So what do you reckon on the chances of ZOS replying to this?

Your an ambassador, so how about you try and get ZOS to respond to these all too familiar complaints, they seem to ignore everyone who brings this up, so do you think you are in a position to champion the community and get answers.

Well we have the dropping of the 32bit client with the next update, that's probably going to give them the change to start pushing changes which don't also cater to older systems.
Things might have also got worse recently if people have gotten updates regarding Meltdown and Spectre as ESO is very CPU intensive and those patches can potentially slow people's CPU's down.

Otherwise I would imagine the updates would be the same as always. They're looking at way to improve but don't have a perfect solution. We have some performance updates with Clockwork City.

In regards to loading screen issues Gina made a post a few days ago.
    Hey guys,

Just want to let you know that we have been seeing your concerns. Game performance and loading screens is something that we're constantly monitoring and investigating ways to improve. That said, we do understand there have been an increase in reported issues lately, and we know it's frustrating. We have some fixes for loading screens coming to next week's PTS patch, and believe we have some leads for overall performance improvements that we're actively digging into.

So i take it that's a no, you are just going to make excuses for continued appalling performance, I really can't believe you are blaming this on Meltdown and Spectre, you are aware these are only recently updated issues and the performance issues have been ongoing for years,
What we require is for ZOS to own this issue and at least show they are attempting to fix the issue, we once upon a time, over two years ago had a thread created by ZOS regarding these very issues, It's been over a year since they even commented on their own thread.
So I ask again, what is it you do as an ambassador? Are you an ambassador for the Community or for ZOS?

You attacking @Turelus is out of line. The community ambassadors have nothing to do with game performance, and don't have any more pull with Zeni than any other forum member. Don't expect any of them to go around brandishing pitchforks. Dial it back.

The lag is so bad it's embarrassing . @ZOS_BrianWheeler , what happened to the study you were conducting to allieviate some of the lag ? Everything in Cyrodil leads to constantly disconnecting , rubber bouncing and freeze screen . This is so bad . I feel terrible for anyone paying a sub right now that pvps .

Really should rework effects. Trials, dungeons with a lots of effect I can go down to 3 fps easily and if I die my screen just freezes for a second.

(Any idea what can I tweak + which addon can cause lags spikes while giving/taking damag and when I die? Combat Metrics, GUI addons)

    Gonna test it tomorrow.

Since the "load screen fix" (which wasn't even needed for PC), I have had significantly worse network/server lag. I stopped playing in cyrodiil because of the lag. It continues to get worse though and even dungeons are lagging and desyncing hard. It's getting to the point where I ask myself "why bother playing this game" when the hard content I like - dlc dungeons - is frustrating because of lag & desyncs.

But please don't confuse lag with fps drops. If you're having fps drops, improve your system or dial back the settings. For God's sake turn your particles, view distance and shadows down before complaining.

From a development standpoint, I can understand why they don't say anything - it's because they don't have a fix, or the issue is architectural (core design) and impossible to fix. Product management will never support them spending 6mos to a year redesigning the core server, and likely the dev team doesn't even have the capability nor capacity to do it even if they did have the time.

Bottom line: ZOS will never say anything about this issue again, because to acknowledge the issue is to admit the game has a problem with no solution and that's bad for marketing. What we will see is a variety of patch notes about small tweaks and fixes that won't resolve the worst problems (cyrodiil), but may help with some of the minor issues. If your current gripe is cyrodiil lag and you continue to play just hoping it will be improved, then you should expect to be disappointed. You're better off quitting or finding something else in-game that you enjoy, like decorating crown-exclusive houses with crown store furnishings.

Never ending story... I play like 2 more MMO's most of them have one second lag but cyrodiil a lot fof stamina/magicka wasted without do damage, and pve is another history with necesary dodge roll or break to survive in vet dungeons. I bought this game looking for a good PVP history lol

A big part of Cyrodiil problems is due to a bad game design allowing massive skills spam using annimation canceling, gear procs and the annoying poisons. Come on ZoS is a very big server load to porecess. I play GW2 too and never have seen lag like this game. Skills in GW2 have a counter, the gear there just bring you more of x stat, that means no ukillable exploit builds. ZoS nned think what really Cyrodiil need to have a good play experience. By the way i use a work arround to Long Load Screeens that work mostly of times, when join into a group just execute a /reloadui. I hoope this help you too guyss,

For me, (PC NA) performance has never been this bad. Sure, some issues predate the ones we have now, but add frames dropping drastically and ping skyrocketing when engaging enemies to the previous issues. I've learned to hold block and "try" to use at least one skill because I cannot properly respond in battle with 4 fps and up to 999 ping. The frames and ping return to normal as soon as it's over.
Fan of playing magblade since 2015. (PC NA)
    Might be joking in comments.

5 days eso+ free and counting with no withdrawal symptoms. No more sub or dlc's for me until they start showing some respect for their paying customers and fix their game. The problems introduced in Dragon Bones are unacceptable and their silence and lack of action is disturbing.
  • digitalprowlerb14_ESO
I can confirm this issue still exists as of march 14, 2018. Just got hit with it today while doing crypt of hearts. I usally have 85-100ping, which is actually atrocious considering where i'm located and where the servers are. Tonight however, my ping is 247+ spikes all the way up to the 999 (the i can't even count how bad this server performs number) i'll stick around for a few more days, but if it don't chill back to normal i'm just gonna fix my lag with a chargeback and jet. just play witcher 3 till all the fair maidens are satisfied and Geralt dies of an STD /shrug /chuckle

This game was amazing. There was a point in time that nothing could touch this game. Can you believe it didn't used to lag on launch? No fps drops? It's true.

