I think the greed is primarily on the part of those players who don't like the idea of someone else getting something they haven't got.

What market? The mats market? Green and Blue mats are already cheap, as are runes that are not Kuta or Hakeijo. The total gold is less than what I make doing my daily Pledges and selling the loot. None of the awards will have any significant effect on the market.
I don't see any reason it should be retroactively applied, and nothing is included that's going to make much of a difference at all to vet players. It's all fluff outside of the horse as getting a horse as a new player can take a little time until they figure out how to get gold.

It's obscene is what it is...
We've already Lvl'd multiple characters without This Advisor, why shouldn't we get the same rewards for already having done so? LOL What is Greedy about that!?! This is some reverse psychology BS LOL, "I know you are but what am I!?!"

Agreed, the more loyal of players seem to always get screwed mostly in almost any current mmo
I admit I am envious and annoyed that I and many others have supported this game for many years now and have already maximised our character slots (some even buying expansion slots to continue doing so) and that new players will get free crown crates, mounts, costumes, crafting materials just purely and simply because they're new.
Why they cannot at least retroactively give crown crates per character that meets the milestone, every 10 levels, or even 1 per level 50 character is better than nothing.
Peoples only answer they seem to give is "buy a character expansion"... I already have them all, now i'm going to have to delete a perfectly good character and re level them just to get some free crown crates so I dont get shafted more by the shafting specialist, ZO$.

Loyal. Players. These two words, do they go together?

Your forgetting about the rng real $ crates

Children will each receive a new bicycle when they reach the age of ten, but children who are already 10 years old or older won't get one. People will get a free loot bag, which may include the keys to a customised motorcycle, when they reach the ages of 20, 30 and 50, but people who have already reached those ages won't. People who are already 50 years old or older will get absolutely nothing.
There would be tears. There would be riots.
But this isn't real life. It's ESO. So, it's ZOS's call, and I happy with that. If these rewards were made retrospectively I think it would be a nightmare for ZOS to work exactly what each player is due to get. Avoiding that cost has got to be a good thing, surely. There are much better things for them to be doing with their time and revenue.
I know I'll eventually level some more new characters from 1 to 50. The free stuff isn't going to disappear in the meantime. I'm prepared to wait.

Its unfair that players that played the first year was given something that no one else was able to earn. Thats unfair.
So at the risk of injecting facts into the forum, what are these items?https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/388819/pts-patch-notes-v3-3-0

20K gold is nice; I made >500K last week, but that was high even for me, 20K is worth picking up. A horse every oldbie already has. A costume, nice. 3 crates, nice. Some semi-trashy items for levelling. 10 purple mats, worth maybe 4K gold. A key. The crates are worth 1500 cr, but there's bonus crates enough times now that it's not *incredible*, and everyone already complains about how useless crates are (I like gacha, but some people don't like fun). The coffer's value depends on how much they cost, might not be a big deal to just get it if you're level 50.
I don't see anything game-breaking there. If you don't have a level 3 mule to level up (I can play my recipe mule for a couple weeks for free stuff), or any empty slots, you have to pay for a slot, but then you have another character slot, it's not just wasted.
The point of incentives like this is to get new players or keep people playing, staying in the MAU. Giving it away just because someone wants it doesn't do that.
The horse is sort of a remedy to pay-to-win. Used to be, you either bought Imperial edition with the 1 gold white horse, or another DLC starter pack with a mount, or had to save up for the 10K horse before you could even start levelling horse skills. By level 10, someone ought to have 10K, but spending that might be hard; just giving newbies the horse evens the field a bit.

If those or something along those lines were given as a longevity reward, say having been on-line for X amount of time or some other reasonable measure of loyalty then I think all would be ok.
