Depending on gear setup and consumables, I have between 17.5K-20K magicka, 28.5K-35K health and 24K stamina. I have full stamina setup and either use maximum health & magicka food, or Whichmother's Potent Brew and I have 2 different setups, one for dungeons & off-tanking (5 Akaviri Dragonguard 5 Armor of the Seducer 1 Chocklethorn 1 Shadowrend), the other for trials main-tanking and dungeons where I need to stack a bit more trials (5 Ebon Armory 5 Torug's Pact 1 Chockethorn 1 Shadowrend or 2 Bloodspawn or 2 Lord Warden).

My tank's a nightblade, and I have like 3 Shadow abilities on my front bar. With that, he easily sits are about 44k health without trying.

I always try to hit around 32-33k, or at least between 30-35k. Obviously in some fights it's nice to have higher health beacause it gives more breathing room.

For example, my DK tank currently runs right around 33k health, and on selene's web vet last night blocking her heavy attacks left me with around 10-13k. That was easy enough to recover from with a simple igneous + dragonblood combo to get back to full. I've seen tanks get flattened by her even while blocking though, having less than 30k health (and probably less resistances).

The general rule for tanks I've always heard is 35k, but depending on your resistances and other factors (like self healing) you can play with that number a little.

Back when I first started tanking (TG DLC) the rule of thumb was 25-27K health after food. That stayed mostly steady until around One Tam, when Health tanks became meta for awhile, then died back down after Morrowwind. Some health inflated creep pushed the standard to around 28K-30K, but there are still some dedicated health tanks that sit around 45K-60K (but they're really limited).

As of this patch, I tend to adjust based on group and content to sit between 30K-33K after food/drink. Anything higher I feel is a diminishing set of returns at the cost of your other needs and responsibilities.

Just under 40k health before food. Nightblade abilities help, almost all points are put into health, and armor boosts health (although it will be higher after I complete a gold set). Only reason I focus so heavily on health is for abilities based off max health and no want for higher damage or spammable abilities. High recovery means I don't need as big a pool to pull from for stamina or magicka abilities either.

Nightblades have no abilities that scale off max health, you would be better served with higher magicka to make your heals more powerful.

Why would you use that on a tank, considering that your stamina recovery is stopped for at least 2s each time you block? If you ran a DK tank you would be better off running Whichmother's Potent Brew, that gives magicka recovery which is not blocked unless you are using an ice staff and have the relevant passive unlocked, and you can convert magicka into stamina 4:1 trough Earthen Heart:Helping Hands passive while holding block and casting Ingenous Shield. The conversion rate is in fact better, since if you cast every 6s you are also generating 3 ultimate through Earthen Heart:Mountain Blessing passive, and restored as stamina when you cast your ultimate trough Earthen Heart:Battle Roar passive to the rate of 46 per ultimate cost.

Vet pledges on my warden tank I'll go with 6ik+ health-I run gripping shards and arctic blast, both of which base their damage on max health. That's with Twice Born Star/Plague Doctor/Mighty Chudan with Lover/Lord mundus stones. Arctic blast take health even higher to 66k.

I use stam enchants and all armor enchants are sturdy. Resists are maxed both physical and spell. I always do quite a lot of damage with this build and while not very group friendly, it's super fun.

For vet trials I use Ebon/Alkosh and health is in the 40k/ish range-again arctic blast takes health to 44k+

My Dragonknight is 36k. It was like 40, but I was not having significant troubles even in pretty bad groups on vet content so I swapped enchantments. If I was more responsible about blocking I think I could go lower. I tend to rather enjoy punching the bosses around, laughing, and healing off their hits.

That depends a lot on the content you're doing. Some bosses hit pretty hard even trough block. For example the Earthgore Amalgam will hit for 15K+ even if you are blocking, you have plenty of CP allocated and nearly capped resistance, so I consider 35K to be the bare minimum in that fight if you want to pull trough.

Thanks for the input. I'm been running random vets since I got appropriate tho just purple gear for her. I don't think I've fought that one. Sounds like I should stick to 35+ for now. That is actually what I was aiming for when I last respeccd, I forget where I accidentally got the extra 1k.
