Uhhh...is zos were talking about here. They think we need an advisor with 15 skills that have a stam and mag morph. Even when I was new I understood which ones I needed to run, and I had never played an mmo, I was expecting skyrim online.

When I first started, I didn't know which abilities had stam morphs. This helps new players figure that out (if you take two seconds to figure out how to change the spec suggestion). If you don't like it, turn it off.

In the settings you can choose magicka dd, stamina dd, tank and healer presets. It will than advise the "right" morph.

I had check through and what it's intended fur as first time players it's really good

You get a series of builds by pressing L3 you can choose from now the game gives you a guide on skills and passives to attain that build from healer to tank to damage dealer stam or magic to just first play boobs needing a balance of all
Or you can turn it off

This allows new players to pick the right passive and right skill to aid their preferred role with out wasting skill points once they have it all unlocked they can start to unlock other skills n passives to play around with n learn them selves.

Great tool for new players , you don't like it if turn it off

When did developers and the publisher create the game they didn't think things through on Stamina and Magicka they sort of like botched it up without realizing the results of builds for both Magicka and stamina.

Because new players obviously should use a procc based morphs as their first skill.
Maybe... just maybe use the other morph thats not forcing them to react to yet another thing in this already fairly complex game?

Many people fail at seeing the point behind this system. It´s for new players who are probably overwhelmed with things to do and skills to take.

and @op - calling a system stupid and failing to choose the right present. Way to go dude....

I do not know much about tanking. I am a healer, who decided to make a tank character. Based on what I've seen tanks do in dungeons, I got an idea of what the job of the tank is. With that knowledge I went to UESP to see all the Dragonknight skills, and picked out the ones I deemed useful. I then created a Dragonknight character and set the skill advisor to tank. The skills advised by it were pretty much the same that I picked out earlier. Decent system, maybe not the best, but hopefully there won't be as many "healers" and "tanks" who have no idea what they're doing.

The system is good and I am sure it will be updated. it's new, after all.

I don't know how often it does need to be repeated it's designed for new player AKA the people who have never played this game..or mmo in general.

Plus, at level 40-something you're granted Attribute Respec Scroll and one Skill Respec Scroll..which I am guessing exactly for for that.. to rethink your choices, if a player does not like the morphs and skills they used they can choose different options.

    - Breton SorcMag dps [She's got an identity crisis, but I believe in her.]
    - Dunmer Templar dps/healer [she's a healer, then again she likes inferno staff too...]
    And..
    - High Elf SorcMag dps [It's quite possible his daddy was a Nord.]

Did you know that for the actual Magicka DPS build for Sorc, frags is advised?

It's just the beginner build where it isn't, where that stun may come in handy (and most beginner's will just be hard casting frags anyways)

But yeah, the skill advisor doesn't "know" what you want, you need to select the build you want. It defaults to each beginner build that is more about questing/open world where you have a bit of everything (offensive, defensive, heals etc.) but aren't really great at 1 specific thing.

I used the arcane warrior build for a stam sorc on the PTS and while it wasnt how I would level a stam sorc as an experienced player, it was definitely workable for a new player.

In my opinion, I don't think it's right to tell a beginner player to pick a morph of a skill that pretty much every player can agree is bad. Instead, it should tell the beginner player to choose the morph everyone else has, with a brief video or set of instructions about hard/soft casting. It's never too early to start learning. They shouldnt push beginners towards builds that aren't really great at one specific thing because ESO PvE is all ABOUT having builds great at one specific thing unless you're like an off-healer specd for DPS.

Also i know this isn't directly related to the thread but they NEED to re-think hiding the skill-lines. Starting zones like Vvardenfell are littered with players asking in chat how to unlock skill lines. Why would you hide things from new players? Now they don't even know these skills are in the game let alone that they need to be unlocked in a specific way.

I think that its a pretty good thing for new players considering that you can choose your builds. The beginner builds should totally include some extra information about each class morph and when its useful rather than simply telling you that one morph is ill advised.
The Stam and Mag builds are all pretty up to date with the current skill sets of DDs.
Dunno about the tank and healer ones cause I don't have either and don't really plan on making those.

I have to look into this tonight. I didn’t see where to select role at. Was wandering why it said to morph surprise attack to concealed weapon?

If you click in the upper right area of the advisor, it pops up a menu with several different build options and the turn off option. Each of those build options has a summary description of the role. It has its quirks but it's not as bad as some have made it sound from the first impression.

I'm not certain it was the best use of coding effort on ZOS part...

Admittedly, to the uninitiated the game could be a bit esoteric (not to a WARFRAME degree tho ;)

I'm not even certain ZOS should be offering advice... don't they still say that hybrids are viable for all content? LOL!

I think the problem for newcomers is that the option to select a build is not that obvious.

Totally agree. When I first encountered it and saw the suggestions my first thought was "this can't be right", what am I missing. So I started poking around and found out how to change/turn off the advisor.

Eso does not know how players play their game. You can see that clearly every day with the stuff they DONT do that would make sense. No, they think we need more DLCs and thats it. Someone just welded a few casual builds together and put them in the Adviser and noone checked it... or noone could have done better. Which is sad, because every new player could do better. We could do better by far.

He probably has tank selected in group finder for faster pops and didn't recognize the actual tank skills on the adviser.
