Really? A Crow Cheat in Cyrodiil!!!!??? Serious? WHAT?

Hello and good day.

So, pretend for a moment I'm new at this. This past month I have noticed while a lot of people are fighting in Cyrodiil PvP they have been making these odd sounds. Oh I don't know, duck, crow, something kind of odd, very odd chip/squak! So in anycase just yesterday I was fighting a few enemies in cyrodiil and managed to kill all but one and my resources ran out and had no choice but to pop off immovable (potion) which helped turn me invisible while I waited for my stam and magicka to regen, and oh look what do you know because this dude could not find me, he used a crow that flew right at me even though he was away and facing another direction and the crow hit me, took me out of stealth, which helped him finish me off.

First off it's bad enough fighting 5v1. Ask anyone, they love doing that, but god forbid its you that have 5 people and kill one of them because here comes the hate tells in whispers.

So, pretend I'm brand new to this game. WHAT .... THE ......FFFFFFF....... is this crow thing people are now using in Cyrodiil to take you out of stealth?

Stealth in this game in the past few days has become a real problem but I really really , really want to know what the heck this crow thing that targets you in stealth and takes you out of it and why it's allowed in cyrodiil pvp areas? Because I have never seen it until now.

No, it was a simple black purplish crow that flew right at me. The warden things, when im in stealth that passes right by or thru me but never takes me out of stealth.

    Unfathomable Darkness set maybe.

It can proc on damage and then is active for 12 seconds, sending out a crow that hits the closest enemy within 12m every 3 seconds.

Sounds like it is breaking stealth. Don't know if it is on purpose, but there have been other sets that act the same way, like that one that sorc were using for a long while with the three mortars that get shot out when casting a shield. Don't know if that was ever fixed.

It has a 10% to process whenever you do damage, then the crow flies off to strike the nearest enemy. I don't see ZOS nerfing this ability because if they did, the armor would be pretty useless. You must have run into a newer player because there are a lot better armor sets to run in Cryodiil.

    OMG, are we kidding?

Thanks for that answer as I now found this video:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUifTdRBAd4

However that said, this crow ability is allowed to target stealthed enemies? Cliff racer from the warden does not as I said those pass by or thru me but never takes me out of stealth.

Zenimax, are you seriously going to allow this proc to take people out of stealth like that? Why?

I think the rationale is that it hits the stealthed targets specifically because it's not a targeted thing-- the crows simply deal damage to a target within a certain radius. Dont wanna get hit, get out of that radius within 3 seconds.

It's sort of like "Magic: The Gathering".. A creature with "shroud" ability cannot be "targeted" by spells or abilities--- BUT it can still be effected by spell effects that do not indicate a specific target must be selected (such as spells that state "all creatures", "random creature" etc)

also the crows are flying entities that consist of like shadow energy, not inconceivable that your manipulation of the shadows might not work on them. There is still the chance that it's not intended to break stealth, but to my knowledge any ability that hits you while stealth tends to remove you from stealth

I admit I bought the set off a guild store for dirt cheap yesterday for giggles because having crows attack my enemies sounded amusing but I figured it'd be a joke set.

But this cracks me up on a usefulness level. If I was a pvper I'd run it just to mess with stealthers.

Yep would be the unfathomable darkness set, I use it in PVP on my warden. If you try to hide while its active they scope you out, very handy on nightblades.

After all the trouble with Infernal Guardian, you'd think that "Target stealth=false" would be a standard piece of coding for new proc sets.

you mean like streak from a sorcerer?
or you mean like healing from wardens and templars so much they cant be killed?
or you mean like defense so high from a blocking dragonight they cant die?
or you mean like when a nightblade cloaks to protect himself and you cant find him?

Or maybe that cool new set that automatically pulls them back to me after they teleport?
am tired of slotting gap closers just to deal with a single skill on a single class, there should be more options for counterplay

At least Defile has a variety of sources in game tho
if anything, counters for Shields and Streak should be increased to be closer to availability of counters for Healing and Cloak
Don't worry, every counter in the game will be listed by somebody now

That's my point, these things need counters, don't get me started on how annoying sorc streak is, even on the ally side they're annoying, much less against them.

90% of the time in PVP when sorcerers are in a panic and pressured they streak into walls—especially in IC. Cloaking actually works.

It's hilarious how fast people flip out.

What I find closer to 'exploit' but obviously not is how the OP was killing people, outnumbered and expected to get away scott free if something went wrong.