The performance has been unbearable for far too long now. I sat here one day and realised I had spent nearly 3 years fighting with lag, DC's and low fps to the point that it had become.the norm. I made excuses for it, and told myself that it was worth the poor performance for the quality of the games PvP.

I sat here playing as thread after thread got ignored by zenimax, content creators quit, guilds disbanded, and any semblance of organised competitive PvP died. I waited until it became too hard to find a fight, running for hours in a barren and laggy cyrodiil desperately looking for even just one decent fight a day.

One day I realised I was a fool, wasting my time. Zenimax let the PvP side rot. They crafted the most beautiful mmo ever seen for PvP, then let it die and hid the corpse. It was only when I stepped away from the game to try some other MMOs that I realised what this game had, it will never get back. Other games simply do not have these performance issues but still have as many if not more involved in PvP. Playing some games where the Devs listen and actually care about the community not just their wallets, you begin to realise just how little zenimax cares for PvP. And every day less players care too.

For four months I didn't even login once and it felt great. Cancelled my 3 year long sub. Now I play some casual PvP without a care for the game, not invested. Just how zeni wants us to play.

Tldr; if you are a serious pvpers in this game you are wasting your time. Easy to leave and enjoy a game where Devs actually care about PvP, just take the plunge.

Well myself, I am playing BDO currently. Not for everyone but it's a heavy PvP focus with performance far exceeding ESO in similar situations. Their PvP scene is healthy and alive with guilds everywhere and multiple community run PvP events, devs actually having a presence, weekly updates for free, many many content creators not just one or two, a PvP dedicated server, good mix of large scale and small scale action and although lag is definitely present in big sieges, nowhere near as bad as ESO, and the Devs actually seem to care and are trying to fix it. Although not perfect, I'm enjoying it immensely. I also really liked GW2, which is really similar to ESO in terms of PvP, and non weeb if that kind of thing bothers you.

Just a note: I'm not trying to compare ESO to other games, just fair observations based on my time away. ESO would still have the best PvP system by far if it had both an abundance of players and guilds, and zero performance issues. But it doesn't have any of that.

IMO they made a naive mistake when designing the game from the ground up. Actually two mistakes.

    1. Leaving calculations at the client-side, that lead people to cheating with tools like CE.
    2. The "megaserver" structure, that doesnt seem like its scalable to me.

Moving computation(or at least checking) of values that were originally in the client to the server side probably made a huge dent in performance.

Abandoning 32-bit clients is a good signal that they are implementing something to balance the load between CPU and GPU and thats what we can hope for. Server side, I really dont know what measures can be taken to mitigate/fix this mess.

    My 2 cents here.

I used to like this game. I subscribed to the membership for 3 month. But after a week, my game started to get massive lags which caused a rubber bending. I contacted with customer service to get support and did what I told to do (reinstall games and change modem settings, firewall settings etc.) But sadly that didn't go well. So I asked them to get my crowns and items which were gained from subscription rewards to get refunds. However, they refused to do that. It was very frustating cuz even I paid money to play this game and gave my extra money, I had to get along with bunch of lags. So I just left the game behind and never played since then.

    Hi,

I just wanted to make this post to acknowledge the lag problem that still exist in ESO. It is 2018 and ESO is about to mark 4 years anniversary.

My PC specs: Nvidia Geforce GTX 1080ti, intel i7 7700k, 16GB of ram, Windows 10 pro 64 bit. 200MB Internet download Speed, 30MB upload.

I still face serious performance issues specially in Cyrodiil. You might think that I should hit at least 60 FPS considering my Graphics card right?, no you're mistaken, i get around 30 frames and the server lag is even worse. For me 60 is bad imagine the 30 FPS or below? My skills don't even work sometimes.

Instead of releasing the dragon DLC they're going to talk about on the next ESO live stream. I think they should consider a game health and performance rework DLC, wouldn't you agree?

I decided to post this because I don't see anybody caring enough about this issue, I feel like players got used to the bad performance already. We all love this game so so constructive criticism is welcome.

I have the exact same system, but i have 400 Mbit down and 40 Mbit up. I have almost no problems with the performance in this game. So maybe there is something else wrong with your system? :)

Cancel you ESO subscriptions. Don’t preorder until they address this. Only way to possibly have this even remotely considered.

This has been ongoing and gotten progressively worse as the game has went on. I know for a fact I am not even considering purchasing the new “chapter”. No PvP content has been mentioned and no server or latency performance notes to speak of. I bought morrowind with the excitement of new PvP content in battlegrounds and was ecstatic for this change of pace.

...we waited MONTHS for ZoS to fix the damn que system of their game with some broken new and paid, for that matter, “content”. Don’t give your money to developers who don’t care about the community or their product and only about the money in their pocket.

Since dragon bones I'm experiencing a new type of server lag: it doesn't register my skill activations, or it executes the skill much later than when I press the button (like .5 to 1s after I push the button) all happening even though my ping is sub-100. This is happening in group PvE content like dungeons and trials.
