@ZOS_GinaBruno Is there something that we as players can do ? having leads is great and all but if you guys business is anything like the one i work at Production environment and Test environment Are typically different specially when you are dealing with over 1000+ users.

I for one want ESO to succeed specially the PVP but ZOS really does need to do a better job at giving us SOMETHING a little bit of hope goes so far. you just commenting on this post greatly helps moral, but it will only sate a few of us. I love what you do i think you are one of the best community managers in any game that i have been apart of but, Alot of us have been here for over 4 years and we keep getting the same thing and it gets really dis heartening.

I have Mad love for yall but just give us something. You tell us what you need and we will get it for you im 100% certain the community will help if you allow.

Proper dispersal of populace in campaigns would help. Some are Full/Full/Full. While others don't even have the first bar filled at times.

People wanna zerg. If more incentives/restrictions were added there probably would be more stability.

Actually I remember playing ES4 & ES5 thinking that this would be a great setting for an MMO.
I think that ESO presents opportunity for more creativity and cultural explorations. I always felt off playing other races than the home races of the province we were playing in.
it always felt more appropriate to play a Nord in Skyrim, Dunmer in Morrowind, and Imperial in Oblivion. (though I always had an Argonian character save)
I feel in ESO I have more narrative freedom to be who I want. (However, I do have some discrepancies with the class system but that is for a different thread)

    Hey guys,

Just want to let you know that we have been seeing your concerns. Game performance and loading screens is something that we're constantly monitoring and investigating ways to improve. That said, we do understand there have been an increase in reported issues lately, and we know it's frustrating. We have some fixes for loading screens coming to next week's PTS patch, and believe we have some leads for overall performance improvements that we're actively digging into.

    Yo,

i know. Clickbait title but i mean it like i wrote it.

Everyday a new thread is created complaining about the biggest issue in ESO. The horrible lag in Cyrodiil. Everyday. When they do ESO live stream the chat is spammend with questions about the ongoing lag in Cyrodiil.

They are not reacting to it. They are just ignoring it. No Comment on Forum, no Comment in Stream. There are now more then 4 Patches without any improvement to this major issue.

We really need an big improvement to this issue. With this lag competetive pvp is not possible. Everything has a huge delay or is just not working.

And another Question: Why are there no pvp related DLC? We got Imperial City wich is kinda pvp related. Thats it. Nothing more. Okay Battlegrounds where are most of the gamemodes more pve cause its just running for the objective...

ZOS, pls improve Cyrodiil. Increase the Player Limit, Decrease the lag. Make Cyrodiil great again!

The answer is yes they will keep ignoring it.. A lot of us think its because they cant fix it. Its honestly a joke at this point. Everything you said is 100% true. They ignore it on the forums, they ignore it in tickets, and they ignore it on eso live. Its scandalous. Honestly, we would prob have to get a thread with like 100 or more pages for them to even make a remark on it. Its the only complaint i have about this game and it ABSOLUTELY destroys the game for me.

I am a solo pvp player on console so this hits me the hardest, and thats not to say its not bad for everyone because it is. Every SINGLE person i speak to says the same thing that happens to me. Idk at this point it looks like nothing will ever change, especially on xbox.

    Serious question;

I saw a while back when you guys were talking about pvp that it was mentioned that the reason it lags so much is due to the amount of calculations the server needs to make and as it struggles to do so it causes lag.

So what about putting the foot down harder on marco users and scripters. Arent they directly contributing too the problem? (its bassically cheating as well).

Precursor ... I don't want to come at you personally -- You're a fantastic community manager and we all love you,
but how dare you. You, or any of the devs, do not know how frustrating it is. Nobody believes ZOS' frustration exceeds "Oh, these benchmarks are below what we'd like to see... how frustrating." That is not frustration. Frustration is sinking hundreds of hours into a game because you believe it to be the best, spending over $1k on a rig specifically for this game, watching players you looked up to abandon the game in droves and waiting year after year for performance improvements that appear as distant as always.

So please, next time you feel you should respond to PvP being broken, just don't. Because if 20-30 fps and 200-300ms latency is not taken as a red flag on a sinking ship in dire straights then you leave me with little hope. If there is not complete panic on this issue than there is only disdain and resentment toward Cyrodiil and it's players. We're all waiting for ZOS' admit to defeat that the game is simply incapable of performing what it was meant to do.

Ill be dueling people @ 4am with literally 2 other people and we'll all be lagging.. and thats not every day but it happens. You're just not going to have real-time performance with the size of the map and the number of people mashing buttons.

Any time I've been in Cyrodiil in the middle of a big battle, I just take a deep breath and say, yes, this is exactly how fast a server can process and resolve this many simultaneous requests. There's no real way to fix that. There's no cure for people congesting a few map points instead of spreading smaller battles out throughout the map. It's turning PVP into a Black Friday queue where everyone's banging at the doors and claiming to be the first person in line. PVP DLC won't help the problem. If they're not fast, cheap, and easy AP farms, then they're inferior to Cyrodiil.

I don't see ZOS having any chance at appeasing people who choose playstyles that complicate improving performance. So in a way I see PVP as a reflection of the player base and not necessarily ZOS's fault.

No. That's not it. ZOS needs to roll back their 1.2 lighting and FX upgrade. Performance In Cyrodiil has been **** ever since that "upgrade." Seems they'd rather the game looks good rather than plays well.

This takes me back to Wrobel’s reaction of watching poisons melt 1 of the testers, while they were doing ESO Live. It was so priceless, but what made things even funnier. Was that we (the community) had been telling him and the other combat devs that poisons were overperforming. And that they needed to be taken out. You know what these jokers do? Even after 1 of the testers got melted during an ESO Live? They go and buff poisons again, a patch or so later. Lmao.

But that is not the same thing at all. I agree with you that it needs to be fixed but you cannot compare fixing a piece of equipment to fixing this environment across 3 different hardware platforms. Plus take in to account the non-uniformity in PC clients with add-ons etc and network/ISP lag and even differences in console clients with PS4 Pro/Xbox One X etc. Everyone seems to think you can flick a switch and make it better. It's just not that simple. You really need a good understanding of IT infrastructure, database engineering, software coding, and a number of other topics to be able to even comprehend the difficulty in fixing this. I understand the infrastructure side, (in principle as I don't know how the server farm is actually architected), but the other two elements mentioned I have no clue about apart from a rudimentary understanding of how they sit on the infrastructure and basic methodologies for database design.

As other posters have mentioned, rolling back some of the graphical improvements, (both client and server side), may help but for console players that is not really an option so that is not the fix for all. Put more servers in may help with the number of calculations per second required but it may mean a rewrite of the core code to do this. Development projects can take months or even years when the core code is already in use by millions of players worldwide.

Imagine if ZOS took a DevOps approach and released a new fix every hour to keep everyone moaning on the forums happy - imagine the performance then and the negativity it would receive. Look at Apple's AppStore. This is effectively a DevOps environment and why your Apps update every few days/weeks. Then look at the reviews for each app as a new version is put on the store. It's the same process, development cycles take time.

I was playing Maelstrom Arena last night and got some lag which meant I kept getting wiped by the poison clouds. Now, the simple answer there is to remove the poison clouds,. However, that means that you need to re-architect that level to make it a challenge without the poison - which takes time.

My last comment on this is - everyone of a certain age remembers Windows Me.

Basically before the game launched they promised that they could deliver 600 players on screen in PvP without lag. That's not possible.

Solution is to scale down the allowed amount of players in campaigns or start writing up some p2p netcode for pvp.
