Does the guild system need some love/work?

In my opinion the guild system could use some love/work.
I will list some things that I think should be in a game which involves guilds.
Please do come with more suggestions if you got any.

1-Online/offline
Right now I am using an addon to get notified when members come online/goes offline. Why not just implement this feature in the core game. Have it so you can toggle it on/off for a guild or all guilds. I don't think you should have to get an addon for such a basic feature in a guild.
EDIT: To clarify. I do think this should be an option to turn on and off in setting for those that do not wish to get spammed.

2-Promote/demote
It would be very nice if it posted in guild chat when you promote/demote someone.
EDIT: This should perhaps be an option to turn off for for example trade guilds where many promotions/demotions can happen at once.

3-Mass mail
Why not give us an option to send a mail to all or selected members in the guild?
It is a good way to reach all members at once. Online or offline.
Edit: On second thought, the GMOTD is a very good way to reach all members as someone pointed out, at the time of writing I had no space left in the GMOTD so this was an issue. I have since restrained myself in that section to make room for other things.

4-Guild bank
Oh yes... Why oh why is it either ALL ACCESS or NO ACCESS?
How can you ever trust people enough to give them full access to a guild bank? Sure there are some people you can trust that much, but this is still internet.
Give us an option to set a limit on how many items one person can take out per day or week. I want all of my members to be able to get some things from the bank, like potions, buff food or even gear. But right now the risk that some random jerk can come and clean out the bank is too high, and ruins it for everyone.
EDIT: Someone mentioned the implementation of different bank tabs which is seen in for example WoW, with the ability to restrict access via ranks to the different or all tabs. VERY GOOD SUGGESTION!

EDIT: Thank you all so far for all your ideas, input and criticism! Keep it coming and hopefully we can see some changes being made even though we do not all agree on everything. Would be nice if ZoS would host their own voting poll for what the players want to see the most and go from there. I can't change the polls now to reflect what you think is important.

Yes to the bank, yes to the mass mail, no to the promote demote (we can already see that, just not in the chat), no to the online-offline as you can add people as friends if you care about that... or get an addon on PC

Guild system should be rebuilt and expanded to actually be an interesting and rewarding part of the game. Heck add some moderation tools while we're at it.

We can see that in the history tab, yes. I just feel it makes it more special if it is posted to the chat, all others will see it and congratulate the person.

Maybe I am weird.

There would be too many poll option combinations if I where to make it as you want it, but thats why you can comment with your own ideas, like you did now.

There should also be specified notes member notes that they place themselves and officer notes only accessible by officers.

1. Personally I just look at the roster page to tell if someone is on-line/offline. Then again, I really only need to know when my friends or my raid leads are on, so that's something that I could do just by adding people to my friends list. I'm curious, for what situation do you need to know when people are online that you can't just look at the roster page?

2. I would think there'd be privacy issues with that. While its much rarer that someone's going to raise a stink about someone getting promoted, making demotions that public seems problematic to say the least.

3. If I had to guess, sending a bunch of mails all at one time bugs their spam detector. There are addons for PC that usually do that very well, but I know some people who have had problems with sending out a bunch of guild mails in a short period of time. So I suspect this one is on ZOS' security.

4. Guild Bank security, yeah, that could be improved on.

All (or most of this) you mentioned is possible with Shissu Guild Tools.
What is rly needed, is expansion of guild page.
For example, one bonus page for News/Events and Guild polls.

However, we're all different and would like different stuff.

1. the online/offline suggestion. With the easy potential of getting notification on 2500 guild members it is way to much. Additionally it is one more setting people need to figure out. A setting that would seem to be an annoyance to most (easily said since this is not something the masses are clamoring for).

2. would be acceptable though anyone really interested will look at history regularly. However, for some guilds like trading guilds, some with a constant flow of members coming and going, it could become an annoyance. Zos would need to look at how much traffic this causes.

3. Mass mail that only leadership can send is fine. However, Leadership already has the means to address the entire guild at ones. We get notified when the message is changed. That is essentially what it is for.

4. Guild bank needs some love. Zos attempted to improve it but that attempt was not thought through very well. Seems they took the easy route rather than the right route. Leaders should be able to section this off, grant access to each separately and grant view privileges separately as well. This is fairly common fair in older major MMORGS.

My main gripe with the guild system is not being able to rearrange the order of the guilds you are in. I would love that option.

my understating on the bank issue was that with this dlc. they were changing it back to where you can see what is on the bank with out having the ability to take out again.

They are reverting back to that all members can see the content in the bank. Still does not solve the issue that you either have to give a member full access or no access.

I do specify in my post that it should be toggle-able options. The whole point of this is that we should not have to resort to addons for very basic guild features.

I know there is addons for most of this, I am using them. Please don't come and say there are addons when I clearly am wanting it as core features, as they should be.

The access to the bank is not "manageable" via ranks. It is either ALL ACCESS or NO ACCESS. Not really "manageable" now is it? I did like the suggestions someone came with about having different tabs that can be locket to different ranks.

Re-working the guild system could give them a reason to put out a new feature ad or something. Which could open up the game for more players that perhaps was not aware of the game.

Either way. Why be so cynical? We will never get features we like if we never ask for it together.

I would like the option to be able to see what I've deposited in the guild bank. I don't need to see all the deposits or even all the things in the bank, but not being able to see if I've paid my weekly guild dues is pretty lame.

The guild system needs some QOL adjustments. Not so much on the PC side becasue of addons. But the base system in general needs some major changes to really make it a fun/nice system to use on console.

1. Dues interface with auto kick/demote/promote
2. Mass communication letters
3. Guild polls (in game)
4. Allow guilds to communicate in mass guild chats. (My trade guild has 7 or 8 separate guilds)
5. More controls on who can deposit/withdraw. Allow for some more detailed setup. For example allow a member to take out X gold per cycle at Y rank. Or X items per cycle at Y rank.
6. AUTO STACK ITEMS IN GUILD BANK

I am sure there are many more..

Yes, the guild system needs an option for members to be able to view bank. In our guild we have tons of things the members can use (recipes/gear/motifs/etc) but they cant see it to ask us to withdraw the items for and we don't wish to open it and possibly get jacked by an angry member who doesn't know how to control themselves.

Yes, the view bank items needs to be fixed, but still make it so everyone cant see guild bank history or gold amount.
They did this originally to stop on "Bid Spying" but with CWC it bugged the whole bank view system.
Yes to more Guild Slots. Yes to a lot of things mentioned here..

Just so folks know, YES ZoS listens to us. Look at the threads above. We asked to move bid times from Monday Morning to Sunday night, they did. We ask for help with Bid Spying, they did.
There are lots of stuff in above threads that ZoS has listened to, but there is SO much more love Guilds & GM's need.

In another game I played (rift) there was a guild search function in game within which guilds could be catorgorized.

Players could look for specific guilds types and read a note similar to the Motd we have now.

This also would cut down zone spam.

4. Guild Bank

Guild bank needs love asap.

I'd love to have some kind of events calendar. For a guild with lots of events the MOTD surely doesn't give us enough room
