By the way, is there a Russian zone chat, I wonder? This thought never crossed my mind before, even when I know about language-specialized zone chats for officially supported languages, such as French and German. When they ask in zone-chat in Russian/German/Chinese/whatever, there's more chance to find someone who will talk to them in their language.
This game has international servers. Servers are not English nor German. They are INTERnational.
If you referring to films, which were translated lets say 15-20 years ago, when there was no teams of professional voice actors, I tend to agree. But now situation is completely different. Voice acting is on a very high level. Sometimes voice of a Russian actor fits character even better then native one. It's completely my opinion, but check out a Russian voice acting of Ulfric Stormcloack by Sergey Chonishvili, for example.@ Logarifmik - fan translations, possibly. official translations though tend to suck, though I will say, a lot of that is just awful AWFUL voice acting. I'm sorry, I don't know what the heck happened to russian actors recently but so many of them still filming in russia are just... godawful.

I see the JP zone chat used on NA a bit. On EU i see a a mix of the various language zone-chats and everything (plus additional languages) in the 'global' channel. I occasionally see some people use the EN zone channel as well but that is rare :PYdrisselle wrote: »logarifmik wrote: »By the way, is there a Russian zone chat, I wonder? Nope, there isn't. French and German zone chats exist (also Japanese), but I have no idea how many people are using them - I assume not that much since there are always German and French guild ads and questions in the English chat. Or the people simply don't know that they have their own version.

No offense to the russian people, but I think its time you guys adapt more to the rest of the world. I live in the netherlands, and dont get a dutch translation either (nor do I want to but thats a different story).
It's still not that common here to speak English well. To be fair, part of the blame lies on the educational system, while technically most people study English for 10(!) years at school it's set up so badly most people barely know how to say "hi my name is N" after that.
I do agree with you though, there're many other ways to learn a language, especially one as simple as EnglishIt's a LOT easier than Russian lol.

I speak French and Italian (not fluently) and I find its a common miconception among brits (who do not speak any other language) that English is a difficult language to learn. It is not. No genders for nouns, regular verbs are so simple and regular tenses also. There is irregularity but for conversational (or gaming) purposes it is lemon squeezy. I've met people who have learnt to speak it well from watching Sky tv with their native subtitles. I think the mindset in the UK is generally everyone should speak English and that is so wrong IMHO.
Speaking English well enough to communicate in a professional environment and handle everyday conversations with strangers? Yes.It's time for people to stop pretending speaking English isn't a mandatory skill in the modern world.

The only thing that repels is the lack of translation into Russian. There is an amateur translation, but I'm sure that it will not be complete, the more you announced 4 DLS in 2018. Make a gift in the New Year to the fans of the game in Russia, translate it for us.
(Игра потрясающая! Мне раньше не приходилось пользоваться таким разнообразием в игре. В неё хочется вернуться снова и снова. Единственное, что отталкивает - это отсутствие перевода на русский язык. Есть любительский перевод, но я уверен, что он не будет полным, тем более вы объявили 4 DLS в 2018 году. Слелайте подарок в Новом году поклонникам игры в России, переведите её для нас.)
To be fair, most (if not all) people who said it in this thread seem to speak English as a foreign language.I agree that being able to speak english is a must skill in life nowadays, but i would love to see how many of the native english speakers that say "learn english dude" can speak more than 1 language.

For example, the game Witcher 3 translated completely into Russian, than the fans of the world The Elder scrolls worse? TESO is several levels higher than the Witcher 3, so the TESO game simply has to be adapted for a very large number of players around the world. I hope the authors of the game will hear the fans and translate into Russian and other necessary languages.
(На мой взгляд, авторы игры сделали большую ошибку тем, что создали игру для определенных языков. К примеру игра Ведьмак 3 переведена полностью на русский язык, чем поклонники мира The Elder scrolls хуже? TESO на несколько уровней выше Ведьмака 3, поэтому игра TESO просто обязана быть приспособлена для очень большего числа игроков во всем мире. Надеюсь авторы игры услышат фанатов и переведут на русский и другие необходимые языки.)

I had english in school for 10 years, and I learned very little from it. My English skills were mostly learned through gaming english games, watching english movies and reading english books. At some point in my life I turned off movie subtitles for good since they were just a distraction. And I don't think I have ever watched a synchronized movie, except in the case of the only genre where it's appropriate: cartoons or shows for kids (which I, as a dad, naturally gets to see a lot of).

Not needed. Most adequate players knows english well. And uneducated russians are extremely toxic. Even now the most toxic players are usually russian-speaking.

funny, such shade, about toxicity of all things, being cast by a person making such an egregiously stereotypical statement.

Well its actually true. Teenage Russian gamers have a VERY toxic subculture, unfortunately.
Not everyone is toxic, of course, but there's a very noticeable tendency.
