On 1vX PvPrs and Battlegrounds Objectives - A Rant

I play and enjoy PvP for the mechanics and actual combat, not some irrelevant PvDoor. It’s the same difference between small scalers/ groups that look for fights, and those that care about the alliance war and play for points and scoring. Being able to run a relic or hold on to a chaosball does not demonstrate skill or stimulate high octane PvP. Quite the opposite rather. It rewards lame Tank builds that literally build to not fight. As such, I will gladly play the objective in deathmatch or domination or crazy king...modes that encourage and set up actual PvP. The PvDoor modes tho? Nah I think I’ll just use those modes as target practice.

I bet you’re also the guy that thinks seiging a keep and capturing a flag with a train of zerglings is skillful and distinguished gameplay, but 1vX, small scaling and organized group vs group fights are pointless distractions. Our preferences and philosophies cannot be reconciled, and so let’s agree to disagree. I do not see the point of your rambling though...are you looking for validation of your views? Cus the only thing this accomplishes is ensuring that the “sorcbois” of your platform and server get an extra dopamine kick every time they pop you.

    Insightful indeed.

Shield stacking is the behavior that sickens me

Why...? The use of wards is perfectly logical and acceptable for a means of defense regarding magicka users. In just about every RPG I’ve played, magicka users can summon: Barriers, shields, wards, etc. as a means of defense. But because these things may appear to be overpowered within a PvP environment, the PvP crowd wants to go and have stacking removed. Knowing damn well it’s going to hurt the PvE crowd more than the PvP crowd.

Haven’t you all hurt the PvE’ers enough? Seriously. No more Bolt Escape repeated usage (without magicka penalties), no more repeated dodge rolling, no more stamina regeneration while blocking, Destruction Staff ultimate toned down, shield duration decreased, proc sets being able to crit, etc. And it just goes on and on and on. Patch after patch. And then because the devs day, “No! It wasn’t because of the PvP’ers throwing a fit that we nerfed these things.” You all parrot how it wasn’t you all’s fault, knowing that it wasn’t us on the PvE spectrum making complaints about these things. Why? Why do all do this?

I’m going to say it once more, because apparently people within the PvP crowd refuse to understand. This game will NEVER have true balance from a PvP perspective. Ever. And the reason behind this, is because they refuse to seperate the balancing of PvE and PvP. Regardless of the numerous complaints the players have made for years, they won’t budge on it. Why? Because it’s too much work for them (laziness), and they have their own vision in mind. Screw what the consumers want, even though we are the ones who are lacing their pockets and buying their content. N’ah. If it isn’t apart of the script, it gets ignored. End of. We can: Act a fool, rant, rave, etc. And it won’t mean a bit of difference. As is ole’ Wrobel balances things as if he’s throwing darts at a dartboard. Lol. What makes you think that these jokers are going to do the right thing for once?

Who on earth shield stacks in PvE?

I love playing bgs just for kills. In fact, I literally only go in there to play death match (which is every game mode). Truthfully as long as it is Cp enabled, there's no point for dps players to play the objective as long as the tank/heal/zergball meta reigns. Once it becomes no Cp perhaps I'll play an objective here and there, but until then I'm going to keep "dragging my team down" with my 15-40 kills every crazy king and domination game ;)

Scariest BG opponent on Xbox NA here for sure. A perfect example of being disruptive without playing objectives. Anytime @Liam12548 is in a BG you have to tab target him and never lose track or he’ll devestate whatever you’re trying to do

This type of playstyle has been around forever though especially in fps games where people would only matchmake in objectives to boost their kdr. I like to kill players in eso since this game grew stale to me a little before dark brotherhood. sure i will play the objective for a bit, but i go in there to pvp and will spawn kill if I can.

That player...the sorc you mentioned. You say he wasn't helping his team?

It's great for the team that you have players with different interests.

You have a player who's REALLY good at killing others...know what he's doing? Keeping THEM off ur flag, allowing for you other hard charging warriors to defend (which the others sucked at apparently and need to L2P) and take relics from other base. (Which the others sucked at apparently and need to L2P).

There's always room to kill in BGs. The only way ur not helping ur team is if you run around in circles not killing, not doing objectives. You can do one, or do both. You get to choose before entering the BG. As long as ur doing SOMTHING.

Remember the enemies to that sorc were not taking objectives for the duration of the fight, and for as long as it took to rex. I'd say he was doing more for ur team than anyone else on his team. Locking down multiple players into redrawn timers...pretty valuable to me

Isn't you that player, Sypher mentioned in one of his streams, who inspired him when he started play eso for grown own skills in pvp for 1vX? This is a compliment if that

You completely misinterpreted the story. "SorcBoi" was not on my team; he was on the Red team, I was on Green, and the Purple team was the one that was taking the Red relic repeatedly.

It was quite great for his Red team, so great, in fact, that they were so excited that they completely failed to defend against the Purple team and caused Purple to win while "SorcBoi" was busy with fighting two of our Green team.

I don't mind if you go attack other players if you like killing so much, but at least focus the right ones (eg. the team that's actually being a threat to yours ie. Purple, not Green).

The fact that most people play BG because they want quick PvP combat and are forced to play capture the flag is the real problem, IMO. But... if Sorcboi is going 20-0-20 on your team, even not helping at all with objectives, how are you still not winning that match... and if he is going 20-0-20 on the enemy team and ignoring objectives entirely, shouldn't you still be able to win since the matches are objective oriented after all?

I think the point was that Sorcboi was off doing his own thing, when his team clearly wasn't able to handle the objectives without him.

Had Sorcboi focused on the objectives and helped his team, they might still have lost, but they wouldn have done much better.

Instead, Sorcboi got to have fun doing his own thing and his team got slaughtered.

On the one hand, I find it hard to blame Sorcboi for thinking "I want a deathmatch, I don't want objectives, I don't care about winning, so I'm going to have fun. I'm under no obligation to carry a bunch of randoms to victory."

On the other hand, you queue into Battlegrounds knowing its a 4v4v4 team PVP arena. I'd find it hard to blame Sorcboi's teammates for being annoyed with him focusing solely on killing players instead of helping them not get slaughtered in the points. I also think its not surprising that Sorcboi's opponents noticed and aren't too impressed with his teamwork.

How much you weigh teamwork and responsibility to the team of randoms you queued into versus "i'm just here to have fun and good fights" is something each player has to decide for themselves.
