Maintenance for the week of October 6:
• [IN PROGRESS] ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – October 7, 6:00AM EDT (10:00 UTC) - 4:00PM EDT (20:00 UTC)

I need your honest options for a poll regarding what's killing PVP in ESO.

It makes me laugh when people complain about zergs. This isnt halo 2 with 4v4. Thats called battlegrounds.

This is large scale battles. Large warfronts.

Remember the eso videos before release with the 3 factions fighting? That was how it was designed. Of course if you are solo ganking by choice and a group of 40 enemies come against you... you are going to die.

What would be cool, is if this pvp had an aspect of battlefield. A squad system perhaps with better connections and communication between the entire alliance in esch campaign. More organization. Would be cool perhaps.

To answer your question... nothing is killing pvp. The lag and loading screens are the worst part.

3 stam wardens running in circles around trees, line of sighting and spamming trees with their 2 handers in hand with vigor popping off while being chased by 30 members of a different faction make me wanna just put my controller down and go play checkers.
"The red pill and its opposite, the blue pill, are a popular cultural meme, a metaphor representing the choice between:

Knowledge, freedom, uncertainty and the brutal truths of reality (red pill)
Security, happiness, beauty, and the blissful ignorance of illusion (blue pill)"

Insight to Agree to Awesome Ratio = 1:6.04:2.76 as of 1/25/2019

Compared to people that I've ignored = I am 18% more insightful, 20% less agreeable, and 88% more awesome.

    1. Lags.
    2. Ball groups.
    3. No objectives, beside farming ap.
And as result to complete objective of farming ap makes people to stack-up as tight as possible to spam only aoe and cause lags.

only in Vivec when all alliances are full at prime hours i see lag and delays, otherwise not.

    My problem is mainly balance.
Not all classes have unavoidable CCs.
Why is possible for a tank to deal the same damage as a glass cannon.
Why mag builds have to be drained of resources before they die, which is not easy.
Too much horse simulator, i would like Cryodill 5-10% smaller.

    Game balance and proc sets.

We've got Stamdens circling rocks in fury while a horde of potatoes is unknowingly turning them into a 7k weapon damage god of dawnbreaker.

We've got Skoria Magblades/DKs spamming resto/corrosive ults on cooldown because they dont even need a *** damage ult. A meteor drops every 10 seconds for free.

We've got gankblades who never actually fight, they just alchemst ambush incap selene proc scrubs all day.

We've got permablocking magplars in the back mindlessly keeping their group of potatoes afloat with BoL, but when your outnumbered group takes a beating targeting them down, their earthgore procs and all hopes are lost.

The game could have been great, the combat system is like none other, yet this is what the game is now.

    two things

    1: lag
2: skillgap, newbies/noobs get blamed by the more experienced players 19/20 times they find each-other, as a result this deters the new players from poking PvP again/more, often labeling it as "that place where you get insta-killed"

You cant sum it up into a poll and I would advise against it. It wont help. If you really want to help let this thread run for a while then distill it down into a well written easily digestible post.

Too much Major Defile, on the other hand Major Vitality is hella hard to get in comparison, balance at its finest.

It's nothing to be taken seriously though as much as the whole pvp in this game, there are landing ultimates that do permit to fire multiple skills at once, it's no secret, some other skills causes health desync, lag is another funny thing, I was flying yesterday on bleakers, I had all the panoramic view over the hill in static pose. There are many funny things going on.

Oh, and while Major Defile is all over, BoL is not even working properly, Templar class is broken right now, but who cares? GG @ZOS, still not a word about that.

PvP is stale, an endless tug of war with very few tangible rewards.

Any time I venture into PvP I just feel bored. The servers are horrendous so nothing feels responsive. Zergs are still the optimal way to take keeps in Cyro, even with the removal of AoE caps (finally). No matter how many enemy keeps you take, there's always one being lost on another front.

There's no clear goal and that's the major design issue in PvP.

