How does one keep Engine Guardian up constantly?

Is there some method for particular classes to keep the Engine Guardian dwemer active almost all of the time?

I ask because yesterday I ran into two different players (with names I recognized as long time players) who were both using the set. I hadn't seen it much lately (PC NA) and so they stood out. More so because both players were able to keep respawning the dwemer almost immediately after the prior one expired.

Just wondering if there is some trick like casting 'over time' skills gets a chance to spawn it every tick, etc. Because otherwise the 10% per skill cast chance seems inconsistent with how much these players were able to spawn the dwemer.

I mean, one proc per 10 seconds when casting an ability every gcd is going to "respawn the dwemer almost immediately after the prior one expired" as you observed. There are also a couple of abilities which cause artificially high proc rates, but they're intended mechanics.

Or the players were cheating. That's the usual fallback explanation, right?

Not for me.

I was wondering if there was some new mechanic, etc. It was just kind of strange running into two players on the same afternoon who were both running it and both able to keep it up constantly.

The tooltip says 10% chance on every ability cast. Presumably, abilities cast while the old one is up wouldn't spawn another one later. So the 10% should start on each ability cast after the despawn. That didn't seem to be what was happening.

Yeah I've noticed some abilities seem to proc it incredibly frequently. I'm not sure if ZOS' does this on purpose, but I assume they do. I have a sorc friend who keeps his dwemer minion up nearly 100%.

Skoria behaves similarly, I've noticed certain abilities cause a proc almost every time on first cast.

So there is a 'secret' method to spawn the dwemer, one that isn't actually documented in the tooltip?

With a 10% proc chance it is statistically impossible to keep 100% up time. That first skill used after the dwemer de-spawns only has a 10% chance to spawn the next one. On average it would take 5-6 skills used before it spawns again.

So no, it should not spawn almost immediately with regularity. It is on use of the skill, not tick of a dot or anything like that.

If you know of an ability that gives a higher proc chance please do tell.
