (fire and ice are single burst, lightning and resto are channeled).

    You’re right. Adding additional options would decrease variety.

    No it doesn’t.

    A channeled staff attack like lightning or restoration is a different heavy attack than one from a fire or ice staff. I thought it would be cool to have a line of fire blasting an enemy instead of a fireball on a heavy attack.

    I would like this change. my flame staff would be a flame thrower. :smile:

    Homogenizing all 4 staff types to use the same attacks would.

    Bad idea vs making something basic over complicated.

    I’m not saying everyone agrees but more than less aren’t in interest to added steps to play the game. My observation has been the opposite, devs create overly complicated features and on PC, folks design add-ons for QoL

    I could only imagine the WTH comments for console only players.

    Someone said that the " Destruction mastery " set should alternate the animation between fire staff and lighting staff + add 2K5 magicka when you wear 5 pieces. This would be cool.

    The first question that needs to be answered is why. Then the discussion goes through a process that in the end determines both of it’s worthy to consider and if it’s worth the effort.

    It’s good to have different flavors and have things behave differently. Besides, the AoE affect at the end of a lightning attack isn’t going to come with a fire staff HA even if it was channeled.

    It would be cool to have a toggle so you could choose if you want your staff to be a flame thrower or frost beam. That way it’s player preference if they want single shot or channel. The damage would be the same in either mode but the method would be the player’s choice.

    I wanted something similar for the frost staff. To make its heavy attack turned into a DoT channel just like the Resto staff.

    Id rather see sorcerers split into 5 types: Resto, fire, frost, lightning, and summoner( That uses generic arcane/magic damage)...all with their own unique skill lines. I hate how skill lines are so generic in ESO.