To everyone crying about animation canceling. It doesn't and never has circumvented the global cooldown. People using good timing with their combos isn't them cheating.

What's killing PVP is hundreds of people in a gigantic instance mashing buttons repeatedly while expecting real time performance.

If ZOS could implement invisible load/release points to create subzones within Cyrodiil, that might help with some of the strain. But a lot of it is simply how people have chosen to behave.

The lag is so bad that half the time, the 40+ enemy is NOT rendering on my side until after I am dead. I much rather have the long load screens and be able to see the enemy.

For me it was no collision and a combat system that looks to me like people throwing hand-grenades at their feet to hurt others around them. Angry circles just annoy me and seem so lazy and circa 2000.

I think this game has its niche even though it's combat system doesn't really have any kind of connection to archaic military tactics, there is still teamwork and the clever use of the combat system's greatest weaknesses to provide your herd with an advantage.

The best thing about this game's pvp has always been the social aspect of it. And IMO the best thing they can do to preserve the base is to encourage more social interaction. The combat system's core isn't going to get revamped into anything I will ever enjoy, but i think there is room to grow the base for newer players.

The biggest reason for me is the massive disparity between builds and player skill.

This is a game where you can run into one player who hits like a wet noodle and dies quickly, and immediately after run into another player who hits like a truck and is immortal.

That, to me, is the biggest thing that shows how bad the balance in this game is.

Raise the floor, lower the ceiling, and make players a little more equal in PvP so that actual skill plays a role in who wins.

Lag is definitely problem #1 for everybody.

What you might consider is who /what to blame for the source of the lag. You also should try to differentiate between connection / latency issues and FPS / client / graphic lag

Disconnection is my main problem in big battles whether it's defense or offense, lag I can deal with as I have it all the time from my location other than that pvp for most part is great fun.

It’s far too time-consuming for me to get where I’m going only to be disconnected on the way or find an unplayable mess when I get there. I love exploring Cyrodiil, but when PvP happens I have to quit until it’s quiet enough to actually play again.

Last time people asked for that, zos killed two classes completely out of viability with their ''hurr durr sustain'' changes.

So no thanks, how about people learn how to build and play that build intead?

    My opinion is:
Bad game performance which leads to
Lag .. Being unable to respond while in battle.. examples- bar swap failure, skills do not fire, frame rate plunges to a slideshow, ping skyrockets. More recently.. flying around or sliding for minutes.
Disconnecting when approaching an embattled keep. Then not being able to log in until it's over.
Loading screens that last more than a minute.

After a few times of that garbage, people tend to log off. Some will rethink how they want to spend their free time.

The lack of penalties for large groups standing inside of each other. I vote for less damage and less healing (on an exponential scale) any time more than 4 people are within 7 meters of each other.
I see tons of people complaining about Zergs. I think we should fix it the same way Planetside 2 did, as they have a similar conquest system.

Friendly fire. Then small groups can watch the big groups kill themselves! Would be great!

Both quoted for truth and insightfulness. However what we need is not friendly fire but a sort of inverse AoE caps where the damage of your AOE abilities is reduced by X amount per ally standing in the radius.

While I agree this would be cool I think it would grind the servers to a halt, since calculations would skyrocket.

I suppose people would use fewer AoE around allies and that may offset it some.

Would be worth a try at least.

Basically ZOS’ negligence and refusal to reallt acknolwege issues both with server and game performance but also with the core structure of PvP, fairly to update it as time goes on and add interest. Most people will always go for the cheesiest, easiest wins that’s just unavoidable in a game like this.

    1) Lag is killing the game for a number of reasons.

    PVE reasons
it really makes running vet dungeons extremely frustrating when you have to have things timed just right... and lag mess that up and now you have to start over.

    PVP reason
Makes the game play impossible in lost of situations but also it benefits burst build class and gives them a huge advantage.

a lot of the other reasons I don't think would be a problem anymore if they fix the Lag, like the complaints of Zergs.

In general, I´d say that lag and performance issues are the big problem, though faction sawping is really a pain.
